Ive very rarely gotten any hate playing slava. 'One thing ill say about slava: Its not actually a good ship, your damage output relies entirely on your enemies playing badly and giving you broadside, you have no map control and you cant really make any agressive plays. She is one hell of a meme though, theres nothing quite like devstriking a full hp battleship from across the map. Of course i knew all this before buying her, because i actually bothered to read up about her and not blind-buy a ship. Thats not hate, that is intelligent play by teh enemy team. The slava, contrary to all other t10 battleships, has a 25 or 27mm bow(cant remember which it is) Which means that pretty much all battleship caliber guns at your tier can overmatch straight through your bow. Couple this with slow heals and some of the scariest guns at t10, and its simply good play for other people to focus fire you. As long as you are somewhat close to the opponents, you pretty much automatically become their best target. The slava is best positioned somewhat centrally far back.

If another ship can do that role better, then from a balance viewpoint, they have no role. I did state in my post that the one exception is radar cruisers, since battleships dont get radar(mostly). The best example here would be kiting cruisers (hindy, henry, venezia) vs deadeye thunderer. Thunderer is just better in every single way at that role, thus balance wise, kiting cruisers have no role. Because there are almost always cruisers on the team, and if you have a ship on your team, you better use it. Frankly i dont see how most kiting cruisers are any better than a thunderer at shooting dds, but if i have any ship on my flank, i fully expect him to do stuff, im not gonna go "nah youre a cruiser, just go retire man" Which is what i do, ive just decided not to play cruisers anymore, because battleships are just better now. Did i adapt? yes. Does that mean that invalidating an entire class is good for the game? No.

No one is claiming that cruisers cant do anything. People are however claiming that they are in almost all circumstances simply inferior to a battleship filling the same role.

Its not about them doing fine, its the fact that while they still do the same job as always, battleships now just straight out do it better, which means these cruisers dont have a role. Why would i ever pick a henry or hindenburg to kite a flank over a deadeye thunderer? Theres just no reason to.

Cruiser dont have higher effective dpm than battleships anymore, they just dont. Yeah you can play them, but theres just no reason to play them over battleships(except for some radar cruisers) Especially kiting cruisers are just straight up worse thunderers.
