    I doubt the crappy graphics engine could handle it, they seem to have had to mess with LOD settings since adding the god awful trees. I play on highest settings and now find that cap point marker buoys pop in at about 4km, very poor that you can't see one side of a cap point from the other without zooming in - I used to be able to see the enemy cap point on Ocean map right from spawn for example. So if they can't handle drawing minecraft grade trees without sacrifices I wouldn't bother thinking about animated crew.
  2. Some people seem to play games for the grind rather than the actual gameplay, always thinking/talking about the numbers, always seemed a bit strange to me but it's actually pretty common.
  3. If I was going to quit this game (and I've come close to uninstalling once or twice) it would mainly be because of the matchmaker sucking the fun out of games, no amount of XP or credits would fix that. Just my 2 pen'th.

    I doubt it'll be an epic fail, in fact I imagine it'll be a financial success. I suspect the game is relatively low cost to develop and they've clearly learnt how to extract money from players efficiently, 'tis a good formula!

    I think T6/7 should in theory give the best balance between experience and population. And who knows, the matchmaker might even function vaguely like a matchmaker if it doesn't have to cope with divisions, not getting my hopes up though.

    It's a bit more understandable late at night at less populated tiers, I'm playing tier 6 at the moment though (mainly Mutsuki, occasionally Fuso) and this happened at twice during prime time last night (once later as well). The worst case of it I remember also had 4 divisions in the higher numbered team and 1 in the smaller team, you can guess how that game went. Matchmaker is a train wreck, and was probably 'designed' by someone who has never played any team based game.

    Last couple of days it seems that higher tiers can regularly get into lower tier games by divisioning with lower tiers. Been playing mutsuki, every other game seems to have tier 9s in divisions with t7s. Also, DD balance seemed to be a thing just after the last patch which was great, now that's gone out of the window and I've been seeing completely unbalanced DD match ups most games. Oh and uneven team numbers, had couple of games where one team has 2 less players then the other, not seen that for a while but it has returned.

    I've said before, it's a shame but I've given up expecting teamwork in this game. Playing BBs the cruisers will generally abandon you, playing cruisers the BBs will come so far but are guaranteed to turn tail and run the second their paintwork gets scratched. The game is less frustrating, and consequently more fun, if I just worry about trying to get myself into fun fights. When teamwork occasionally occurs, whether by me initiating it or by me following the lead of someone else who seems to be talking sense then its great but sadly it's rare. In fact over the weekend I've gone back to mainly playing Japanese DDs and tend to find it better to stay well away from teammates, I'll either go ahead of the pack hopefully leading a flank, or I'll go to the abandoned flank and try and get some kills or at least put some fear into the enemy attack.

    AOE damage is not fun gameplay. If you want to damage a target nearby then aim at it and click your left mouse button.

    Sometimes it's prudent to go for the ship which is easier/quicker to neutralise.

    If we're talking about the look of the game rust on the ships are way down my list, in fact I'd say the ships and the water are the only things that look half decent in the game (well that is if you can ignore the terrible aliasing). Island textures, skybox, trees, buildings, aircraft and other props are about as bad as you'll see in a modern PC game - it all looks as cheap as fook.

    Nonsense, I don't hear anybody complaining 'Oh noes, my ship stops when it hits an island, pls fix WG', they learn to look out for them and accept that if they do hit one it was their own fault. The only people who'd whine about hard borders would be those who deliberately use the current borders to laugh at ship physics.

    You might have had a point about dispersion being a skill leveller if this were the kind of game where twitch aim and accuracy are a large part of the required skill, I've got news for you - it isn't that type of game. You probably think like the other idiot earlier in the thread who compared this game to CS.

    Oh I know that, thanks anyway, my point is it seems (and I have not recorded and closely examined video to determine this, just 'seems' this way) that the half of the ship outside the border doesn't take hits. That aside it's a cheesy mechanic and really is needless, if hitting the border made ships stop and have to reverse this cheesy crap would all but disappear.

    Well it certainly looks that way, any shots that go even slightly above the line seem to disappear, I find the most effective way to get hits is to aim exactly at line level.

    As far as I'm aware 1/2 of your ship is untouchable, anyone says that isn't an exploit is lying to themselves. Yes it's easy to know where to aim but when taking dispersion into account then obviously it's more difficult to hit a target that's effectively 1/2 the size.

    Yes you're right they should get rid of dispersion and give those massive battleship guns the same damage as destroyer guns, that would make an awesome game wouldn't it...

    The game needs dispersion for balance, otherwise it would just be world of battleships since they'd obliterate everything else.

    Having played this game for a few months I have zero faith they'd implement it well enough to make it playable, they just don't seem that competent. Balance only just works occasionally in the game as it is because of the random make up of teams, I doubt they'd be able to balance realistic battles to be fun for sides.

    I must admit when seeing someone raging in chat I can't always resist the temptation to wind them up further I'd rather be able to game with mature adults though. Partner hosted private servers would be great, not gonna happen though as for some reason WG insist on retarded MMO style server hosting for a round based game.
  24. I stopped grinding them ages ago and now just minekase out for a bit of fun. Since the patch I'm seriously considering carrying on the grind, it might actually be fun sometimes since games without CVs are fairly common now.

    4 point captain skill for IJN Destoyer

    A butterfly flapped it's wings on the other side of the world, consequently my Minekase's rudder fell off... Considering how easily and often modules will break, last stand is the only sensible choice.
