Haven't heard or experienced that yet. Yes, cruisers get to defend themselves from BBs - IJN ones more so than USN ones. Claiming that they're perceived as a "hard counter" to BBs is an exaggeration, to say the least. In mid to low tiers that may be the case with 152mm HE spam being moderately effective. At high tiers, CAs lack the DPM to effectively deal with BBs unless they're given side shots and can actually use AP. Downing a BB with pure 203mm HE takes forever and is in no way efficient as you're bound to trade a decent amount of hitpoints with the added risk of being citpenned and sunk within one salvo.

Tier differences are interesting in this game. Pensacola -> New Orleans, to me, seems like a downgrade, for example. You can find similar examples in other lines at other tiers like Kuma -> Furutaka or Minekaze -> Mutsuki. One can even argue that St Louis is a much better ship than Phoenix. BBs and CVs are easily the classes that scale the most.

Law of averages. Your winchance is never 0%, no matter how much the matchup is stacked against you. I'd be curious as to what the winchance over a large samplesize of 0-CV-vs-1-CV matchups is. Unfortunately, Wargaming is never going to publish these statistics.

Heh. Refunds. Good luck with that.

You could also just enable replays. Way easier, saves you a lot of harddrive space. Here's how you do it: https://na.wargaming.net/support/Knowledgebase/Article/View/398/20/enabling-replays-in-world-of-warships-closed-beta Also, isn't naming and shaming against the forum rules?

You get a random mission every day. It has nothing to do with the slot that mission was placed in.

Impossible to Evade Carrier Torps. (Not when you evade properly).

While I dislike what suricatu blurted out in that post you quoted, I can't help but question what WoT has to do with any of these discussions. They require very different skillsets and work on different timescales. It is perfectly reasonable for a person to suck balls at one game and do reasonably well at the other one. -
Second-line torping is an absolute no-go unless you've communicated your intention to your teammate.

Getting that achievement causes the recipient to be awarded ten flags that prevent magazine detonation. It's a consolation for being blown up more or less early by RNGsus.

MM is fine: 1 X, 2 IX vs 1 VII

Ahh, the magic of top tier divisions. -
I'm not sure if you realize how fitting your nick is, considering the topic at hand.

Omaha is awesome! Had my highest damage game in the OBT phase in that thing: That grind was really enjoyable. Also, B-hull all the way! -
I'm fairly certain you do get some kind of reward for shooting down planes. Both of my highest earning games in terms of exp have been games where I shot down 40+ planes in my Pepsicola while the damage I've dealt wasn't exactly spectacular. Those games were 3.5k and 3.3k base exp respectively. Now, obviously, these are the exception and no sane CV player will just throw his poop at you if there's a better target. In both of these games I managed to corner the CVs, Hiryus in both cases. Virtually every other game I tried to be a teamplayer in ended up with the CV changing the course of his squadrons and me wasting both time and effort trying to prevent their attack. There's nothing forcing him to engage a "protected" - and I use this term very loosely - target when that target is protected by a 32kn CA and his planes go >100kn.
-
To add to that: Mid tier cruisers (Phoenix, Omaha and all IJN cruisers) tend to have enormous citadels. They're extremely easy to one- or two-shot with BBs if they're silly enough to give you a broadside.
-
This is strictly not true. HE and AP may have the same damage potential upon citadel penetrations. You will, however, virtually never penetrate citadels with HE. With AP you can do that more or less reliably if you know where and how to shoot specific targets, meaning that your DPM increases significantly despite both shell types having the same damage potential. Edit: Please don't buy high tier premium ships if you don't know how to AP. I've seen way too many Atagos pull up a broadside on my Pensacola or New Orleans only to shoot me with HE. They, on the other hand, will get two- or three-shot by me or my team with AP in the same turn.

He didn't really attempt that, though. -
I've been getting back into tier 8 and up since the wipe and I decided to try the 'Target Acquisition Distance' equipment. It reads "+20% to maximum acquisition range" and I've been interpreting that as a 20% penalty to surface detectability ranges of enemy ships. It apparently doesn't seem to work like that as the maximum distance I was spotting Minekazes at was still 5.9km. My question to you fine folks would be: What exactly is it supposed to do?

A certain Hiryu decided to run into me instead of away from me. Unfortunately, I didn't get the kill - a friendly BB snatched him at 500hp left with three fires going. Also, matches like these make me question the legitimacy of Ectar's statement "CVs are dead if they get into the range of someone's guns". Cornered CVs are way scarier than cornered artillery, for example, and it takes a while to bring them down. -

Cheers. Seems a tad useless to me. -
They do get more torps to play with to "compensate" for the issue you described in the last sentence. A Shimakaze's carpet torping ability can be really scary if you get cought off guard in your BB. I feel like virtually all the issues DDs are facing right now are down to two things: 1) Smoke nerf and 2)high tier CV's ability to permanently keep track of both the DD itself and the torps it launched. Just about everything else, even the low survivability, seems fine to me. Your mileage may vary, obviously.
-
I actually agree with you but I don't think this is the place for such a discussion.
-
He's talking about learning how to read a CV's approach. If you're trying to dodge torps that're already in the water with a BB you've already lost. The maximum spotting distance is roughly 8km if your view is unobstructed. Regarding OP's issue: The game is in dire need for a WoT-like MM where it balances artillery/CVs on both teams against each other. I'm not going to say more as I'd risk ranting for way too long about how ridiculous some constellations can be and how higher tier carriers cause grief for just about everyone, including other high tier carrier players.

Have you suffered through the Langley, by chance?

You'll have a hard time losing money during individual games until you reach very high tiers. What can happen and has happened to me in early tiers is me losing money during normal gameplay if you account for progression (modules, new ships). Even though I didn't use equipment or paid retraining I managed to lose a considerable sum during early tiers just because modules tend to be quite expensive. This doesn't seem to happen in high tiers. Now, at tier 7 I'm at 75% of my next ship's research requirement in terms of exp while having already made enough money to buy it.
