I'm still hoping to see Devonport/Plymouth Sound added as a RN port, it is the largest naval base in Western Europe after all. Of course I'm not biased at all.

Yeah, sorry about that, it's some forum weirdness. I tried to fix it a while back but nothing seemed to work, right clicking and selecting open link in new tab works though for future reference. -

Click on my signature, it'll take you to the thread, the Shokaku skin is in post #4, just open the spoiler and click the image. Please do not use that website for mods, they take people's work without permission. I recommend sticking to the forums or any alternate site the mod creator links in their threads to get all the mods you want. -

I have a skin for her in my thread that gives her Zuikaku's 1944 camouflage scheme if that's the sort of thing you're looking for. -
But that's exactly the point, it's not a thing, H-44 is already pushing the limit of practicality to the extreme. Using a drawing some DeviantArt user pulled out of their [edited]to justify its addition to the game is ridiculous. The 800mm gun was generally pretty useless on land and the problems with it would be compounded massively by trying to put it on a ship. It's just nonsense to the extreme.
-
Hopefully not, what's definitely not needed is more ships with Yamato and Musashi levels of overmatch topped off with absurd HP pools. There is no such thing as H-45. It's a complete work of impractical fantasy.

Oops, I just read back the thread and realised I'd not read it properly and managed to replace TXAA with FXAA in my head, my bad. Yeah I've no idea why you can use MSAA and TXAA at the same time. I guess it's some implementation weirdness.
-
Not really, it depends on what sort of machine you're running and how much of a performance hit MSAA gives you. FXAA works in a different way, more like a post process effect that only takes effect after the whole frame has been rendered. It also applies its effect to everything which can give you a slightly blurry image, especially if implemented poorly. I personally much prefer MSAA which smooths the jaggies at the edges of geometry which is what you ideally want, not blurring the whole frame.

If you want to look through the game files you need to download the unpacker from the modding section of the forums. It's not just textures and models that are taking up a lot of space but numerous sound banks, flash files for the various ui components and scripts. It all adds up and with bigworld being as it is it's not surprising that the client is quite sizeable and there's not a whole lot that can be done about it easily.

Wargaming are using .dds, which is generally much more suitable for game engine use as it's more easily managed by the GPU and has a number of different compression algorithms for various uses depending on whether things like alpha channels are needed i.e. dxt5 with interpolated alphas is used for particle sprites as it covers a range of values in the alpha between 0 and 1. Because of the additional data included with dtx5 it does drive up the texture size somewhat.

Making a point of specifying Tiger as the 1959 ship, does that suggest that HMS Tiger 1913 may be in the picture for the future™? I certainly hope so.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
zFireWyvern replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
Correct, it is a historical camouflage scheme, just not one that was ever used on Agincourt as she was never camouflaged at all. The camouflage scheme is HMS Ramillies' 1917 paint scheme (more or less, some of the colours are a bit off depending on what information you look at but that's partly a limitation of WoWS' camouflage system). -

(Suggestion) British battleship line split
zFireWyvern replied to Benzo7's topic in General Discussion
P3 also displaces about 7000 tonnes over Nelson so some of that is also additional weight of armour, probably a good deal of that in the deck but I don't know the exact armour breakdown of those designs.- 15 replies

(Suggestion) British battleship line split
zFireWyvern replied to Benzo7's topic in General Discussion
With F3 producing around 95,000 SHP pushing her up towards 29/30 knots, she was one of the battlecruiser designs with a generally lighter armour scheme than the battleship projects that ranged from L2 to Q3, with O3 being Nelson and Rodney. P3 and Q3 are probably better fits for a tier 7 battleship split line, they're quite a bit heavier than Nelson and have a heavier armour scheme but as a result have a reduced battery of 9xBL 15" MK1s as opposed to Nelson's 9xBL 16" MK1s.- 15 replies

Finally Agincourt comes, still wouldn't have put her at tier V but there you go, will have to see how she manages.

Your memory is correct, the B model was the only variant of Ju 87 to have the sirens attached and even those often ended up with the sirens removed from the aircraft.

A Simple Guide to Texture Modding
zFireWyvern replied to PunishedKAsual's topic in Modding Tutorials, Guides and Tools (English)
If you're talking about the larger object textures i.e. ship hulls, look for the texture with the extension .dd0, extract it and rename the extension to .dds and then just open it as you normally would. If you're talking about smaller objects like AA guns, rangefinders etc. these models don't have larger resolution textures because they don't really need them and it maintains even texel density across the model as well as saving on memory. -

Lesta should fix a couple of major mistakes in Vittorio Veneto's model, yet another Roma copy-paste
zFireWyvern replied to JennyTheBelgian's topic in General Discussion
I'm not really sure what you mean by 'now' considering there are plenty of examples of modelling errors and nonsensical changes that go back much further than the Italian BB line, I mean just take a look at what they did to Iron Duke for absolutely no reason at all as there is no statistical reasoning or justification for her to have received a single funnel which was never carried out or even planned for the real ship or any of her class. It would have been just as easy for her to have her historical upperworks arrangement and she would have exactly the same in-game performance that she has now. -
