See my post above. There is no challenge, especially for better players, if everyone can reach five stars no matter what they do, so to speak. However, I also found it hard to save the carrier because the AI CV always seems to spawn on the point where it can get the least support (i.e. the furthes away from most of the players). Maybe it could help when the players' BBs split up. One stays near the southern CV spawn, the another one near the eastern spawn point. But until now BBs always seem to wander off to one side, leaving one spawn point for itself (where of cause the CV will spawn). However, this is something players have to take care of. Yes, it is bad for the other five or six team mates when one or two BBs are asked to stay south but they don't. But WG shouldn't pin players to a certain position so they fulfill the tasks which are necessary. If I come to it I'll just try it with one or two mates. At least we can properly coordinate ourselves.

All that is "too hard" for random teams is getting all five stars in a mission. But then it wouldn't be a bit of a challenge if you got five stars no matter how dumb your team is, don't you think? Three stars are very well possible for winning alone, four are a bit harder. And you can get five with a very organized teams, be it a full division or a team full of random people who actually know what matters.

The funny thing is: I think we don't even need such a screenshot. I mean... look at his post: "Weekend rats"? "Weekend scum"? "I hope they will end up without internet"? Come on.

If I am not mistaken we had such stories after every campaign and event. Always the same. "I have the last task unlocked but meh, I'll go to bed now and can do the rest tomorrow... Oh no, where are the missions?" Yes, canceling the event before the official time is up is sub par. But besides that there was plenty of time to reach every goal (Bismarck camo, Bismarck/credits, Hood camo), a quick look at the usual server maintenance time should have made it clear that there is actually less time than WG announced.

Is this a bug or it's supposed to be this way?
Tungstonid replied to HipHopHippopotamus's topic in General Discussion
Not a bug but the ships sits on the rocks underwater I guess. At least this is how I explained it to myself. It only really happens in situations like this though and only if you "hit" the island on such a flat angle. -
No, not really. I didn't buy the Hood and neither did I use premium time, yet I had the collection complete after about one or one and a half weeks without using duplicates and not playing every day or playing excessively. I still got the Bismarck (or in my case the credit bonus) and had several days left. Again: I didn't grind for hours every day. I think one could save a bit of time by taking the right combination of task or leave out certain tasks which needed too much luck.

Bismarck Secondary Range not improving
Tungstonid replied to Dane_With_No_Name's topic in General Discussion
Actually you need Advanced Firing Training, the signal flag AND the secondary Module to reach the 10.6 km. Basic Firing training only reduces the reload of secondary batteries. -
Which is not possible because the maximum difference between ships in a division is one tier. But you are right. Although OP's (initial) intend is not to improve his own MM or to get an advantage, some people will definitvely use it to "cheat the system" aka improving their odds with the sole intend to have better MM and not because one or two of them don't have higher tier ships.

There is a difference between playing the objective and doing a pointless suicide rush. Have a guess what your strategy sounds like... The former includes retreating/kiting the enemy if you have little to no support. The latter just puts your team at a disadvantage most of the times. The art is to find a suitable middle way between borderline camping and yolo rushing. If it is pushing with the rest of the team, great. If it is retreating and kiting because you are outnumbered and outgunned... not ideal, but it can't be helped. But charging in no matter what and dying early because you don't want to be called a camper is maybe even more harmful than camping.

Regarding the devastating strikes: You did what? Watch one or two games of an above average (I assume) player where he managed to deal two devastating strikes? Bravo... Did you also count the times where is opponents should have received high damage but the dispersion made it like two shots too short, three shots too far, two bounces and one overpen? How often did that happen? I'd agree on the other issues though. The AA on some BBs could/should be lower (although I disagree that a BB should die to a CV in one strike if he is taking evasive actions). The equipment of the Hood and especially the supposed equipment of the RN BBs (although this is not fixed according to whoever of the WG statt answered the thread) is debatable at best. Lowering the citadel of USN BBs... well, not necessary IMO. However, I am not sure if you can compare the Kaga setup with a Midway. CVs already take a leap in power from tier 8 to tier 9 and 10. The Kaga is using squadrons of six torpedoe bombers, that is right, but as far as I know they are of tier 6 while Kaga is tier 7. So if the Kaga attacks ships of the same tier, she will almost guaranteed lose planes. The Midway on the other hand uses tier 10 torpedoe bombers (as in torpedoe bombers of the samer tier as the CV) hence there will be a difference in their performance.

Greetings, fellow forumites and model builders, I recently bought the TAMIYA 1/350 Yamato model (2013) for about 85€ (it was on discount, the real price was about 105€). While building I looked up what other ships were available that I could add to get a small collection. Maybe a DD, a CV and a CA/CL, all in the same scale. Here starts my dilemma and some questions arouse. As a student I'd like to keep prices ... reasonable. While looking up models of ships I was very surprised about what other model kits of ships of smaller sizes cost. DDs like the Kagero were ok, I guess. But CAs like the Tone and Mogami are remarkably more expensive at about 130€ with discount and a full price of 165€. Not to mention CVs, where I found different offers from other companies (Hasegawa and Fujimi) that start at 200€. When I started my search I somewhat expected the Yamato to be one of the more expensive ships with ships getting cheaper the smaller they get. So did I get a comparably old model which led to low price of my Yamato? Or are there just more parts in a kit for CA? And is anyone aware of cheaper model kits for ships like the Tone and CVs like the Shoukaku? Are there any kits you can recommend?

Thank you for the websites. I had a quick look at it and it looked good. CVs still seem pretty expensive though. Seems like it can't be helped.

And you do not use one of the at least two recent topics because...?

Well, I like her. Great rudder shift time, feels mobile, good guns. Accuracy feels ok'ish. Her downsides are that she has no real AA, so you will be a good target for carriers. And it feels like she is lacking a bit of armour, especially on the bow when facing anything with a calibre greater than 356 mm. However, I would contradict Geralt_z_Rivii365. Of all tier 6 BBs she might be the best (maybe besides the Bayern) for getting uptiered. You can "tank" as much as other BBs but your guns can hurt tier 7 and 8 BBs, because you basically have the guns that are used by tier 7, 8 and 9 IJN BBs (at least in terms of calibre). Overall I feel she is worth it. I try to get her daily bonus every day to train my captains.

There are exactely two "approaches" in your thread. One is about skill based MM which, according to WG, won't happen. The other one is a troll attempt at best, calling the old Minekaze a skill barrier. How is that constructive? The likes your OP got say nothing. Sure, a lot of players want things like skill based MM. That's why they like your OP. That doesn't make it any more constructive or gives you permission to swear or insult.

First of all, this thread will be closed anyway because actions of moderators shall not be discussed here. But it was, wasn't it? Let me translate what everyone else but you saw in your thread: "Mimimi mimimi mimimi". Swearing and name calling doesn't get you anywhere and there was no constructive criticism (i.e. an idea one can discuss) in your thread. WG is Belorussian, not Russian. Go there and call them Russian and see what happens. There was no constructive solution. Maybe you want to google what that actually means. I have yet to find a way to achieve 7 reports in a single game. Maybe you should think about your manners, considering what tone you use here on the forum without any random players making your blood boil.

Don't want to be that guy but if what you wrote is true you are probably doing it wrong. I play close and supportive, too, but rarely (if at all) do I see camper BBs coming on top of me in the leaderboard. They usually lack the experience earned for things like tanking (and sometimes spotting), capping as well as an increased damage output due to the closer distance. Without knowing how exactely you play, it is important for a brawling BB to consider different things: Do I have support I can count on? Map awareness! Where are the strong points of my armour and how can I angle most efficiently. Is my BB even suitable for brawling? Where are the most dangerous enemies in my vicinity that I should consider for angling/evasive maneuvres Do I have support I can count on? Map awareness! Can I limit the directions of incoming fire e.g. by islands. Where are the "juiciest" targets (Broadside cruisers and BBs, DDs) Do I have support I can count on? Map awareness! Additionally one could add things like manually designating targets for AA or secondary batteries even without the skills that require it, especially for your Bismarck and Warspite if you choose to go for secondary battery builds and for an AA build on your Hood respectively.

I, too, am missing something like a "Once per year" option.

From what I saw and besides that most of the entries were great contributions, a lot of them did not follow the submission rules. Some were built months if not years ago and had no pictures of the progress (including mine which I built last month but I noticed the contest too late so I had none). Some didn't have signs with user name and date etc. Also the rules stated that only one entry per person is allowed. So if you posted both pictures in the same entry, as beautiful as they might be, it probably is a violation of the rules. Not to mention that there are no signs with your name and date.

Which will definitevely work as intended. Especially, when one flank falters and ships have to retreat through the spawn area.

I didn't posted those reasons with you in mind, let alone with this specific conversation. The problem with people pulling the stat argument is that the limit, so to say, from which on they take someone seriously is very individual. Some listen to people with a WR of 50%, others dismiss everyone with a lower WR or WTR than themselves with "Shut up, noob!". The second thing about this is that some people will look at the stats of their opponent and either pull something out that is convenient for them or even misinterpret them in their favours, so to speak. I agree that those things don't necessarily have to end in an ad hominem but it is the most common as far as my experience goes. You can't tell me that you have never seen this, considering that you spent much more time in this forum than I did.

I'll just quote myself here:

Thanks for the laugh. But I think you got my idea and that I didn't mean every BB player but the one OP actually wants to address. If you find similar ways for other classes who don't play the objective I am ok with that. You know, DDs going all around the map so they can find the enemy CV or going from on flank to the other right at the start of the battle although they should care about domination caps. And CAs who turn tail and run away in sight of a weak force although they should support their team mates or sniping from some 20 km away although they should bring things like radar, hydro and defensive AA fire into play.
-
Not really for BBs, at least not for the "troublemakers". All you will hear is "I can't spot with BB or I get killed, I can't cap with BB because I am too slow and too big and get killed." Rather this, although it is still quesitonable if the players who should be encouraged by this read the patch notes at all and will take notice of the change. And even if they do, another unsure thing is whether they actually change their playstyle or if they continue to "play save".
