I think we can all agree that ranked battles are open to all and this includes some of the least-skilled, most clueless people in gaming history. This is experience speaking. I don't think you have any argument about that???

In all fairness, mate, my tongue was only partially in my cheek with the edit you quoted. If two players in the same clan are on opposite sides of a match and one of them suicides himself in order to secure the win for his clan mate it is quite easy to spot but, as has already been established here, it is not necessary to be in a clan to count in with a friend on voice-coms. How, then, are we to differentiate between somebody who is plain clueless and somebody who has a non-clan-tagged friend on the opposing team when we see this behaviour?

So exactly what we all had been told previously. Can we, therefore, assume that the guys in question have had their ban removed and presumably been compensated in some considerable way for the loss of gaming time brought about by this debacle? Could you also ensure that your written policy specifically states that this is the case for both random battles and ranked so as to avoid this kind of confusion going forward? Edit: With regards to the part about "trying to rig the game by not playing properly" will this include all the <50% WR players sailing around like headless chickens or suiciding into the enemy to lose a won game?

How is that relevant when, prior to this event, we had always been told that counting in in ranked was perfectly legal? The quote from MrConway that states this has even been posted in this thread. Whether this was a one-off or whether they had been counting in repeatedly makes no difference - WG previously said it was fine.

Apparently so. Does it count for members of our additional "overspill" clans too, do we know? We have three clans who all use the same TS channels (I know you guys similarly have multiple clans) - can I get banned as a member of BAD-A if I happen to find myself in the same battle as a member of BAD-F, for example?

We have asked about this specifically in the past and have been reassured that it was totally fine. Despite searching I cannot find the quote right now but I do know it has been covered several times. When was the policy changed and, more importantly, when was it communicated to the playerbase? Edit: How do you determine when two players from the same clan end up in the same ranked battle deliberately versus accidentally? Do you profess to have mind-reading equipment now? Is it finally time to get the tin-foil hats out for real?

It happens with our clan on a regular basis, we frequently find ourselves in battle with other clan members by pure chance. Now I am feeling hesitant about playing ranked in case I get into the same battle as another clan member and get banned as a result. Surely we should have an official statement on this sooner rather than later?

I understand what you are saying, however, one look at the guy's very first post shows that he says they were on the same team. How the hell could they be rigging battles in the manner you describe whilst being on the same team? If they had been on opposite sides then, I guess, it is possible that one of them could somehow rig things for the other but I don't see how they could do that from the same side. According to his post it was an enemy player who reported them so what, they were refusing to shoot and letting the enemy win? Doesn't make an ounce of sense to me.

So all these people saying "he got banned for cheating so he must have been cheating" and yet if someone comes onto the forum accusing others of cheating people say "it's impossible to cheat in WoWS cos it's all server-side so you would have to hack WG's servers" - so which is it? A little consistency guys. Looking at the screeshot provided, the ban is for something called "Contractual Battles" - do we know what this means? It looks to me that this could be WG punishing people for counting in in ranked and yet several WG staff have said in the past quite categorically that this is fine. Have WG changed their minds and not told us? @MrConway can you shed any light on this?

Well that completely depends on what I've been eating or drinking the night before.

Considering the fact that this last 12 months has been the year when WG started giving multiple free premium ships bundled with huge piles of additional goodies to people who were no longer even playing the game I cannot even begin to imagine what treasure troves of gifts await those of us who have stayed with and consistently supported the game with both our time and our financial commitment come September 17th.

I encountered @NothingButTheRain on the enemy team sailing his NorthCal on Trap. We exchanged pleasantries at the start, as you do, but unfortunately he was lumbered with one of "those" teams and despite coming top on the enemy side there was nothing he could do to stop the inevitable defeat. Was a pretty crap game for me too as the reds kept dying just that bit too quickly. Nice meeting you, mate.

@HMS_Argosax I gave you the best solution in your other thread, namely to go back to the low tiers and grind the lines naturally so that you get a good grasp of the fundamentals of this game. Now I see you asking for advice as to how play T10 ranked so I guess you just ignored that advice. We are happy to help people who ask questions but we can't help people who won't help themselves. The issues you have can't be fixed overnight or with a few lines of chat on the forum, you skipped too many ships with free XP and, consequently, are playing well above your skill level without a good understanding of basic game mechanics. Why would we want to waste our time typing out endless paragraphs of advice only to have you totally ignore it because it wasn't what you were wanting to hear? I'll say it once more. largely because I can just copy/paste: put your high-tier ships away for the time being and go back and grind your way through a ship line properly (though not DDs or CVs, for the love of god, seriously not those). It may not be what you want to hear but, trust me, it will greatly improve your enjoyment of the game, everyone who has heeded that particular piece of advice has said as much. Take your time, don't be in a rush to get to the next tier, just focus on learning to kick right-royal butt in each ship before progressing to the next. Obviously this will mean forgetting about ranked for the time being but don't worry, there will be other seasons. Seriously, I don't think we can help you to get above R15 as you have just reached your skill ceiling. You really need to learn the basics in randoms if you want a hope in hell of doing well. I don't say any of this to offend, it just happens to be the truth of the matter.

To my mind one of two things is happening here. Either the guy genuinely didn't know about concealment mechanics or this is one of the funnier troll threads I have seen in quite some time. If it's the former, well, let's cut the guy some slack. Sure he has nearly 1800 battles under his belt but, assuming he doesn't have the detection radius circle enabled on his minimap, the detection mechanics in this game are not really as intuitive as they might be - particular given WGs allergy to anything remotely resembling proper tutorials. At least he came here to ask and I thought we were kinder than this to people who asked questions. Sure, he has made one of the world's classic blunders, the most famous of which is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well known is never buy a high-tier premium and play at tiers well above your skill level. Of course his understanding of the game is less than it could be if he has skipped the grind that most of us used to actually learn the game. You only have to read through this thread to see he is a bit slow on the uptake. He seems to struggle with the simplest of concepts.

Add into this the fact that WG, in their infinite wisdom, are providing the playerbase with more and more ways to skip the lower tiers. We had two Xmas events that rewarded T6 ships in several lines - I myself used these to skip the low-tier Brit CLs and go straight to Leander as well as skipping the JianWei to go straight to Fushun (newer players may well have skipped more lines this way) We have had missions to get T3, T4 & T5 Brit BBs when they were released - so I could start that grind at the T5 (I actually chose to play the Orion but you get the idea) We had missions in crates to give us the T5, T6 & T7 French BBs We will soon be given the chance to skip some of the low and mid tier Brit DDs. Free Bismarcks for all. The list seems set to go on.
