No, a premium should provide a different playstyle by introducing unique quirks - like Scharnhorst for example. Some love it, some hate it, some "meh" it. I would love to buy those new paint jobs for my Hipper, tho ps: Some cruisers prey on BB and actually benefit from the BB heavy MM. I guess the Hipster doesn't.

CV still counter BB well, HE slinging cruisers counter them quite well, gun boats counter them quite well. It's just that the skill ceiling for all these counters is quite high. All those counters can apply DOT/dmg spikes and then disengage . AP slingers like the German cruisers are just more difficult to play in this role but can be just as effective. Their window of opportunity is smaller. Fearing for your wallet?

Just played my first Gneisenau match (tier 9) and it was a disappointing 80k dmg game (no torp hits) - disappointing because I lead some targets just badly. The ship itself plays just like the Tirpitz with one gun less, surprise...when I lead correctly I had no trouble hitting stuff.
