But you didn't pay for the ship the 2nd time. If you'd bought the crate which was specifically advertised as containing the ship then I'd agree with you. But it didn't, so I don't.

Why would you get doubloons for completing the mission though?

I got my first Kraken. Only tier 4 but it still counts! Looks like dropping downa couple of tiers is paying off.

It's not great by the standards of most of you chaps, and I didn't actually mean to go into a real battle with her just yet. But even so a 2nd place on my first tier 8 game. Obviously got massively carried by the Yamato but it'll do. It won't happen again any time soon, so the rest of you can relax safe in the knowledge I won't be along to bugger up your games

The WoT skills work for WoT. The WoWS skills work for WoWS. This isn'y just tanks on the water and I don't see what changing the crew skill arrangement would actually bring to the game. Where do you draw the line? All two and a half thousand men on board an Iowa? It works for tanks as it's only small groups.

As much as I'd love Belfast I couldn't justify spending that much! But I'm happy for you that you got what you were after, hope it lives up to your dreams If I'm spending that much I'd expect a happy ending as well. Or at least a new GFX card (or a slap round the ear from my wife).

I'm happy with what I got, from 10 mega boxes and the 2 free ones I got Prinz Eugen, T-61 and Dunkerque (free box) plus 12,500 coal and a stack of flags and camo. We can argue whether we're getting value for money, but according to the value that WG assign to things the worst you can do is break even (although most people wouldn't actually buy a lot of the stuff in the boxes). Leaglly it (probably) isn't gambling, but morally is another matter. If I remove the free boxes from the discussion then (from a small sample) I got one ship from every 5 mega boxes, a drop rate which I very much doubt would continue. I'm happy with what I got (although something more Belfast-y would have been preffered over the Eugen..), mostly through getting Eugen which pushed the returns into the "profit" side of things. Personally I don't think I'd get the same return from buying any more boxes and if I'm honest with myself it'd just be in the hope of getting Belfast and I probably wouldn't have bought any of the ships I received. The chance of getting something I actually want (as apposed to being happy to get) is obviously low and I have no plans to spend any more money right now (so stop showing me pictures of Belfast you buggers).

I got the Massachusets B from a free container. Not that I'm in any way ready to be taking tier 8 BBs for a drive. It turned up after 5* Hermes, maybe the stack of containers threw the RNG out

So far most of the games I've played in this have been successful, a few 5* results, most are 3/4* although I had one where we just barely scraped a win and just a single game where we failed after two players on one flank were dead before they'd killed any of the first three BBs on that side.

Looking back on it from today we can see how it could all have been avoided with a little thinking. Sadly, we are (as a species) bloody awful at considering what the longer term ramifications of our actions are going to be.

I actually had a good game in the Omaha. It had citadel hits, long range shooting over islands to hit moving DD, big fires, blind torpedo kill on another DD and I even managed to gain a complement ( think for saving a BB from an approaching DD). So I quit while I was ahead.

I'm getting back into warships, I haven't really played since the RN cruisers were the shiny new thing and you could buy Belfast. The short version is that I'm finding it difficult to do well on a consistent basis against real opponents. One good game is usually followed by 3-4 (or 6) bad ones where I die early or miss every salvo. It's got so bad I am doing more damage in the St.Louis than any other ship, which is clearly not a good thing. When I'm spotting I'm not actually assisting as much as I think I am, when I go shooting stuff I normally get swatted quickly, when I'm keeping safe I feel like I'm not contributing to the team and when I play BB I just can't stand the glacial reload (probably because I need more practice at deflection etc). So, with that in mind where's a good place to be learning things and good vids to watch (watching Notser and Flambass on Twitch but most streaming seems to be high tier stuff)? Any particular lines and ships I should be aiming at or revisiting? I will say I'm not going back to the Emerald and if anyone does I'm going to be on your team being bad in the Atlanta instead... Also, which are people's preferred choice of crate? I've mostly gone for consumables up to now with the occasional flag/camo thrown in. In port atm (apart from tier 1 ships): Chikuma St. Louis (1/4 pt captain) S. Carolina (1/2 pt captain) Clemson (1/4 PT/SSE) Omaha (2/8 PT/EM/DE) Texas (10 skill capt PT/EM/BFT/AFT) Pensacola (1/4 PT/EM) Atlanta (1/11 PT/EM/BFT/AFT) mostly used for co-op and scenarios Dresden Emden Leander (Bert Dunkirk PT/SSE/SI/CE plus another with PT/SSE/SI who has been replaced for now) Also have the mission for the RN HMS Acasta. Long term plan is for Bert to go into the Fiji, but I'm not ready for real tier 7 games so that needs to wait.
