What is the easiest way to farm planes?
xxNihilanxx replied to black_falcon120's topic in General Discussion
Well my mother is in her 70s so if you said that to me I'd just figure you'd suffered enough and leave you alone. -
most unsignificant and unimmortant ship is? !!

Whichever ship the OP happens to be sailing at any given time. -
This game has a multitude of issues but credit gain ain't one of them.

Is there anyone that likes this patch?
xxNihilanxx replied to B051LjKo's topic in General Discussion
I've tried to like it, truly I have, but the game, for me, has just become boring as hell. Pretty much every game I have been in has just been two huge blobs of ships sailing around the map with the result being determined by which blob kills the other blob's stragglers the quickest. I've tried the new CVs and, in all honesty, I find them to be dull as dishwater. I have played surface ships but the gameplay is so inane now that I can't even enjoy those any more. My intention was to give it a good go, at least a week, before I formed a judgement but after just two days I have realised that I really can't be arsed to stick at it that long. All the fun has, for me at least, been sucked out of this game. It has become so boring that I think I would rather sit at home and eat my own flesh. Maybe, in time, things will sort themselves out but I really don't think the game is enjoyable any more. Such a shame. -
Yubari, the plane swatter is nerfed again?
xxNihilanxx replied to Akula971's topic in General Discussion
So you played against a bad CV that flew his planes near you without actually attacking you, not really indicative of anything. Wait a while until all CV players realise how ineffective your AA is if they actually try to torp you, then you will be singing a different song. On topic - I played one game in my Yubari post-patch and, in all honesty, it didn't feel any weaker than it did pre-patch. I was escorting a division mate in his BB and I was able to kill every plane that tried to attack him. -
Well obviously. Anyone who was ineffectual before the rework will still be ineffectual - for players like you little has changed. The rework does not prevent terrible players from being terrible at the game. For the rest of us, you know - those who actually understand the game, the rework has had a tremendous impact. Whether it persists or sorts itself out remains to be seen but don't think for a second that your ability to suck just as hard post-patch as you did pre-patch is any indication of, well, anything. (Kinda) sorry if that sounds harsh but the truth isn't always kind.

What can I say, I enjoyed screwing! Who doesn't? I'll still use a hammer as a hammer but I guess my days of screwing are over.* *A fact of life that many of us "oldies" have to come to terms with :(

If you aren't capping or spotting for your team then you aren't performing the role of a DD so you may as well not bring one. If you are staying near your fleet then you are essentially useless. Stay near your team and do what? Fire your puny guns and hope to dodge return fire? Why not do this in a cruiser that has better guns, better AA and is specifically designed for the role? Don't lecture us on how to play DDs well while you hide your stats. If you had to hide them then you obviously weren't very good at it so I would suggest to you that you should be listening to advice, not giving it.

Again, a cruiser can kick out far more effective damage than a smoked-up-dakka-DD so why not just take a cruiser? Plus it is easy as hell to torp drop a DD firing from smoke. The idea that sometimes a role changes sounds good on paper but as far as this game goes you are essentially saying that a "screwdriver can be used as a hammer" to which I reply "so why not just use a hammer which does the job better?"

To the person who approved the CV changes...
xxNihilanxx replied to idkwidlol123's topic in General Discussion
My guess is that it was "Spice" so you probably don't want it. -
So essentially play like a cruiser but without firepower. Why then take a DD instead of a cruiser? Wanna try again?
-
So how do DDs adapt, Mr HiddenStats? Do tell - we're all ears.

You're a sick man, Mr ForlornSailor, a very sick man. Away to the naughty step with you!

Haven't played a smoke ship since the patch but I am fairly sure it is just how it used to be, as in you have to be spotted to get the 20s bloom. If firing from smoke you aren't spotted so the bloom doesn't apply. If it did apply then the Huang He, Perth and Haida would effectively have no smoke at all as their "puffs" only last about 10s iirc.

Looking for logic in P.T.Barnum's World of Warships is an exercise in futility. They said they will change it back. SoonTM

Do not fall for the new Lunar lottery (the one available in the Arsenal)

Fair enough. I imagine that, after today's experience, you are that little bit closer to taking that break. -

You had to buy the bundle to work that out? Really? No wonder they keep putting crap like this into the game if people can't spot an obvious con when they see one.- 20 replies

The one change that WG made in the last few years that was universally well-received and it turns out to be a bug. Totally not the laughing stock of the gaming community!

I have to pick you up on this one point. This is a common myth that seems to get touted frequently but which I know, from experience, to be totally untrue. There are multiple counters to a Kamikaze, even a well played one. Yes the Kami is very stealthy and has quite rapid reload on its torps but that reload is both a blessing and a curse as it is quite easy to determine the approximate position of the ship from the angle its torps come from. Once the approximate position is known it is relatively easy to chase down and kill the Kami as it has little in the way of gunpower with which to stop you. If you are struggling to deal with Kamis may I suggest that you get hold of an Emile Bertin as this is particularly good at getting rid of the little b*ggers. Failing that a Shenyang will do the trick quite nicely too. This is assuming, of course, that the Kami has managed to find its way into a T5 match. If the match is T6/T7 then multiple options open up without the need for radar. The problem with the Kami is that it is quite slow so it can hide but it can't run.

^^This... ...and this^^. If you aren't prepared to sacrifice your own "glory" when the need arises then please do not play DDs. I have lost count of the number of times I have been little more than "spotting *edited* for the teammates behind me, both in divisions and solo for randoms. Teamplay wins games therefore if you want to be successful you must engage in it. Ask not what your team can do for you but instead ask what you can do for your team. It is undeniably true that the reward system, as set up by WG, rewards mostly selfish damage dealing but do we really need, so desperately, to be so reward-focussed when playing this game? Is not the enjoyment of the game and securing the win enough? True, XP is required to "progress" but what's the rush? Enjoy the journey.

To be fair to him he did go straight for the cap which makes him better than around 95%* of the Shimas I see in game. * Figure quoted pulled straight from the Association of Statistical Studies.

Aye come on WG sort it out. It's not enough to give CVs near-total immunity they have to have full immunity. What are you thinking?!?!?!

I don't know about PTSD but a game of WoWS can bring about crippling sadness. I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Battleships extinguish a single fire while being shot by an Orion. I watched whole teams fleeing a single ship in their cap until it was far too late. All these things will be repeated endlessly in time. And then they die.
-
It was a later match than the one we met in. I had a bout of insomnia so popped back on for a couple at around stupid o'clock.
-
No harm done, mate - I just watched the replay and I was as close behind you as I could possibly have been at that point in the match given our relative speeds and initial acceleration. My very first salvo fired hit the Gearing (I held off on firing at the BB that got spotted first so as to have my guns ready for you) and as it turns out I hit the enemy DD for a little over 4k, not the 6k I had initially thought. My next salvo couldn't come any sooner than 13 seconds later and that too went out at the Gearing but he disappeared as I fired and I didn't connect. True you were actually moving in your smoke but you were in the process of changing direction from backwards to forwards when the Gearing torps arrived and there was nothing you could do, I guess. Just a case of "chalk it up to experience" and move on I suppose. Anyway, this is way off topic so I suggest we put our tinfoil hats on and pore over Kubrik's photos of the fake moon landing while we try to work out what the Loch Ness Monster has done to the guns on the Missouri.
