If anything i would buff the AA on the Colbert .. the ship swarms with cold war era 57mms and 127mm DP guns & it still has trouble fending off WW2 planes. Tiger 59 doesnt seem that bad on the DPM its like 20% behind the Edinburgh , a 10% boost would make it fine as its both more accurate and it is equiped with radar too. Or just add the Edgars burst fire mode to have some unique WGtm gimmick.
-
Thats short of true, and should work this way aswell , Musashi is also a good example for this .... but than we get guns like Thunderer, Ohio or even Preussen which are superior or at least a match to lower caliber guns in accuracy, ballistics and reload times, and im pretty sure that at least Thunderers were handed out before WG added the "may change" phrase, so they cant really be touched by targeted nerfs.
-
And imagine the 22.9 sec reload on the Thunderer or the 27 sec on the Ohio with extreme good accuracy compared to 406mms. Vermont is another topic as that ship is a horrible design in itself. Also if you IQ light fire all your shells into its angled belt armor , yeah it should bounce all your shells, if you actually have some skill and game knowledge you will dumpster the DM trough the bow same as a 406mm shell would do. I would love to see in a test that how your suggestion would work , but i have a feeling that the HE would need a massive rework if you change the plates like this .. Colbert and Smolensk or IJN Gunboats would probably shred any ship in 1-2 min with the 19mm platings, and i would be worried about the 305mm equiped cruisers to be OP too, stuff like Alaska Stalingrad or even Aegir would slap basically anything for massive hits. In my opinion it would be beyond WGs limit to make a rework like this both in work hours required and in complexity. The current armor modells and calculation used to work pretty well back when it was designed with 127, 152, 203, 380,406mm guns in mind with the Yamato being a unique exception, the problem has come with the newer calibers added to the game, which seem to be ,made in a way to be spammable with 1 type of ammo 100% dumb proof and ignore game mechanics. H4 also has pretty decent AP enough AP to deal with other cruisers or upper belt, bow or stern of BBs as it has 300-250mm pen on mid range similar to the Moskva. The problem is that the hull is simply too fragile to play it that way Petro and Moskva are covered in 50mm for the mid section and has 50mm ice breaker on the bow and has 180mm external belt, which give them resonable protection against BB Pen dmg, H4 has 30mm armor and a 140mm internal belt, which still protect vs citta on long range , but it will eat pen dmg non stop. It is exactly the overmatch and the lack of armor why CAs kite and spam HE or spam HE from behind an islands , except for the Russian CAs and the Napoli or Venezia the other cruisers just completly lack the armor to pull out offensive play cause if they get hit they will take large dmg, so their only option is to kite away and not get hit in the 1st place, and if you are getting chased probably the enemy is bow in after you so your mid caliber AP wouldnt do anything to it , which leaves only HE to be spammed.

Thats a great idea! Personally i use the Primary tag for both ships which are my favourites and for ships which still need grinding, so 2-3 different filter tag would be nice. Also the ships which are only i port to be used when Snowflake event is on should have some option to hide them.

WOWS is so frustrating that it is not worth playing anymore
deathsadow replied to IsraelHands's topic in General Discussion
Well map wise we need the Islands as most of the cruisers doesnt stand a chance in open water maps ... like for example any USN cruiser. With Ocean map only , most likely the game would be even more of a long range HE spam fest , with DDs free fire torps into BBs from stealth, which would probably be worse for the game. As for the Missions , yeah they are getting very oppressive as they are allways on , so unless you decide not to care for the ones with lesser rewards you are mostly told what and how to play all the time. -

I am also waiting for those new Operations, saddly the PvP part of the game turned to a big mess, an a good 2/3 of the ships arent even worth playing, the owerflow of gimmicks just screwed the base game concept. Well i am a Veteran and paying for WoWs seems completly pointless, the devs are doing a horrible job so i will not support them in that, and the ships which can be bought by money are still going to get rekt by the OP gimmicky T9-10 coal, steel, RB , FXP ships. Honestly why would anyone pay 40-50 EUR for a T8 BB when you have stuff like Ohio, Thunderer & Bourgogne ... or i want to see a T8 DD which doesnt get obliterated by a Ragnar, Smalan or Marceau. -
The Kleber, Marceau and F. Sherman are also very decent T10 "Cruisers" Well the best indicator for lack of balance is that WG need to cap some classes to 1 in Clan Battles. The game was pretty well built up originally , but WG just decided to powercreep with crappy designs which will be much trouble for balancing later down the road. It tells a lot that the Original IJN and USN BBs and DDs are still working as intended and are still competitive. The best part in the current armor layouts that 16mm is a better plating than 30mm ... at least that one does get overpen a lot. An im sure WG knows this is an issue ... Petro and Venezia line all were added with 40mm or above platings and Napoli too.
-
That dumb overmatch is the reason why CLs spam you from behind the island or just spam from max range. The cruisers which were supposed to play from closer in in a more agressive manner are just not worth playing as the 457s will delete you in open water on mid range without much counterplay, as the side platings which were supposed to enable that are no longer doing their jobs.
-
And this comment shows how out of touch with the game you BB guys are. If you at least took the time to check armor modells you would see that cruisers have 25-27mm bow armor, so you just prove my point 457s promote BBraindead gameplay, you dont even need know your opponents armor as it is irrelevant anyways.
-
:P Cpt rework was a hard enough nerf already. Overmatch is a fine mechanic, something needs to prevent the bow in camping, the problem is more like you overmatch ships not only os specific parts but literally everywhere. With Petro IMHO its not the armor plates what are the problem .. more like the ships armor profile ( low in the water + 50mm icebreaker ) & the guns themself ... also if you actually aim & not just German BB some AP in the general direction you would still have plenty of armor which would be overmatchable like the bow , stern , superstructure. I guess you can still pen into a HE spamming and kiting UK BB which even has 32mm bow and stern and not 25-27mm. Also it may be hard to belive but even 406mm equiped BBs could hit cruisers for 15k+ a salvo and not completly hopeless as they cant No Skill Pen all around regardless of angle. Yeah WG doing a rework would do a lot more harm based on their record on reworks, also buffing 30mm plates to 32mm wouldnt be a random buff , that would be a very specific buff against 457mm AP and 152-155mm normal HE ,shells other than that wouldnt even be effected , 180mm and higher HE and 100mm IJN IFHE and 460mm AP already get past both 30 and 32mm, and 130mm & lower HE cant pen 30 , 380s and 406s 410s bounce on 30 and 32mm too. So it is pretty much a targeted indirrect nerf to one of the games most OP gun caliber. You may suggest a direct nerf to 457s .. but the Thunderer and the Georgia was sold before WG decided to put the " may change if necessary" tag on them, so that would be trouble to do on WGs side.

Wow nice MM. I guess i must be lucky as i havent seen double T8 or T10 CV game for years.
-
There are multiple: There are CV but no meaningfull AA or no AA at all.... often its 2 CV which is disabled from T8 and on. DDs lack vibale counters , very few hydro & no radar at all. Very few decent player plays on that tier so as a veteran in a DD you can pretty much own the match. Missions doesnt progress bellow T5.
-
I simply dont play my cruisers with the 30mm plating design anymore , as they are just not viable with all the large guns & only play ships with virtually no armor like Smolensk , or Italian or Soviet ships with 40-60mm platings as those still enable me to use my skill to angle and deflect BB shots. Des Moines and the Hindenburg were hit the hardest by this , with a 457mm you can citta the Des just as easy as a Mino ... but the Mino has a super heal , Hinden used to have an armor which hold up pretty well close up ... now you will just efortlessly blap it for 10-20k on that range. Zao and Henry were also hit, but not nearly as bad , Yoshino too. As a side note .. if BBs ask for 460mm and above guns they would also start to suffer from the Overmatch powercreep as if a gun overmatch the 32mm Side plate that will also overmatch the BB bows and this is hopefully enough of a scare sign not to ask for them :P Also maybe BBs should just put some effort into aiming .. even a 380mm can pen most cruisers with AP trough the bow, and i yet to hear any decent player calling the Bourgogne underpowered. Also the game was totally working fine when it was only the Yamato who could overmatch the 30mm plates.
-
From BBs perspective: Well 406s are pretty lacking right now the 457s are just flat out better, the DPMs are really close, the lower barell count usually give better accuracy stats usually, so probably the effective dpm is even closer: GK vs Preussen 315k vs 300k Iowa vs Georgia 243k vs 218k Conqu vs Thunderer 312k vs 274k The extra pen also make those guns more suited for hitting BBs citta on mid-long range , and you overmatch the medium armored cruisers. From Cruisers perspective: The normal CAs with the 30mm plating vs the 457s are even more fragile than the light cruisers like Colbert an Smolensk since they are far more likely to get citta or regular pen regardless of angle , while the CLs will not trigger the 457s and get overpen if pretty often, while they also sport way way more DPM guess I dont have to bring up the numbers on a Colbert Smolensk or Austin to make a point. That 30mm armor back in the day was designed in order to deflect the high tier BB shells if you angle well and the ships with it were designed with that in mind.
-
Well 32mm deck would be more usefull, but probably that would hurt the 152mm equiped ships a bit too hard. Yeah big guns should be scarry , but by todays standard 457mm is standard for T10 , 460s and 510s would still punch past the 32mm the same way.

It is just BS to put flags which has nothing to do with the ship. Most of the flags you asked for have never ever even operated a cruiser ( Except for Ukraine in 1917) , not to mention that those countries doesnt even existed in that era where the ships you mentioned. If any of those designs were made they would have been operated by the USSR , not Russia, not Estonia , not Belorus and not Ukraine. Unlike the Lo Yang and the Anshan , which were indeed operated by the Republic of China and the PRC. If we really want to give some ship for Ukrain , WG should add Volya ( Freedom) which indeed used an Ukranian flag in 1917 , but that BB would be fit for T3-4 max. Or add a T4 Izyaslav copy with some gimmick as Lennuk to Estonia, that also was a real ship in estonian service. I have nothing against addig Ukrain to the game , hell i would even like if WG would do an event and sell that Ukranian BB with donating the income to support refugees or red cross ... on the other hand with your recomendation just sounds like some crappy virtue signaling, i think your intentions are right but pulling this would just look low effort #Istandwithukraine .. but doing exactly nothing which im a bit fed with, If we want to show some support , we should do it right and do it in a way what indeed help. Sorry for the rant, i have probably a bit over pushed it , but im just a bit pissed with the social media heroes, and this suggestion looked quite a bit like that to me, i dont suggest that you are this type , but there are so many of this people with big talk and nothing to back it up, just words.

Sometimes i wish i had an Enterprise. Shokaku has decent torps too, but you need to rotate the squads and conserve planes ... with Kaga you can just spam your way trough & still not run out but without the AP bombers, and a bit better torp squad.

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance
deathsadow replied to Excavatus's topic in General Discussion
Why , probably as an avg player you have way more controll over the bxp gains than on your WR. Im an 53% WR avg dude some days i win 70-80% of my games some days I win around 20-30% ... the only constant seem to be the bxp i gain on losses and wins on the short term like 100 games ( around a months play in my case) , so i play for the base exp aswell. Maybe if i would tryhard for win in can get a 1% more win rate so maybe one game i would get 600-700 more BXP out of the 100 , but even if by farming for base exp i can get like 10 exp more each of the 100 rounds ..which isnt all that hard to get im already better rewarded than playing for the win. Im not saying that im not trying to win , i just probably play more deffensive in early to mid game than what would be optimal for turning games for my team ... so i can grab caps and kills in the late-mid game for a large sum of exp. Also i usually focus low max HP targets .. hitting a 5k salvo into a 50k HP cruiser worth double the exp than hitting the same salvo to a 100k HP BB. -
Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance

Well probably it works this way for most player. On me it has the oppostie effect , this MM is just so much of a letdown that i wouldnt spend a dime on the game cause i know that in a week i would regret it. But im short of fine with this screwed MM , probably if the MM would be skill based i would buy 1-2 prem ship each year ... instead i spent that money on my other hobbies like Airsoft and Photographing , which are probably better worth it anyways than some pixel ships. Yeah unlike in WoT here you can get premiums without grinding 24/7 in a marathoon. I got 36 premium ship on the T6-9 & the only one i paid for was the Cossak ( get the ship for 1 EUR was a bargain). And Derpizt and Pommern players are the main indicator that buying a prem will not get you better. Maybe the only T8 prem i consider a skill booster is the Massa ... even if you are really bad those 2nds will get you much better resoults than if you would be on the NC ( NC main guns are more accurate ... but for a potato player im not even sure if that even helps ) -
That what is the relation between a 1940s Soviet ship and modern days countries. Or you mean this kind of flag? Ukranian SSR: As this one is only oficial since 1991 .. and ships from the 40s-50s would be long scrapped by that point anyways:
-
Which ones you consider better ? Guess some premium ones , i got all the tech line ones & there its hands down the winner, the only 2 prem i got from loot sofar are the Kaga which is a close match to it & the Saipan which is pretty meh in my opinion.
-
I will never understand why WG is so fixated only on the high tiers .. probably it has to do with the money from it T9 prem is 19k doubs , T5 is like 3k ... but T 4-6 are also pretty fun, if there is no CV to spoil it.
-
Damn i hear it so often, but mostly from Hungarians. Greetings from Vienna so wouldnt mind it.

Supercontainers seem to be worse than regular container sometimes

I got 50 of the +600% green FXP booster ... thats not so bad. -
Yeah Shokaku is the best CV tier to tier nowdays ... I dont know maybe the Enterprise is still better but i dont have it and cant get it.
