A message directed to WG about 0.4.1 and Mods... is this really true?
DrBat replied to Tsukotaku's topic in General Discussion
So everybody will have to play the same game without having any advantages over the others? Seems legit :-) And by far the fairiest way to go, like it or not. -
I sometimes have the same problem. Some games run quite smoothly with only occasional lag spike (though my connection is perfectly ok), and some games are totally unplayable. Once enemy ships close into view range, the game freezes and drops to something, that feels like 0,15 FPS, Lag indicator goes red... The next thing I know is my ship is down. Because not being able to stear for about half a minute in total means you eat torps... Just wrote about it and here it comes again. Totally unable to play. I was considering putting money in the game, but I will not spend a single penny untill the game runs smoothly any time I log in. Now I can toss a cointo predict its behaviour. Cometimes it plays quite well (like this morning), sometimes it is an utter disaster and tha lags go as high as 5 seconds. And no, it is not caused by my connection, because this is the only game I have any issues with.

Compare the hole mady by a torpedo and the flooding it causes and the hole made by an AP shell. Easy to cover, slow to take on water.. I guess that is why it does not cause flooding effect. The flooding used in game is a really big problem, aking on water really quickly.

:-D And there are so many threads full of complaints about how DDs are weak and easy to kill. Seems fine to me right now, each ship (and not just a class) has its strenghts and weaknesses and needs to be handled in accordance with them.

I tried the pingplotter and as I expected, it is not actually caused by the netwirk, but, as mentioned above, it is more likely a HW support issue. 30% packages lost, but nothing horrendous as far as FPS and ping measurments go. And yet it feels like the lagspikes took something between 1 and 4 seconds. I guess the problem is with the game utilization of the dual core AMD CPU (at least in my case - AMD Athlon 64 x2 2,4 GHz).

Hi, I have been experiencing the same issues as described aboce. The first couple of days of open beta all seemed alright, but now whenever I try to play, I get those horrible lags going over the extend of several seconds. It also affects the sound, which becomes shattered. Though it looks like lag spikes, my suspicion is it could actually be some issue with the HW utilization. I have also experienced a connection loss several times, while my connection has always been perfectly ok. I guess it is again tied to the same issue as mentioned above and once the game floods the CPU or whatever PC part, it might also get stuck and then think it is not receiving any packets and thus trigerring the bail out procedure.
