What Was In Your Crimson Containers? - Revolutionary Rewards
Tungstonid replied to iJoby's topic in General Discussion
Today should start a marathon of missions which will reward you with the Oktober Revolution. With this you should be able to get those Crimson Crates, too. However, the last stage will be unlocked one week before the event ends. -
Everyone experiences tier differences in the team because the MM allows that in a certain range (IIRC if you add all tiers of a team together, it shouldn't differ in more than one or two from the enemy team). The "problem" is not that it happens but what every player/team makes out of it. To be fair, you can extrapolate this to 68 times out of 80 battles or roughly 75 times out of 88 battles. If I say that a football club wins once every four games, it doesn't mean they have only played four games so far.

rant ( my first ever tier10 ) what the ... is this ?
Tungstonid replied to wot_chikor's topic in General Discussion
Don't be disappionted about the low tier carriers. You can't attack manually with planes of tier 4 and 5 CVs but this mechanic is very important. So, the "real" CV experience and starts at tier 6. But be aware that CVs are in strange state right now. Their performance can reach from useless to dominator of the battlefield and you never know what you get. Also, the skill gap between two CV players has a more noticeable influence on the whole battle than any other class. -
rant ( my first ever tier10 ) what the ... is this ?
Tungstonid replied to wot_chikor's topic in General Discussion
In case you mean to buy the Kaga (the Akagi is not in the game and there are no other IJN CVs to buy with which sounds like dubloons/real life money) I really recommend to get some normal CVs first and practice a bit and make yourself familiar with the controls. Playing CVs is a different experience than other ship classes and joining higher tier battles with not even 100 battles under your belt is never a good idea. Unless you are some natural talent, the chances are high that you will get frustrated rather quickly. So, please play normal CVs at least up to tier 6 first to learn the basics. For your and your team's sake. -
Isn't that on the other hand unfair against people with ships having different consumables available for the radar slot? Example: Your team got two Baltimores and a Des Moines. Let's assume for the sake of the example, that you know all of them use radar. Now, the enemy team got a Missouri and a Baltimore as obvious radar ships but since MM now balances the number of radar ships, one is missing. The enemy team also got a Minotaur as the only other - though unlikely - possibility for a radar ship. Now you know that the Minotaur does not use smoke but radar which takes away the element of surprise. Well, it doesn't seem like a big thing. But it still provides advantages and disadvantages in certain setups.

Without having looked at your stats, if you have played regularly (which for me means two to three hours on several days a week) why didn't you get it? I haven't played regurlarly yet I managed to complete the collection way before time was up. There were some really easy achievements which you could have gotten every 24 hours adding up to about 3 or 4 duplicates a day. Sure, some were complicated and/or undoable without the right ships (like the "Death by Baguette" for me). But some of the really basic ones should have gotten you all the duplicates you need plus some bonus credits after finishing the collection. You've got a Parcel Waiting for You! --> 1500 base exp in one battle Skipper on Deck! --> 2500 commander's exp (especially easy with a premium ship, flags and/or camo) Like a Pro --> 1000 base exp and win the battle in tier 7 Ho-Ho-Ho --> Win a battle with any christmas convoy related ship (Graf Spee, Fuso, Tirpitz, Leander, Bayern, Budyonny, Farragut) Two more could have been easily done in Coop. Others like Not a pyramid Scheme! (earn 400k credits in one battle) or Paint it Gold! (earn 500k credits in a tier 10 ship) needed a bit more effort or the right ships and equipment but were still easily doable once per day/session. So IMO your rant and complaint is not justified.

[Info] Torpedo Spreadsheets, incl. reaction time and chances of flooding
Tungstonid replied to WeGreedy's topic in General Discussion
The reaction time is the time the target has to react? Just asking to be sure. And I take that this is without any skills (Torpedoe Acceleration, Vigilance) and consumables activated? IMO it is questionable if you need that for the CV torpedoes. sure, it is nice to know but they are launched way closer to the ships anyway, not to mention that you usually see the aircraft anyway.- 133 replies

Tungstonid replied to wot_chikor's topic in General Discussion
I wouldn't got as far as saying people who spend money don't experience the same game. But they have certain advantages over "normal" (i.e. non-premium) players like more credits and exp. And that is exactely what they pay for. Otherwise there wouldn't be any point in spending money, would it? Again, this is the same as in every F2P MMO. You either pay money for a faster progress (and I'd include credits to play higher tiered ships here) or you have to invest more time and how much time depends on your skill level. -
rant ( my first ever tier10 ) what the ... is this ?
Tungstonid replied to wot_chikor's topic in General Discussion
No, you are still incorrect or rather you exaggerate a lot. Most hobbies, including WoWS, require money and/or time if you are ambitious. So where is the problem? This is not a WG-only thing. Want to win races with a super model car? You have to invest money for a good one or take time (and skill) to improve yours. Want to drive a fancy car? You have to invest money in tuning/customizing or time and skill to do it yourself. Want to join a good hobby music band? Probably time AND money for practising, a good instrument, skills, etc. Even other MMOs need you to invest way more money and/or time if you want to play at the top. Whereas in WoWS you can completely avoid the money part by playing a low tier game from time to time. So, if you have ambitions to play a lot of high tier games without any money you can do this. But, just like everything else, it comes at a cost in the form of time spent on lower tiers. So it can be completely free but for this it doesn't need "no ambitions at higher tiers" or "unlimited time and patience". As I said before, WoWS is not the typical "grind for the top tier and stay there" kind of F2P MMO like most others are. -

So, is it the best comment in this thread because he is the only one agreeing with you? Besides some of the "You are noob" comments (which you can ignore), there are plenty with honest advice and explanation. Yes, it is hard to make money at tier 9 and 10 without any aid like permanent camouflage, signals or premium account, service fees are expensive and modules a lot of both experience and credits. But there are also reasons besides WG wanting to make money and it is very well possible to use tier 9 and 10 ships a lot without any aid. However, only a few players can do so without playing lower tiers for credits and you are not one of them (yet). Neither am I by the way. WoWS (as well as WoT and WoWP) is not the typical "grind until max level and stay there" MMO like most others are. You are either motivated and meant to keep ships at lower levels, have enough skill so it is not necessary or invest some money. I don't really see a problem with that, not even ethically. And as said before, it is not even the case that all lower tier ships are totally trash and unplayable. There are definitvely fine and fun ships below tier 10. -

Tungstonid replied to wot_chikor's topic in General Discussion
I don't think the system is broken, although I rarely have any premium account running except when I get it for free because of a mission or something. It might seem unfair if you don't have the means to win credits every round but it also offers advantages like A) players pay money to increase their income which finances the server and further developement of the game and B) players who can't/don't want to pay will populate the lower tiers which makes it easier for newer players to find matches. That said, despite not running premium time and rarely using any premium ships I have never encountered a time when I thought "Wow, now I have to quit the game because I can't afford to play anymore". Sure, I am definitively not the richest guy and able to buy several tier 10 ships if I wanted to but I still make money and can progress in the tech trees. This is because I am not only playing tier 9 and tier 10 ships (although I might even make - very little - money if I do so) but everything from tier 3 to tier 10 because on the one hand I have different lines I want to progress which makes me play lower tiers and on the other hand I don't care which tier I battle in as long as it is fun. So instead of blaming WG for their - admittedly smart - economic system you should adapt one way or the other. Why is alternately battling in tier 10 and tier 6/7 not acceptable for you? Why do you want to make dozens of battles in a tier 10 ship in a row? Actually I did all of this. Manually retrained my Shima captain battle by battle. Unlocked torpedoes without free exp. Everything without premium account or permament camouflage. It still worked out. However, I took her out some days ago after letting her sleep for a while. Used the second torpedoe set which felt really disappointing compared to some months ago. Maybe I'll give the stock torpedoes another try. I'd say everyone here likes the game, yet a lot of people are telling you that they don't rush it but rather enjoy the way up to the top which IMO is the right thing to do. Not every tier 10 ship is the ultimate uber machine and barely any ship below their 10 is utter crap and not worth playing. If you want to go play tier 10 only, ok. But you will have to live with the consequences. I think it is better not only to go to the top tier but to also keep lower tier ships you enjoy. -
Helping cruisers is easier than what you might think.

As long as you do something against the low overpen damage/pens without damage/bounces/ricochets on CAs broadsiding 8 km away from me which regularly nets me 4-5k damage salvoes with a reload of 30 seconds, I am fine with that. And before you come here with the "Git gud" argument... Right back at you. -
Is the 4 point Fire Prevention captain skill worth it?
Tungstonid replied to Armorin's topic in General Discussion
No, every ship has 4 fire zones. Bow, aft, middle and superstructure. Fire Prevention basically combines the two zones in the middle (middle zone and superstructure) into one bigger area. This means that enemies which are hitting the middle of your ship (probably the area hit most often anyway) can only start one fire there. IMO very useful but other people prefer concealment expert which IMO is wasted points. So it comes down to preference. Additionally you get a reduced fire chance, which might help further. -
Double your loot with a Mystery Bag from the Wargaming Store!
Tungstonid replied to P2Win's topic in General Discussion
Not a professional regarding laws but isn't this considered to be gambling which is forbidden when minors are involved? Mind you, this game is for people 12 years and older. Anyway, if they really put stuff worth 100€ in a box for 50€, objectively you don't lose anything. So, why not? However, people tend to be unsatisfied no matter what they get because "but I wanted to have this one" or "my this guy got way cooler stuff than me". -
I had the same feeling today. Then I realized that the Kiev's stock rudder shift time is just $h1t. I'm sorry, I'll see myself out now.

I wouldn't go as far as the OP and make BBs visible no matter where they are or increase their base detectability. However, I'd agree to make the captain skill as well as the camo module less attractive for BBs.
-
The thing is that some teamplay actions (like smoking, spotting is an exception) are not taken into consideration as far as rewards go, probably because WG has no means to reliably determine teamplay, let alone the intention. As far as I know smoking team mates doesn't give anything or at least not a significant amount, because a neutral program can't determine if you have layed your smoke screen just for you and a team mate happened to "accidentally" use it or if you tried to screen your whole fleet. If you just give exp and credits for every smoke screen which was entered by allies, you will have people abusing it by smoking the entire fleet at the start of the match without any use or divisions where members will smoke each other the whole game stacking up profit in the process. So unless WG finds a reliable way to reward teamplay (although winning the battle might give the biggest reward) I doubt they will implement anything.

According to a teaser made by the Youtuber Panzerknacker, Musashi is confirmed to appear as a Tier 9 Premium BB. However: He didn't give any sources as far as I have seen.

My Shima dares to disagree. No concealment advantage, slower than other DDs, you can't use the guns if you want to avoid incoming fire, no torpedoe reload booster and if you actually want to do any near-decent damage you have to hope for the enemy to be braindead/completely unaware of your existence/not getting shot at so he doesn't change his course. It is really no fun anymore to drive Shima and I say that as someone who got her after the heavy nerfs.

Game centre is so bad its puttign me off playing
Tungstonid replied to TheNinjaGranny's topic in General Discussion
What is the WG game centre? I have a nice icon on my desktop I can double-click which starts the lauchner. No extra program needed, works just fine... -
Long range secondary guns or AA guns? AFAIK every secondary gun on a ship in this game has the same range, no matter the calibre. If you mean AA guns you are right. The 2x127 mm DP guns are high calibre AA guns which usually have the highest range. And I think the 1944 hull even doubles the number of DP guns compared to the 1942 hull.
-
If Musashi gets the 1944 hull it is the same as the Yamato we currently have. If it gets the 1942 hull it will be a downgrade in both secondary and AA armament. Less secondary guns with a lower rate of fire (but slightly higher damage and maybe fire chance), less DP guns/high calibre AA guns, less small calibre AA guns. This is nothing anyone would grind for AND use it.

"Didn't care, still finished, therefore easy." Really? Good for you that you had the luck to finish the mission without extra effort. Some others tried to actually finish it and got nearly insane by doing so. As I said. A mission? Ok. A hard mission with an appropriate reward? Ok. A frustrating and dumb mission? Hell no, please.
