face it, t8+ battleships need nerfs.

I don't find BB play as interesting as cruisers, but from a collectors point of view i ground out a Bismark. Whilst the Gneisenau was quite agile, the Bismark is far from agile. The rudder shift is something like 16 or 18 seconds? and whist she isnt as slow ship, it certainly takes ages to accelerate. Torpedo dodging isnt easy thats for sure. I agree though that it should have an AA nerf. -
As much as i don't like having to rely on it, i will keep my smoke thank you. i have the choice to swap it out for a spotter, or a fighter, but i don't. If i bight off more than i can chew, i can turn, pop smoke and get the hell out. with smoke i have the option to be in the open, and deal a healthy chunk of damage. if you take away RN smoke, you will have to spend the whole battle behind something solid.

I don't have any figures to back this statement up, but i assume that more people play at weekends? With a higher server population, i assume the average player's WR would go down? I have not looked at my stats that in depth to see if my WR is better during the week or at the weekend. With this being a team game, there are a external influences on my WR that are beyond my control, as well as RNG effecting dispersion and detonations ect. I would expect my win rate to be 50% with peaks and troughs when i have a bad day, or a good day.

If you buy a ship with doubloons in game, then no, it will not come with a port slot. If you buy the ship from the premium store, it will include the port slot

So, what is your actual suggestion here? You want the match maker to separate players who play just at weekends from players who play during the week? I'm confused as to what is the actual issue here? If you have evidence to suggest your WR decreases at the weekend, and you want your WR to stay stable, why do you play at weekends?

PVE or PVP? The reason i ask is that im an ok cruiser captain, and i could only sink multiple ships playing the Emerald on Co-Op whilst trying to work off a Pink from an Aoba coming between my torps and a close range Kongo, I found in Random battles people see the Emerald as a XP Pinata!

I have no issue with any player who uses range to their advantage, as long as they are hitting the target and doing damage. I use my Roon that way, because i can reliably do an above average amount of damage that way. That ship is good at doing that. The Roon is a sniper Staying back and trying to do that in a ship with poor accuracy and a low rate of fire inst being very efficient. Nor is chasing ships all the way around the map border when there are objectives to capture in the centre of the map. There are times when fire discipline is required to stay alive, and there are times when you just have to push and take some damage to get the game won. -
I must admit to being slightly at a loss to understand exactly what your issue is with AP only RN and the KM having HE? The AP is hard work at lower tiers on the RN due to a lack of guns on these ships. With the Leander and Fiji you gain a noticeable fire power increase. The AP works well on these ships, the only time i struggle to do reliable damage is on the armoured flight deck of a CV at long range. with BBs you just pour the lead into the superstructure. Why do you want German HE removed? i don't really want to shoot DDs with a large over penetrating AP round when my RoF isn't that great.

To clarify my perceived contradiction: I'm am happy with the line of RN CLs as a whole. I feel that the Leander and the Fiji make the Emerald worth the pain. The Emerald was an uncomfortable grind, and i believe most people would welcome a buff to the ship. To me, its now an Irrelevance as i am beyond that ship Unfortunately, i cannot always keep enemies at max range in a German cruiser, so i would prefer HE to remain, its also nice to spam from 20km on my Roon to BBQ Yamoto's.

I play both lines, and i am happy with things as they are. The Leander is the real turning point in the line of RN CLs. I think if Tiers 1-5 had HE that would be welcome, The Emerald is just so god dam awful it needs some help. I find i do 10-15k average damage more on the Fiji with magic AP than my more HE spam approach with the Belfast. The KM CAs need HE on mid range angled targets, AP just doesn't work unless its point blank range or plunging fire. I would rather they just left well alone, or gave the lower half the RN line HE.

I don't play CVs and i think they need a buff. There should really be a CV in every game. For the sake of game balance there needs to be a competitive CV on every team. I suck in DDs, Its annoying when a CV takes an interest in my DDs well being, but i think it adds an extra level to the challenge.

As with replies above, the ship classification is based off of the US Navy designations. Most people on this forum will refer to in game ships in the following way DD = Destroyer CL = Light Cruiser - Guns up to 6" or 150mm CA = Heavy Cruiser (Historically referred to as Cruiser Armoured) in game terms though, Guns of 8" / 200mm calibre BB = Battleship CV = Aircraft Carrier / Carrier Vessel

If this abundance of port slots is "working as intended" why wasn't it communicated before the missions? i wouldn't have stocked up on slots if i had know i would be sat on half a dozen from this mission? The credits would be much more usefull

German DD line and Graf Spee coming?

I have nothing against the German DDs, but i don't think i will get around to playing then any time soon. I think i will crack on with the RN CLs and have just finished the Gneisenau, so now have a Bismark to upgrade. Obviously if they look good on release i will have a go. The Graf Spee will depend entirely on how much they charge for that £15 ship. -

I think the problem isn't so much much that BB players are bad. i think we are finding now that a year into release, a lot of the below average players are now in higher tier games. We have had quite a few events with 3x XP and the like, meaning there are more people populating the higher tiers. Not so long ago, you instantly knew the guy in the Derpitz was a noob. now, its quite hard to instantly spot them in the team line up. Just last night i was raining AP down on a Roon's broadside in my Eugen. he didn't use the rudder once, completely oblivious to me and the damage he was taking, because of his tunnel vision target focus. It is quite possible if you fail hard enough you can still grind a Yamoto -

The Trashcan was the 1st T8 DD i got. It was a massive let down compared to the fun i had in the Kiev. It took the Benson to restore my faith in T8 DDs when i finally got past the Mahan! I struggle to get motivated to play the Tashkent. I wish i had saved myself the time and effort and stopped at the Kiev. That's just me though, i'm sure there are plenty of better DD captains that can get a lot more out of the Tashkent than i can. -

I think that the hard counter to BBs is torpedoes. With decent AA, and a good secondary set up, torpedoing anything but the most oblivious BB captain is hard work, especially if they are sitting on the map boarder for 3/4s of the game. There needs to be an encouragement to actually engage the enemy in the 10-15k range, and to press for capture points. Either CVs need to made more relevant as they were pre nerf, or BBs need a secondary range nerf, or large dispersion penalties at mid to long range. Maybe its time for BBs to lose the repair party? Regarding smoke, i feel we need less of it not more, as most people who pay attention will give smoke a wide berth, and torpedo spam it. Regarding German BBs in particular, there is nothing that I can see that they do badly. AA should be turned down on all BBs not just the Germans. that would make cruisers a relevance again.

In general, I feel cruisers are fine as they are, but the game has changed around them. I think there just needs to be a decent reason to play cruisers again. They are my favourite class in game, because you can be effective against everyone if you play well. It seems that bow on BBs reversing are a thing now, with fewer DDs and even fewer high tier CVs to dissuade them from doing it. Most BBs have decent enough AA without the need for an escort, with less planes in the air at the moment. US and Russian DDs are great as a IJN DD hunter, so i feel playing a CA/CL is a rather unrewarding experience. I have a Roon, but am no where near the Hindenburg. I have enough XP on the NO but i most certainly am not wasting credits on a Balitmore as it is a massive waste of time to go for it or a DM. I have no interest in the Russian line, so i will hack on with the RN and see how much fun the Fiji is tonight when i unlock it. -

If you do this, the game will become world of battleships. Just like world of tanks became world of heavy tanks after the light tank nerfs. DDs rely on stealth to survive any length of time. The number of ships that can effectively stealth fire is already quite low. If the DD is in smoke, then stick with a radar or good hydro cruiser. If not, just charge him. I was chased by a Blyskawica in my Gneisenau. i got bored of being stealth fired, so i turned on him and blew him away with HE. DDs wont face you if fight on your terms -
To clarify my position here, what i am struggling with is the outrage because they are giving away premium ship when they actually aren't. what they are offering as a reward is a ship that looks like an Atago without any additional benefits that the premium gets. I don't see it as any different to Tirpitz/Bismark, Texas/New York, Marblehead/Omaha or any other premium they offer. I don't trust WG, and i never had. You can trace this back to WoT. When tanks are removed or re-tiered they used to be given free, but that soon changed. look at the FV4202 for example. there was outrage at having to earn it back. the outrage didn't change a thing, and it was still a marathon mission to earn it back, or just buy it outright.
