It seems to me that most people that want CVs in the game are cruiser players that want to have less BBs in the game so they can move around more freely.
-
So what? I am fine with stealth torpedoes, HE spam and muslim immigration. Just not CVs.
-
Yes, the BB haters always have to discuss person rather than subject. You were active in "Gamergate"?
-
No, but I never claimed I wanted a pure simulation. Just that I wanted some similiarity and feel of the reality.
-
I just think that the CV mechanics do more to destroy the feel of the game than the other unrealistic mechanics.
-
At Jutland the DDs fought each other in the space between the capital ships and the german destroyers did attack the british battleships. Off course the range is to short in the game, but that is more of an acceptable compromise.
-
Oh yes, it is a bad idea that want a game based on something to actually resemble the thing the game is based on....
-
In real battles where both sides had CVs, the surface ships were not even within sighting range of each other. So no point to combine surface ships and CVs in the same game at all.
-
That is exactly the reason I think that CV warfare and surface battles should be two seperate games or game modes.
-
And therefore, in a game of CV warfare, the other ships should simply be bots.
-
But because of that, surface ships did only engage each other when carriers were not present. The only exception being the battle of Leyte. You are talking about the strategical level, but this game are about tactical level engagements, and in those CVs rarely went after anything else than other CVs.
-
In real battles CVs would mostly ignore other ships until the enemy CVs were sunk or driven off. That is very far from what happens in this game. Really, I think that ships of the same class are not dangerous enough to each other. Just look at how only a couple of good salvos from one BB could do crippling damage to another in real life.
-
When have I claimed to be good at using my BBs? I have never made such a claim. I just get the impression that you are BB hater when you complain there are to many BBs in the battles.
-
I guess it is rather because you are unable to answer properly. Seems that most of the BB hater are "typical gamers" that hate SJWs and watch MGTOW videos on Youtube.
-
I just claim that it would be more natural for CVs to fight each other, like they did in real life. Also, it makes little sense to have player controlled carriers and battleships in the same battle.
-
I was talking about cruiser versus cruiser here. In such an engagement it will be mostly HE when you have the sense to angle.
-
Yes, but not in the way it is in this game. Off course any ship class will have something in common with the real ships in such a game, but for CVs the simliarities between the gameplay here and the real carrier battles are very few indeed. Yes, but again, they went after surface ships in battles where the enemy did not have CVs,and that is not the case in this game! So my point again, it is pointless to mix up surface battles and carrier battes the way this game does. It is actually quite noticable that the designers of this game come from a country with little experience in actual navall warfare for the last 100 years. It is rather you that are unable to understand the context as usual.
-
So you enjoy massive amounts of HE spam? That is really one reason why I prefer BB heavy meta.
-
However, they were designed to fight other surface ships. That is the difference: CVs in the game are used ways they were neither were designed for or did actually do much. In real battles the CVs would mostly fight each other and only go after surface ships actively after the enemy CVs were sunk. As such, this game seems to be based on the battle of Leyte only, and that was a very special and unusal naval battle.
-
And that what make me to a large degree dislike CVs in this game. Their primary tasks are to different to what they were in real life. A real admiral that in a balanced naval battle used his carrier planes to spot and hunt destroyers would either be shot or sent to an insane asylum. Yes, I know this is not a simulation and that is good really, but I also prefer that such a game have something in common with the theme it is depicting, something the CVs in this game to a very little degree have.

What about making the game a little bit more like a ship game?
steviln posted a topic in General Discussion
I am not claiming I want it to be a simulation or something like that, but what about including a bit of wind and especially waves, making ship that run at very low speed and being stationary drift? I think with all this static bow tanking, it is starting to feel more like a tanke game :( By making stationary ships drift a bit, extreme camping would be much more difficult. Making the game more fun. -

I did not explain myself well enough. What I am proposing is that to implement waves in a way that the only real effect is to make camping BBs and cruiser drift out of position. No change to game except for that. -

As I said I did not want a simulation mechanic as such. Rather a more arcade like mechanic, where it mostly affect battleships and cruiser. Yes, I do see the problem with DDs and admit I forgot to think about it. I want to make it impossible for BBs and cruisers to camp behind rock, bow camp and generally move about as a tank. -
Japanese cruiser torpedoes - Dire need of rebalance.

Do you think a dutch cruiser tech tree would be feasable? Does relevant paper designs exist? Would be great to see some dutch ships after the great powers are all in the game. -

So japanese cruisers teamkilling frequently is historically accurate?
