When even the CC's know you are ignoramuses, you know you're headed for the trash bin
xxNihilanxx replied to Azrael_Ashemdion's topic in General Discussion
This is, indeed, true but it doesn't make him wrong. The way that rewards are skewed in favour of damage rather than for actually playing the objectives is ridiculous. Not just in ranked either. One of the biggest complaints that people have with this game is that the ships that should be up front, the BBs (you know, the tanky ships that should be tanking damage) are so frequently the ones furthest from the fight. People say this is due to cowardice or not wanting to get their paintwork scratched but the reality is that WG have made the rewards system such that this is usually the most effective way to earn rewards in this game. Players will always find a way to optimise their gains in a game and so BBs sitting far from anywhere farming damage rewards is the result. WG have, through either design or incompetence, created the gameplay we see daily. BBs are probably the most popular class and they earn their rewards specifically through not playing the objectives but by sitting at the back farming damage. When you put this principle into a ranked scenario where the highest XP earner on the losing team keeps a star it leads to people sitting as safe as possible, as far away as possible, just farming damage points. WG know this, they have been told it so often and yet they are too stubborn to listen. It's a shame but that's the way they are, I guess.- 33 replies

Co-op safe AFK players...a easy way to make points

Could this be players working off their "orange" ban as quickly as possible? -

Your English is fine, mate. Not perfect but totally understandable. I live in Yorkshire and you are far more intelligible than half the people I meet. It's your in-game situational awareness that needs a bit of work, if anything. Just play out your penalty in co-op and be a little more careful in future with your torps - especially if you are already pink from previous team damage. -
That should have been the case all along.

We didn't really stand much of a chance, to be honest. Lost my div mate in his DD very early and the remaining green DDs just sailed around the map edge, avoiding the caps. I could "almost" forgive the Asashio for playing like that but the Z-23 had no excuse. The match became one of those "do as much damage as possible before we lose on points" games. -

Met @Culiacan_Mexico yesterday on Solomon Islands/Standard Mode in one of my first games back after a month-long hiatus. Sailing my Gulio Cesare with Culiacan on the red team in the excellent Shenyang. After a tough slog we managed to pull back what had looked like a totally lost game until the point that there was me and one other BB on the green team vs Culiacan as the sole enemy survivor. Unfortunately we were seriously down on points by this time, with only two minutes remaining, and so he did the correct thing and just stayed out of detection range leaving us unable to catch him before the time ran out. Well played sir. -
What....? How....? Did you break into my house with a camera?

Was a good battle. As you said their Gadjah Mada helped us a lot by playing quite poorly, preferring to sneak cap our home spawn instead of holding you guys back. Always good to see you in-game. -
Manual drop is disabled on tiers 4&5. From tier 6 upwards CVs can use manual (alt) drops.

Well, thanks to you and others like you who actually bought the premium crates, the future ones will be the same. WG aren't going to stop putting paid-for loot boxes into the game if people keep buying them.

This is why radar ships MUST be balanced by MM
xxNihilanxx replied to Aotearas's topic in General Discussion
Originally you asked about the outcome of the match in question. Now you seem to have moved the goalposts to include all matches. Your example completely misses the point as this thread is about one team having all the radar and one team having none not about the number of radar ships in any given match. Edit: Given that your example includes the kind of stats that we, as players, would have no access to why not take up Aotearas on his offer? You can devide how many matches woould provide a statistically relevant sample and then see how many of those matches you can win with zero radar ships against four. I, for one, would be interested in the results.... wouldn't you? -

...and you could bet your arse that, with my luck, I'd be playing the only DD in that match. -

I've told you countless times, mate, the Flint doesn't get radar. -
If a CV is involved then the Tirpitz, lacking midrange AA, is particularly vulnerable. Problem solved

Seriously, dude, stop being so demanding. The devs have been kind enough to give us the new super-fantastic division window in port, you can't really expect them to have the time to spare on balancing the MM as well.- 71 replies

Moving Commander and Commander Skills
xxNihilanxx replied to The_Wallet_Warrior's topic in General Discussion
It's an analogy not a strawman fallacy. If you are going to use terms that you have seen others on the internet use at least have the decency to understand them first. Do what you like, man. People have tried to offer advice that would increase your (and others') enjoyment of the game but you seem determined to just behave like a typical internet twit instead. I have no intentions of getting into a flame war with you, I am far too old for that $hit. It wasn't particularly cool or original in the 90s and it's even less so now. Have fun in game and I hope to see you in battle. On the red team, of course. -
Moving Commander and Commander Skills
xxNihilanxx replied to The_Wallet_Warrior's topic in General Discussion
So when an inexperienced football player joins a team and keeps repeatedly kicking the ball into the wrong goal, the players that point out his error have severe mental problems? Well, it's an interesting theory, I'll grant you that, but it's not one that I feel would stand up to examination. Don't take things so personally, you're not the first new player to buy a Tirpitz and be totally outclassed at tier 8 and you won't be the last. The ship isn't known as the Derpitz for nothing. As I said before, you have been offered some sound advice. A wise man would take it. -
Moving Commander and Commander Skills
xxNihilanxx replied to The_Wallet_Warrior's topic in General Discussion
With whatever due respect, mate, I have to ask - what of the money and time spent by the other 11 players in your team? Is that not equally important? Your attitude here is wholly appropriate for a single-player game but largely misplaced in a team-orientated one. The implications here are that you consider your enjoyment more valuable than that of eleven other players in every match you play. Do you truly believe that you are eleven times more important than any other player you may share a team with? What has been suggested to you is good advice. A wise man would take it. -
You've got this totally arse about face. People don't play to win to get good stats, people have good stats because they play to win.

Ordinarily, yes, but not being uptiered in a T8 ship is such a rarity that it is actually those games that are more memorable to me. Look at it another way, it is widely acknowledged that T7 is somewhat a sweet spot at the moment. While this is, in part, somewhat due to the protected MM at T4 it is also because, after a certain point in the evening, most T8s will be dragged up to make up the numbers in T10 battles, due to a dwindling server population the further from prime-time you get. We know the MM algorithm tries its hardest to avoid long queues and so, as the number of T9/T10 ships in the queue diminishes, more and more T8s get pulled up to fill the slots. It may be that a game has 2 T10s and 3 T9s per side, for example, so 7 T8s will get uptiered. That's 14 people getting pulled up. Therefore there is a high probability to be one of those players given that the number of people actually in the queue at any one time, past 9-10 o'clock in the evening, is quite low. During the weekend, or on the rare occasions when I am able to play during prime-time midweek, the experience is totally different. Then there is a good chance to be top-tier in my tier 8 ships unfortunately, at those times, there is also a far higher probability of detrimental effects on my sanity. It's swings and roundabouts, I guess. Edit: If remembering the bad times, was the sole factor, then we could expect to see threads like this about just about almost every tier in the game. Observation, however, does not match that expectation. Where are the T7 always uptiered threads or T6 always uptiered threads? There are multiple threads about T8 MM but I don't see the others. That's because there is an issue with T8 MM.

Those figures, assuming they are correct, do not take time of day into account. While prime-time may well see a large number of games where T8 is top tier I can assure you that if you play outside of those hours this is entirely not the case. I usually play somewhere between 21.30 and 02.00 and during this time T8 is consistently uptiered. Shouldn't those of us who have obligations that keep us from playing at any but the busiest of times have an equally fair experience to those who can play at prime time?
