Smaller DDs, bigger DDs.. some DDs are already at the level they resemble light cruisers in firepower. same with cruisers and BBs. I'd say to a large extent the distinction between the 3 ship types are blurring out at times. Only separated by very few spesific traits.

It could've been a fun to play ship, but since low stealth is pretty much of marginal value anymore.. I'm guessing a pass from my side.

As we all know - to make sure the first attack goes through. Great fun playing max AA specced Gouden against abnormal-cell-growth RU carrier where they are barely inside the AA before the immunity of the attack run starts. Get smacked and shoot down nothing with "amazing" AA.

Reading the topic again: CVs are Overdue an Overhaul I start to think that last time they got an overhaul, we got this. Maybe it's safer to just not ask for anything at all The next monster is probably worse.

Indeed. Most who play the BBs seem to think they are immune to shells (because they are super...) and mostly sit broadside while eating massive amounts of damage. -

They only need a sufficient influx of casuals waiting to buy 100 euro ships because they see a vaguely competend player like me already have it and occationally kick arse in it. The "churn" video on youtube from a certain disgruntled formed WG employee certainly holds true, even if he coms off as a bit too... "negative" at times.

How can that be? I usually never play coop, but did some tier 5-8 snowflakes there. Half the time all you had to do in any ship was to go bow on to avoid gunfire.. at 2km... If that is the level players require, it explains a bit about the average random player...

Well the randomness can be tweaked and modified. Of course it will also never be "fair" (unless they just mirror the map). But then again playing the same maps 10 000 times is also not that exciting.

Islands are nice in any ship, including BBs. Makes things interesting. I'm sure Ocean is a realistic map, but if it was the only map in the game... well. I'd not play anymore. A random map generator would also be "interesting" to have as option (possibly...).

True, but the entire bubble is not very massive for Gouden with 6km. I always position close to the front in "AA" ships to "help out" but it feels pathetic. If they come into the medium range, ok it hurts a bit. Long range, not so much. Plus to be close one tends to be near a mountain for ones own safety, which usually also blocks out AA and makes it easier to get struck by the very thing one is trying to help out against. One of my earlier experiences was endgame where myself (fullhp Minotaur) + damaged BB with say 30k hp left against CV+DM. We were all south and they were all north. I took up position 3-4km IN FRONT of the BB as obviously the CV will go for him and I really need him to deal with DM. CV kept flying more or less straight over me with full squads, and he wasn't anything amazing in CV, yet ground down the BB by the time DM showed up. Yes I had all captain skills and AA modules and was using the amazing 'O' at any possible moment. piss poor experience. edit: I have no recollection of which game version this was, but it was rather pathetic AA performance. I think It may have been a Republiqe that I was "helping". At that moment I gave up thinking "go together to help out" was of ANY use in what used to be "the best" AA ship in my eyes.

Assuming that the CV actually attacks you, and the seemingly most amazing AA ship (Gouden?) has a MASSIVE 3.5km medium range so it will probably not help out any friendlies...

It's a fair point, but then again the schoolkids seems to remove half of the game for me just by accidentally flying near me. The Messi guy removes the other half on top.

Most scenarios we can think of, and probably many we can't... My poor nerves.. I long for the days when AA was actually a deterrent, as a minimum for yourself, but ALSO FOR THOSE AROUND YOU! RTS were OP, but less annoying and some ships could really negate them. Gearing with 7.2km AA and defAA was really a teamplayer ship..
