I lost my game, and not to players...
thiextar replied to ASharpPencil's topic in General Discussion
But it is a hard fact that the cv is by a country mile, the ship with the biggest impact of battle outcome. -

It makes it so that each individual cv player has less impact, that is the fundamental issue that is getting fixed, i have no issues with the total cv impact in a battle, i do however have an issue with putting all that power in the hands of one player. Give me one reason why that one player should have such a massively bigger impact on the outcome of the battle than any of the other 11 players on the team. -

Literally no one is arguing that planes themselves have to much impact on the battle, its the singular player who is controling those planes that has too big of an impact, and that is what the rework will fix. Planes and carriers as a class will still have the same impact, but not the player playing said class. -

It will change things tho, because now all of that power isnt in the hands of one player, its several different players, and said players wont be able to both scout and do damage effectively, they will have to choose one or the other. Also, a single cv player will only be able to spot one small part of the map at a time, same as a dd, so saying that nothing is changing, is essentially the same as saying that nothing would change if a dd could be at three places and scout at the same time, because back in the olden days, you could do the same thing with just 3 destroyers.. Its not the fact that carriers can scout that is the problem, any class can scout, the issue is that one singular player had the power to scout the entire map while also doing a ton of damage. This change wont decrease the overall impact of carriers(much) it will just split that impact between more players, which is exactly what needs to happen. -
All those points are very true, but i would add that your lack of diversity in tanks is most likely because of those 25k battle ;)

The more i think of it, the more i realise, any potential fix for cvs would have to cut them down to one squadron, because however much you nerf their damage output, they will still be able to spot half the map, which will always result in a way too large impact. I never had any issues getting murdered by cvs, in any ship class, as there always is counter play. The issue is that a single player has such a massive impact on the outcome of the battle. The new rework will let them deal roughly the same amount of damage as before, since they will loose their insta-kill, but gain dot effects, while losing their ability to keep half the map spotted. If wargaming truly wants to remove mm limits for cvs, and treat them like any other class, i honestly dont see any other way they could have done the rework. -

I can deal perfectly fine with being targeted by a carrier, but they do currently have a waaaay to big impact on the outcome of a battle. -
Because there is no evidence for it, but rather a ton of evidence against it such as serverside statistics. Literally every time that someone says "Bad players get better dispersion", and they show some replay or whatever where a bad player got a load of epic dispersion, you check that guys stats and see that his hit ratio is in line with the server avarege etc etc. This goes for ever single accusation that has been made against matchmaking and anything similar aswell. I dont think there has ever been an example shown with a decent sample size that HASNT been in line with server averages. This whole thing is just a mix of psychology and misunderstanding of statistics. And creating skill based matchmaking would lead to a whole horde of issues that would kill the game.

"Both sides" essentially mean top 3 of winning side, or an absolute beast of a game on the losing side, so all in all, slightly better than top 3 of winning side.

Flamu vids are indeed of very good games, but all of the tips and explanation that he give you in them, are still very very releveant. Also, if you check out his stream, you will see that he plays consistently very very good. When it comes to the teams, that is just pure randomness, but you should always play as if you cant trust anyone on your team, and you will never be let down. Now when it comes to the flamu vids, your brother has it backwards, most of his videos are of when his team is absolutely terrible, and the enemy team outplays all his teamates while he does his best to still win it for the team. This is how you get both high damage and exciting games. A lot of the stuff that flamu does might at first glance seem like stars aligning or unbelievable luck, but really its just him putting himself in good positions where he can exploit his enemies whilst covering his own weaknesses. Its a product of skill, experience and situational awareness, which is why they are so incredibly good at teaching the game. Its not stars aligning when hes got several videos of every ship in the game with "stars aligning" results and a near daily upload scheme ;) -
The underlying issue here is a complete lack of understanding of basic statistics, fueled by the ignorance of a person believing that he/she is somehow immune to some very well documented physiological facts about humanity.

Op was asking for advice, not excuses as to why you are a bad player. -

Watching youtube videos are always a good way to pick up on game knowledge and such, id recommend watching flamu videos, as he likes to explain why he does what he does, and in general makes very educational yet fun to watch videos about the game. -
@HMS_BlackPud Can you post your full computer specs please? You can find these by going into dxdiag and pressing "Save all information". This is the easiest way for people here to help you, as it can cross out a couple of possible issues relating to your crashes. Also, if you get any error codes or popup windows when you crash, please screenshot them and post them here ;) (EDIT) Also, as some other people said, try to update your graphics drivers.

Ah I see. So this event goes on for months?

Please tell me thats where the modern meaning of spam comes from

Yes, the he damage itself is easy to deal, but you have missed something: The ships that are equipped with these he spamming guns dont get the armor of your battleship, most of them get no armor at all and a very exposed citadel, while you are afraid that they will light some fires on you, they are afraid of being one-shot by you. An he cruiser dont need to spend as much effort on aiming as a battleship, but they have to spend 10x the effort on positioning and maneuvering, or they simply get blapped by a battleship. Also, if you are playing a battleship, and have some fire prevention skills(as you should have), then fires really shouldnt be your main concern, actually, if you use your dcon and repair party smart, you can pretty much ignore fire damage. But im guessing that you use your damage con to extinguish the first fire yes?

You are not smarter than anyone here, your superpower is holding your hands over your ears and going nananananananana An admin jumping in here and editing some foul language doesnt mean that you are right about anything. @carrynikol Can we just close this thread already? Its entire purpose from the start was a question about hitting allies with torps, this thread isnt even remotely about that anymore, nor is anything meaningful being achieved here.

Account level also influences matchmaking. Through level 10, players in Tier I-IV matches are less likely to face highly experienced opponents. https://wiki.wargaming.net/en/Ship:Account_Level My mistake, its from tier 1-4, not 1-3. Then tell me very clearly and concisely what your theory is, as that is something you have failed to do so far.
-
Dude, this is a thing for around the 50 first games of a player... That doesnt mean taht you are right that the matchmaker punishes skilled players... this is only ever a thing in like tier 1-3. Dont twist my words And the protected matchmaking that you get for around up to 10 battles after buying a new ship is just a small quality of life thing. None of this proves your point in any way, and im pretty sure that most people on this forum has been aware of both of these things for atleast a year now.
-
1. If you have just bought a new vehicle, the matchmaker tries to always put you into top tier matches for the first couple of battle in that vehicle, this is well known and not hidden in any way, the point of this system is to not ruin the players initial impression of a new ship/give them a chance to play it stock. 2. This patent is for both wows and wot, and in wot there are certain premiums which gets preferential matchmaking, which means that they can only ever be matched vs +1 tier tanks. In return, these tanks are generally weaker than a standard tank of the same tier. 3. (EDITED) This system is for new players, as you know, people that are completely new to the game, gets protected matchmaking in the beginning of their careers. None of those qoutes specifys anything of relevence to taking player skill into account for mm and rng.
-
Tanks is a great game, as is wows. they are entirely different games tho, with completely different gameplay and skillsets required, and both have their issues.
-
Since you have obviously read it, quote me the statement in that patent that proves that wargaming tampers with the mm and rng based on player skill. I must say im very intrigued

I feel like this all the time when i watch streamers, but then i remember that my aim is no where near perfect, and i dont aim my shots perfectly every single time i fire my guns, so how can i be sure that what i feel is the correct amount of lead is actually the correct amount lead, when i know, that i dont always aim perfectly? Also it doesnt help that you are watching a stream and the "feeling" is different, causing you to misjudge lead and such more often.
-
Yes, because it stood out from all of your games where you get the result you would expect, so of course you would screenshot that, rather than the dozens of games that you didn't feel are screenshot worthy. That is literally what selective memory means, so yes, your selective memory did conjure that -_-
