  1. So the total rewards you can get from the twitch drop event is hard capped at one supercontainer and a few ironium drops, and you guys didnt think about mentioning this in the article, until after streamers have advertised falsely for a week and tons of people have put livestreams in the background for no reason at all? Also, your shenanigans with the containers is even worse, as you have only published the truth and that players can contact support to get their money back in the forums, a place where you KNOW that only a few percent of the playerbase hangs around. Meaning that the other 95% of the playerbase probably dont even know that you lied yet. If you were serious about wanting to fix this mistake, you would make a news post on the main page, and push messages to the game clients of anyone who bought one of those containers. Right now you are making a lot of undeserved money on your "mistake".
  2. spotting is one of the biggest issues with the current CV implementation, and I was just thinking a bit and had an idea: Make spotting range by air on all ships equal to or less than their aa range, this way carriers can't spot everything for their team without paying for it. but at the same time, nothing changes in their striking power, as long as they know roughly where the ship is, they can strike it same as before, they just can't keep it spotted for their team without taking losses. Another side effect would be that ships that are alone, but unspotted might be harder for carriers to kill, as the carrier would have to guess what their initial attack angle should be. Just had this idea and thought I would share it and see what you guys think about it, I think it really could solve both the spotting issues and to some extent, the blob meta.

It would be fun to have such a button just for a few days, and then see the statistics of how many people pressed what

    Azuma coming in 0.8.2

Just read the patch notes and it appears that azuma is finalized and coming in 0.8.2. On another note, i know that flamus review is outdated now, does anyone have a good up-to-date review they could link here?

    Possible cv spotting idea

It does. It stops them from spotting anything without paying for it. The only thing it doesn't fix is dds, which would require another solution

    Possible cv spotting idea

I mean my proposal isn't a fixall end-all, just a start. I also really liked the attack-speed/cruise-speed suggestion made here. Either spotting or damage dealing needs to be seriously tuned down on carriers, personally I'd prefer to tune down spotting.

    Possible cv spotting idea

That byproduct spotting is more powerful than a dd that dedicates himself 100% to spotting and does nothing else. That is a very powerful byproduct... Also you can't spot EVERY ship in a CV, but you can spot ANY ship, which is precisely what is broken.

    Possible cv spotting idea

The interaction and role of the carrier as a whole would change away from spotting. Being able to easily spot entire teams is a problem when you can swap flanks as many times as you want in a game, while all other ships are mostly limited with only being able to change flanks once per game. If you want to balance CV's and keep their current spotting intact, you would have to take away all their damage, because their spotting and map presence is sooo powerful in winning games. If you want to keep damage intact in CV's, then spotting has to change.

    Possible cv spotting idea

No one is saying anything about halfing anything, make spotting range exactly the same as aa range, which means the CV can't keep the minotaur spotted for free, but it can spot it for the duration of an attack run. Anyhow, the entire point of this change is to make carriers attack targets that their team is already spotting, in those circumstances, nothing has changed.

    Twitch Drops

Cmon guys, I'm all for hatin on wargaming stupidness, but this is obviously not some intentional conspiracy of theirs. Somethings probably gone wrong, and if that's the case, I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped 1 or 2 supercontainers on everyone who's linked to twitch.
  13. thiextar

    Possible cv spotting idea

Mino spotting range would be equal to its maximum aa range, so he wouldnt be able to bait you in. Anyways, the entire point of such a change would be to make carriers dependent on team spotting, so the point is that you shouldn't be able to both scout and kill targets completely by yourself, not easily anyways.

When exactly should I launch them in order to make them unavoidable? Asking for a friend
  15. thiextar

Why this CV rework is FAIL

In anything other than clan battles and 3-man divs, blobbing up is the only solution. Covering each other as small groups requires waaay more teamwork and planning than ever happens in random or ranked. This why the rework is so bad, there's only one gamemode that has the amount of teamwork necessary to avoid the blob meta, and even there we will get less active play when the CV's hit.
  16. thiextar

    Possible cv spotting idea

Yes I know that, but maybe that was a mistake? Maybe that is exactly what makes them to independent and therefore too influencial on the battle?
  17. thiextar

Why this CV rework is FAIL

That's all a bunch of nonsense tho. 1. I can and have adapted to the CV rework. That doesn't mean that it is good for the meta tho. 2. The best way to deal with carriers is in most cases not aa skills at all, because they are really lackluster and won't stop the CV dropping you. Dot skills such as fp and bos actually helps more than aa skills in most cases, and they also help against other stuff. 3. You could spec your entire ship towards plane protection, but that would be inefficient vs everything else, and you end up with an overall less efficient ship, even in carrier matches. 4. The only real solution is to blob up, which is why it's bad for the meta, it forces even more passive play than what was already meta.
  18. thiextar

    Fighters

Yeah but +1 planes isnt worth it in my mind, because fighters usually scare away carrier players, which means that in my experience they rarely actually kill any planes, they just deter them from attacking
  19. thiextar

    Fighters

Oh, quick question btw, is the catapult fighter skill worth taking? If i have 3 planes normally, and take it, do i get a total of 4 planes(+1 plane) or 6 planes?(+1 squad)
  20. thiextar

    Fighters

The fighter is more of a deterrent than anything else, they usually dont get a lot of kills, because carriers turn around when they see them. Looking at a results screen is irrelevant in regards to any comments on balance, you dont know what the situation was, but id guess a lower tier cv that didnt dodge flak and had a hard-on for him. Anyways, irrelevant.

WTF Yamato! Help me with this ship please!

The yamato is a very powerful ship, its not underpowered at all, just less forgiving than other bbs. I do agree tho that it is stupid that all the other battleships in this game dont have proper citadels, its just unnecessary idiot proofing that leads to worse gameplay for all battleships. Afaik all battleships should have big over-water citadels, all it does is encourage intelligent play and punish mistakes, it wouldnt actually be a nerf to battleships, as they would just citadel each other more, most cruisers cant pen their citadel armor anyways so its a win win. Hiding citadels is just wargaming stupidly monkey-proofing their game.
  22. thiextar

Please keep carriers out of ranked

The nerfs are needed to make the class atleast vaguely balanced, you cant call a ship overnerfed just because it has been nerfed many times, you can only call it overnerfed if it is underpowered in its current iteration, anything that happened before that is irrelevant. I agree tho that the cv rework is a failure, there is no way to make carriers enjoyable for the other three classes in the game and for the carrier player in the current concept.

    Tons of questions

Ill try to answer your questions, but it wont be an rnat level quality answer, because he is just insanely good at this, and i dont feel like writing an essay 17. Its definitely worth using sector reinforcement, as it will give you 25% more continuous dps if used correctly. Now as to how you want to use it: If you just increase the strenght on one side of the ship, it wont do any good, since the planes will take more damage on the way in, and less damage on the way out, so the overall dps evens out, so what you want to do is to always keep the aa reinforced where the planes are. But there is a delay in switching sectors(between 5-12 seconds based on which class of ship you are using), you only get improved dps on the side that you switched to after this delay. This means that you want to first keep the aa reinforced on the side where you expect enemy planes to come from, then when you see the planes coming in, you want to switch sector so that the delay runs out just as the planes fly over your head. Example: You are in your sharnyhorst with 12 seconds shift delay, theres a bomber squad coming at you from your right side, so you have the aa reinforced on the right side to begin with, when the planes are 12 seconds away from your ship, you swap sector to the opposite side, so that the sector switches just as the planes fly over your head, repeat this until the squad is dead. If you do have the full 12 seconds shift delay, and the planes attack you from both sides very fast, it can be a good idea to just have the aa focused as the planes are coming in, and then resetting it to 100/100 after the planes first attack run, as it can be very difficult to track the squadron with 12 seconds shift time. 18. Its pretty much impossible to fully protect yourself against planes, even if you are in a full aa-specced minotour(a big reason to why carriers are seen so toxic at the moment), but there are some things that you can do to mitigate their damage a bit. Best aa skills: Currently the best aa skill is Manual aa(4pt), and just behind it is bft(3pt). Never take aft(4pt) for the purpose of improving your aa, it actually doesnt do anything to aa in its current state, because it increases flak damage by 20%, but flak always either one-shot or two-shot planes anyways, so any small buff to flak is pointless, as its completely black and white. What skills to actually take: If your ship doesnt have exceptional aa to begin with, i find it pointless to take aa skills, they wont stop carriers from dropping you, they will only cost precious skill points that could be used for something else. If you want to protect a battleships with poor aa vs carriers, its a much better idea to take something like fire prevention(4pt) and basics of survivability(3pt) As these skills will make your ship overall more tanky, and mitigate the fires and floodings that carriers will harass you with. If you are using a battleship with good secondaries(Such as the bismarck, or massachusets) A secondary build can increase your anti-air to some extent(Since they usually contain bft + aft). At the end of the day, the only real way to protect yourself against carriers is to stick to your teammates and form a blob(Another reason why carriers are a toxic topic atm) 19. A wreck will protect you against anything and everything for as long as it floats, although wrecks are generally not tall enough to hide behind from bullets, but they can be very effective against torpedoes. I dont know exactly for how long a wreck stays afloat, but you can usually judge by looking at the sinking animation 20. Cant help you much here, as ive never played the german battleships, especially since they are the only line of pure brawler battleships in the game currently. Maybe the russian battleships when they come out, they are supposed to be very strong brawlers aswell. 21. You can always look for another clan that more actively plays divs/lower tiers. Other than that i would recommend joining some world of warships related discord channel, such as flamus discord. Or you could make a post here on the forum titled something like "Looking for mates to div with"

Please keep carriers out of ranked

Its not damage farming, its creating crossfire, and it wins games. Also it's a hell of a lot more active than bobbing up and duking it out from max range. Also he likes to push whenever possible, which carriers also prevent. They just prevent any sort of active play, how is that possibly good for the meta?
  25. thiextar

Please keep carriers out of ranked

Source? Cause ive seen a lot of very good players that hates carriers, flamu comes to mind as the best player that hates carriers. There are a few different reasons, but the biggest one is that carriers create a worse meta than no carriers. But you dont even need ot hate carriers to not want them in this season of ranked. Maybe carriers will be balanced and well implemented in a year, but they just arent now, and they wont be in time for this ranked season, its just way too early to bring carriers to any sort of competative mode. Maybe some day, but not yet for a long time. Its not a matter of "adapting", i can and have adapted to carriers, it doesnt mean that i believe they are good for the meta tho.
