Only way I can see that happening is if you're sailing straight at them, otherwise in a mini you should have time to get under cover of smoke. That thing turns on a dime and you'll be unspotted in no time as long as you're leaving your smoke directly between you and them.

I find that hard to believe. If you're awareness and movement are THAT bad then a stealth class just isn't for you.

You tried to sink the enemy dd while exposed to his team there's your problem. If you get him 1v1 then it might be worth fighting him (depending on various other factors), if it's you against multiples then show him your stern and run under cover of smoke.

It really is excellent for some games, especially if there are a ton of controls. Mind you if it's 20 euros it's gone up a bit since I bought it about 18 months ago, think it was £4 back then! For the right game 20euros would still be well worth it though IMO.

VA is awesome for some types of games, I first used it for elite dangerous and it's well suited for that. On the other hand I set up a profile and tried it with wows but then realised its totally pointless as there are hardly any controls in the game and also the pace of the game is so slow.

It ain't that big a deal for me, I'd rather I didn't have to look at it but it won't stop me playing. The storm seems to have errupted because a couple of people legitimately asked how to disable it, a 'you cant' would have done the trick but it seems the anime crowd got upset because some of us don't share their taste in art, bizzare!

Yeah I think you're right, I rarely bother looking at the mission screen and clearly got this wrong.

Uh oh here we go again... Fella a couple of us already asked if there's a way to disable this and it has produced 2 pages of angst from the cartoon kids. They're an uppity bunch, I'm surprised such a simple and rational request got their knickers in such a twist!

TBF the thread started with a couple of people trying to find how to disable it (as we were lead to believe we would be able to), if you read the thread you'll see 'the fuss' seems to have blown out of all proportion because apparently anime fans can't comprehend that some of us might find these girly cartoons a) a bit crap to look at and b) out of place in a war game. Edit: In answer to your question, I've been playing most of this evening up until right now, I don't go back to port after every game but every time I've been to port there is the mission thing in the corner with a picture of one of the ships and a cartoon girl.

Not arsed about the mission screen as I rarely look at it, it's the cartoon girl in the corner of the port screen that sticks out, it looks completely out of place. It isn't a bit deal and it's far from being the only problem with the game - if only - but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be mentioned, especially when they stated the whole nonsense was optional.

It's just not my thing, so I don't watch anime and I don't play anime themed games (for example I like the combat system in blade n soul for an MMO but unfortunately the look of the game is trash so I probably won't play it again). Here it's in my face every time I goto my port, they said it was optional but that's clearly bollocks.

This. I was just playing some tier 5 yesterday to earn some credits, finished a game in the omaha, clicked "battle on" and went to grab a drink. I wasn't taking any notice of the teamlist and only put my laptop back on my lap when the battle started, it was only then I noticed I was in the emden! I wasn't playing for it and didn't even realise I'd completed the mission so it would have been nice to just leave the piece of crap in my port and give me a notification rather than dumping me in a game with it by surprise

The spotting system is a but cheesy but it is way better than any alternatives I can think of. Just having all ships visible by line of sight would completely wreck the gameplay as the spotting system does at least add some some simple tactical play. The other alternative that has crossed my mind is to have an exaggerated earth curvature and balance visibility by the height of masts. But then in order to make aiming possible you'd have to show the outline of the spotted ship (as most of it would be below the horizon) and that to me is far worse than the current on/off system, so I guess that's why it is the way it is.

The game is a low budget development, they aren't going to mess about wasting significant resources with fancy stuff like cheat prevention.

DDs have been the poor relation for most of the time I've played the game, it didn't stop me playing them, nor have I whinged about it on here. Compare and contrast to all those players who quit or changed class once CVs stopped being troll machines, and the incessant whining about them.

I think the game is fine without carriers, as a BB and DD player they're just an irritant so I don't miss them whatsoever.

Nah, no reason why coop players should be subjected to them, just temporarily ban them.

It should definitley be something like that, but given how simple an automated system like that would be to implement we can only conclude that the will simply isn't there, ie WG doesn't think team killing is a big deal.

It does amaze me how seriously some people take this game, a good chatwar can be entertaining though. I always imagine these geeks foaming at the mouth while they're furiously hammering on their keyboard about what they did to the other guys mums, I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets a laugh out of it.

Not really, I can understand you not seeing the funny side of it, your friend has made himself look like a douche. From my POV I happened across a thread on a game forum where some dude made an [edited] of himself, nowt wrong with having a laugh at that.
