While it would undoubtedly be better than what we currently have (at least the CV would have to rely on team-mates to spot) I can't imagine for a second that WG would sell much in the way of Premium CVs if they had done that, and, let's be honest here, generating additional income from an under-represented class was their only motive for the rework.

As I have said before, I am fairly confident that once WG feel they have milked the premium CVs for all they are worth they will introduce one of their patented "global changes" that effectively nerfs all CVs to the ground without the need to give refunds and consequently the number of CVs will return to pre-rework levels. This way they can then go back to milking the surface-ship players as ultimately we form a larger pool of wallets. I just threw up in my mouth a little. Get a room.

I fully understand your sentiment, and on the whole agree with it, however, there is a time and a place. I am NOT calling for legislation against gambling but I AM against the inclusion of gambling in a video game. There is absolutely no need for this pernicious practice. If people want to gamble let them gamble, there are bookmaker's aplenty. Where do you draw the line? Many video games are played by minors, should we also use use your argument to suggest that we place Fixed Odds Betting Terminals in school canteens? Isn't preventing children from gambling in schools also "the nanny state"? I am assuming that you understand the connection between "loot box gambling" and dopamine release? You better believe that companies like EA, Activision and WG do. If young people get used to getting their dopamine hit from gambling boxes then it is a short hop from there to them becoming hopeless gambling addicts in later life. As the step-son of a chronic gambling addict I have first-hand experience of the harm this causes. And for what benefit? The chance to get a premium ship that they could buy outright or access to a selection of tech-tree ships a few weeks early?

Nope. I have many vices (as @Bear_Necessities can attest) but gambling isn't one of them. If I want a premium ship I buy it outright rather than drop cash on the chance to get it.

No, a simple video game is not gambling, but spending money for a chance to win something you want is. Why do you want to be able to buy crates? What is it that they contain that you want?

That's a really strange comparison to make but, hey, I'll run with it... Sure, have CVs in the game but have their aircraft behave like BB/CA aircraft - have them circle your ship at a few kilometres and let them auto-attack anything that comes near. Maybe that would fix the problem. I like your thinking. I doubt very much, though, that it would be much fun for the CV player but at least it would improve the enjoyment for everyone else so probably a net gain in terms of fun.

I don't see your problem. As you have said there are plenty of opportunities to gamble in Belgium, if that's what you want to do with your time. Why should gambling be a part of video games?

The problem is not class v class it is aircraft v surface ships so yes, by all means, you can have a check box to not play against surface ships when we get the option to not play against aircraft. We KNOW what is broken, aircraft. They trump every surface or land-based vessel.

Aye, but long-term they will eventually sell all the premium CVs they are likely to sell. Or at the very least their income from Premium CVs will slow to a trickle. What then? They will somehow need to tempt us surface ship players and payers back to spending money.

@thiextar this is another one to add to your list of good ideas. Seriously, @L0V3_and_PE4CE it does seem like you are just trolling this tread with the sole intent of having it closed. I guess we should just leave this in the hands of the mods and see what they come back with.

While ordinarily I would absolutely agree with you I feel there is a huge difference. Gambling addiction is, like most other addictions, due largely to having an addictive personality. As such someone with such an issue could very well deal with it by not visiting a bookmaker's. It might even be recommended to take up another hobby, for example video gaming, to help them resist the temptation. The problem arises, as I am sure you can see, when video game companies, out of a cynical drive to increase profits (don't ever imagine there is any other reason) introduce gambling into their games. If you want a flutter go to a bookies, or the dogs or play the lottery or whatever - nobody will stop you - but gambling of this sort, in my opinion, has no place invading the video game space.

This only really applies (currently) to you. The thing is a lot of us have been here a long time and we usually discuss things in a (relatively) civil manner. Every now and again, though, we get somebody come to the forum spouting absolute nonsense and throwing their weight around with it and, consequently, they tend to get hammered for it. We are generally quite friendly but we don't suffer fools gladly. For the most part the "fool of the hour" usually "gets with the program" and quits with their nonsense but this has not proven to be the case with you. As others have said you have a history of spouting total garbage and doing so in an offensive manner whilst simultaneously "playing the victim" when people have called you out on your nonsense. You won't listen to advice or, indeed, any alternative opinion to your own. You are obnoxious and epitomise the kind of forum behaviour that many of us here are quite happy to have left behind us on other gaming fora. It doesn't help either that you put forward your nonsense with such limited intellectual capacity that you come across as the lovechild of Jade Goody and "Benny from Crossroads" (Yes I am aware I am showing my age there). I guess, in short, what I am trying to say is wind your neck in a bit and start listening to the advice of the demonstrably better players. Your mouth is moving when it should be only your ears that are active.

Personally I hope that the EU follows Belgium's example and bans them entirely. As the OP shows so clearly they are used as a means to (knowingly) prey on those poor people who have problems with impulse control. It's a despicable practice done by despicable people. If WG want a decent income they should make a decent game that is enjoyable by all and not just abuse people's vices. We are prevented from talking about weed here, for example, but WG can openly promote gambling which, I can tell you from experience, totally wrecks lives and families. I would say that they should feel ashamed of themselves but this is WG we are talking about so they would have no concept of what the word means.

Aye, and they have just announced that they are going to have to fill up the teams for Naval Battles with bots because the playerbase has shrunk so much. Combining air with naval (or ground) forces is one of those things that sounds good on paper but, in practice, is despised by all (except those who play aircraft).

Why? A DD sitting in smoke is, for the most part, all but useless. What would be the point? Sorry but suggestions like this are just spitting in the wind.
