Select the ships you want to fight against
Nibenay78 replied to jdo666's topic in General Discussion
Because subs and CVs would complain when they got grouped together alone and couldn't grief on regular ships anymore... -

Why play a cruiser if you aren't using your utilities?

The trenches are deep in your world right... well neither will I, so I will keep assuming your stats reflect your skill level and you know pretty much nothing about various ships gameplay. -

Ok... I see no reason to believe you. Why not? care to mention which other accounts and prove it here? We have this account to go by and it's not very impressive to demonstrate your knowledge of ships roles. More than you (and me) apparently nor are you reading what everyone else write, just going defensive. -
Autopilot is the punishment for playing CV...

Why play a cruiser if you aren't using your utilities?
Nibenay78 replied to The_Angry_Admiral's topic in General Discussion
Yes, why do you think it has not? My BBs tend to burn a lot, but usually managable, especially with Fire Prevention... Since you completely miss the point, I'll spell it out detailed for you: You say that you don't need Fire Prevention on JB because you have so long range, that you rarely burn. That leads me (and I see others) to conclude that you are simply so far away, your impact upon the game is marginal. The numbers on your JB (and most other BBs) indicate that we are correct. This means you are QUITE FAR from using your ship (a BB) in it's correct role, and the irony is that you are wondering why people are doing the same (not playing as they should in order to maximize their impact in the game) in other ships. Fire Prevention usually "directly" stops 1 fire. Because the two central fire locations turns into one. This is the location most HE ships spam to deal damage to super structure. Almost every time I get spammed by some reasonably rapid firing HE ship, both locations tends to be on fire quite fast. It makes a big difference. Snide as they may be, you obviously didn't get why they contain a certain scarasm. See my reply to point 2. Just for the record: I'm not trying to stat-shame and I have no issue that a new player doesn't do amazing once they hit top tier. But I also expect that newbies who want to be better also consider why more experienced players are giving suggestions they do. As mentioned by others - there could be good reasons why a radar cruiser doesn't go close enough, or doesn't radar when YOU (another ship) wants. There are lots and lots of unskilled players here. Unskilled players make a lot of mistakes which leads them to not utilize their ship class to the best for the team. For the moment you are included in that group of players. The question is if you want to, and if so, can improve. For the record nr 2: I had the same aha-moment when I got Gearing, one of my first tier 10. I felt i was doing great for the team. Stats said I was doing rather crappy, meaning I was more a liability for my team than a benefit. I might never be an unicum, but in team games I really want to be at least a benefit for my team (51%+ wr). The numbers made me rethink my DD play a lot once I saw them. -

Like if you are so far back that your BB doesnt need fire prevention captain skill you mean? I wonder why BBs like that play as they do also. Not taking their roles as damage soakers and being "near" caps. -
ooor play random and survive fine without premium.

Playing it too safe is not good.

How can anyone see any correlation to this... -

You are not aware that a BB that passes one of the four corners gains 1000 doubloons? The rest goes directly to jail. Do not pass Go. -
Nice overview! No steel? I suppose the only interesting for me would be doubloons+prem ships. So We'll have to do the math which gives most bang for the certificate. Making the wild assumtion that it's the same this year too. I suppose WG are too lazy to change the code anyways. edit: sample size for Big containers is kinda low really. Even 500 isn't that big to be honest. I'd prefer at least 6 digits... cough Yes it annoys me.. :P Real men don't test in Test, they test in Prod.

Chance of getting 11 losses in a row with a ship
Nibenay78 replied to _TRider_'s topic in General Discussion
0,5^11 = 0.000488 or 0.0488% edit: thats 1 to 2048 just to be clear... Sounds rather commonplace to me. It would be completely obviously rigged if a 50% player lost every second game... for those particularly interested: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clustering_illusion -
Testing in prod is great. I'm sure the oil company I work for would love just that...

Poll: Does knowing the odds reduces gambling?
Nibenay78 replied to Ocsimano18's topic in General Discussion
Didn't buy a single lootbox before as all gambling is clearly only to make you spend more, one way or the other. -
What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?
Nibenay78 replied to Hanszeehock's topic in General Discussion
While playing Scharnhorst, spending about 15 minutes under attack alone on a flank from Enterprise. Dying only in the final 2-3 minutes of the game. Fun and Engaging game where I barely fired or fired upon another ship under 17km. Killed 23 strike planes and 7 fighters. Reported the CV 7-8 times. no doubt my best effort today. -
It's spelled Assholio

Black Friday Containers: Go in with no expectations.
Nibenay78 replied to The_Angry_Admiral's topic in General Discussion
Or like i tend to say for our national lottery (run by the state): it's extra taxes for people who don't know math. So I suppose for WG: it's extra income for people who don't know math. For the record I just bought Scharnhorst B last night, with saved up free dubloons. -
Black Friday 2021 ships datamined?
Nibenay78 replied to wot_2016_gunner's topic in General Discussion
Imagine paying money to have a overprised ship in black... -
The problem is that "we" can discuss as much as we want. Like I said before - brainstorming by a massive amount of people can be really useful. Despite WGs latest claims they use "our" ideas, I simply do not believe WG anymore. This means that for practical purposes, discussing mechanics is only for our own enjoyment of the discussion. Which could of course be interesting on a personal level, but completely pointless if the goal is to get a more enjoyable game to play. For me the fact remains: Carriers are extremely uninspiring to play. They are mostly annoying to destructive (depending on CVs skill) when playing against and fighter consumable is outright dumb. AA is just excrement-from-bull due to being automatic-vs-cvskill but not that anyone relevant (WG staff) cares.

Have you guys seen new WG WoWs statistical charts - for example WinRate chart?
Nibenay78 replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
it's called "make a new account to inflate my own ego" -
But again this breaks most of players expectations I'd say. Most of us picture CVs as littered with flammable stuff (an image we can discuss is realistic ir not, but thats not my point) is basically immune to fires (and flooding)
-
Of course. I'm not saying what level of realism already exists. I'm just saying Carriers can be allowed a bit more - spesifically regarding launch and travel time to target... Most of wows isn't very realistic, but it really doesn't matter so much as long as we get the feeling of verisimilitude, immersion and enjoyment. A hard realism game would probably attract a low fewer players.
-
I'm good with more realism regarding carriers. They can have the same prep\launch time for strikes as real carriers had in ww2. and the same flight times to their targets.

Same here. Probably the hamsters are not fed properly. On top of the chat being wonky as usual, PMs disappearing when logging out/in..
