How and why is it possible to have a T10 with below 200 random games and a 'very bad PR'
deathsadow replied to Port_Authority's topic in General Discussion
Thank you for correcting it, havent had those badboys for a while :D -
;) lucky enough some advice from my friedns who play WoT and the WG logo kept my wallet closed mostly , save for a few EUR for a Cesare which i still love to play this day. If i would have paid for T8 prems, the ships like Alaska, and JB would make a teardrop in my eye for the money wasted , while you could get way way better ships free of charge :D ... and the 3 ships mentioned pretty much summs up what i play when im back for nostalgia , with some Musashi games and a few new ship grind added here and there.

Oh and if you can pay for Type59 camo, with the +500% exp modifier you might even be done in half the time. -

With the right setup you can get a T10 and the credits for it within 75 games. I got my MVR that way 59 games to get the exp ( i wasnt even runing all flags) , and 16 games in the Musashi to cover for the credit costs ( I didnt sell Wesser or Parseva), and all that without a premium account. If pay for prem account and you can run all the dragon flags it is easy sub 50 game to get a T10 CV , and maybe like 70 to get a normal ship, as they cost a bit more exp. -
Giuseppe Verdi (Tier IX) for DOUBLOONS ONLY?!

T12 Subs and CVs tooimagine how fun it would be to wreck a Yamato with F-14s with a Tom Cruise voiceover from Top Gun :P , or simply drop some laser guided bomb on it from a Super Hornet. -
In my case what keeps me playing WoWs from time to time, is the nostalgia of how good this game is used to be 4-5 years ago .... that allways bring me back when there is a larger event going on. But in like 20-30 games i realise how bad the current state of the game is, and go on another break... but sofar the nostalgia allways bring me back to check new lines or to collect those snowflakes or Aniversary SC-s.

Buying a T9 premium solve the credit issue in no time, slap on a dragon flag for credits and even the worst players will make 800.000-1.000.000 credit a game. -

Also just for your info .... WG used to sell Tier X ship for cash. Basically anyone dumb enough could buy a ARP Yamato from prem shop not so long ago :P -
New Year's Night and Our Festive Collection

Snow in port and "Great opportunity to buy lootboxes." The game is going brutally downhill since 2019, and i really wonder when will it hit the floor. -
WG never told that all ships should have those. But they told that all ships should have ASW to counter subs .... but hey they also told the will not sell T10 for cash .... and yet we got ARP Yamato and Napoli in prem shop.
-
Does anyone know that the lack of ASW is a feature of Kearsarge or just WG fogot about this ship when they added ASW planes ? It feels odd to be the only surface ship who has no tools to fight subs.

New Year's Night and Our Festive Collection

Wow i would have never guessed we can get that worthless of a xmas event .... literally the best part of this xmas was the 75 steel of each T8-9 ship. The rewards here literally worth nothing.... probabaly i could get that 3M credit in 4-5 games in coal ships. The reward for playing T10 snowflakes was also pretty crap, an SC worth way more than the ticket you gave. Hope next year you also remove the free steel and coal from the snowflakes too -
WG Too :P Jokes aside im pretty sure that they actually did just forget about those ships when they added ASW. They are too busy printing new premium ships. Saddly there is no profit in fixing old ships.

Is it just me who often run into games where just looking at the divisions on each team and you can already tell which side won from the loading screen ? As a solo player it is super demoralising to run into games like this. Why WG doesnt have a solo queue where everyone gets a fair chance and the games are not mostly decided by which team gets the better division and who gets the triple german BB guaranteed failure? After 2-3 game like that i just cant keep on playing the game and need to take a few days before i pick it up again.
-
That is probably the rarest kind of games. Most matches 1 side already lose 4-5 ships when the 1st one on the other side sink. More often than not the winning side has 6+ ships alive when the other side is wiped out , or killed so fast that their counter hits the 0.

Thank you for the detailed reply. The point i was trying to make is exactly the one you stated in your 2nd paragraph, that difference between one side having that division where they heavily stack the odds in their favour , with ship selection, voice coms, players who used to play with each other, and in general for this type of divisions consisting from above avg players to start with. When the MM decides to match this division versus the one you called as "sack of potatoes" this will cause a very very hard to overcome adventage for one side, also if we add the XVM guys on top who simply give up based on the fact that they see it in XVM, the team with the sack of potatoes will only have a marginal chance to win the fight. The other point you brought up about radar is also a very solid idea , which would need some attention too, but i guess we can simply widen it out to classes countering each other, as having 0 good AA ship on 1 side & mostly good AA ships on the other side in a 2v2 CV T6 game would give similar feeling to what you explained with the radar stacking. All in all WG should look into scenarios where 1 team gets so much of an adventage due to its ship or division ( or the joy when both present), that the other side feels so outmatched that players give up 2-3 minute into the game or even before their game starts. ( tbh im guilty of this a bit too, when i see our DDs sink early, or BBs doing nothing but camp, i swap from a win oriented gameplay to just pure dmg farm.)

The balance we think is that if we have 100 days with 25degree celsius. The WG spreadsheet balance is that you have 50 days of -100 degree and 50 with +125 degree = you enjoy 25 degree on avg for 100 days , so you are fine & shoulnt complain about the temperature.

I have numbers too , just not a sizeable sample. Basically i base it on the games i play solo, vs the ones i play with my Clan mates. The WR of the later one is well above 80% ( really dirty divisions with CV or multiple Cesare involved tough) while my solo WR is more in the 52-53% range. This is true , but a division of mulitple decent players, or a division of multiple subpar players can basically fix their MM , and so does for everyone else in that match too. It is more about the individual game getting ruined that way , than the overall stat for any player. Well yeah, fun is the reason to play this game, but often enough some games the divs are so far apart that it takes the fun away from that round. Guess we all been to games where the match was already over before you could pick a decent fight to enjoy your ship , or when your teammates went down so fast that you ended up in a 1v5+ on your flank in a few minutes. As for the lolship divi ... even if you make something surreally bad like a triple Pensacola division the good players would still be able to carry versus your good old sub 40% WR Triple Tirpitz Terror.
-
Yeah , and that hurts terribly bad when the division of that kind has 3 ship of the same type , lets say they camp in 3 German BB in the back , or they Yolo die in 3 DD. Since the game is based on Rock Paper Scrisors balancing, when 3/3 DD or 3/5 BB fail extremly hard , you will just be so handicaped that the game is basically over even if the rest of the team play good. Yes that is true, but way way less common than the ones where divisions are the main reason of the disparity, as divsions are usually players of the same skill level teaming up ( i hardly see 45% WR guys in division with 55-60% WR unicums), to make it more impactfull , the 50%+ WR guys when in division have some tactic set up , while sub 50% WR ones usually just pick up similar ships mostly what i see is 3x BB without any intention to team up and push , or lay down crossfire. I guess it would make wonders to the MM if WG would balance at least the divisions based on WR. So if unicum guys make a powerfull division like an FDR, Ohio and a Smaland would face of with a division of a similar level of skill and not against a triple GK division where the players barely manage to do 50k dmg avg with the BBs each (got a match like this yesterday in around 6 min into the game we barely had any damaged ships, got all 3 caps sunk 5 of them and the GKs were piled up near the redline with the enemy CV). This match from before also resoulted in a lot of toxicity in the chat, as around 2-3 player form our team were making fun out of the enemy BB players , while their own teammates were raging over them, so that MM definetly failed its purpose as it wasnt really generating fun, but toxicity for the majority of the participants I was personally bored of that round as the enemy colapsed too fast to make much use of my Alaska, if i would have been on the other team that would be the last game of the day for sure. I am just thinking that divisions are the largest contributors to landslide wins, or at least in ranked where they were not present i had a way more balanced MM ( maybe i just got lucky there).

For the T6 and T8 i can confirm, you would be better off runing the USN CVs or the IJN ones. Really the only highlight of that line are the skip bombers, but on T8 i would still say the Lexington has way more HE bombing power vs anything, and the Shokaku AP bombs are far more effective vs anything with a citadell too. As for the T6 one, it is even more obvious, as the skip bombs also lack a bit on the penetration side. The T10 i yet to try , but maybe the 8x skip bomb will be the one what makes it a bit OP.

Yeah that is what I feel aswell, what they wrote is something what would be awesome if they would do it that way... but saddly they fail very hard. I guess everyone who played this game for a while clearly see that there are glaring problems which WG havent even touched for years ( T4 CVs just to mention the most broken one since 2019 rework). Guess them and the subs are completly ignoring that concept.
-
If what they state in this article is indeed true, than i guess it is time to do some internal controll on the balance department, cause the devs there are clearly failing to operate based on the company policy. As for the R-P-S type of balancing ... yeah maybe it was true in 2016, but since 2019 with the CV rework & the cpt rework you screwed it up pretty goddamn bad on most of the ships. As for listeining to to players , i can agree on that you listen ... i just wonder why it took 2 YEAR to listen to what we said about the CV rocket planes screwing DDs way too hard since DAY 1 of that rework? Guess changes without instant cash in is not a proprity for the team, and that is why it took so long.

Werent you on just trying to get to max depth ? as even like a split second before reaching it you will still get hit.

They will try something: https://blog.worldofwarships.com/blog/237 But i guess they will do testing on the live server & not on PTS as a decent developer team would do.
