    Implementation of RDF

I really cant see stealth builds going away. With WG throwing 10 point captains at every one, and CE being bumped down to a 10 point skill even more cruisers will be running stealth. It depends on how you captain your cruiser on how RPF effects you. If you have pushed up too far, or got yourself out of position you will be punished harder. That is the nature of being a cruiser in the passive meta at the moment. I assume the intention of RPF is to counter stealth build sniping and to promote a more aggressive game. weather it will work or not remains to be seen.

    Implementation of RDF

I may be looking at this the complete wrong way round, but with the advent of a stealth build on a 10 point captain now, this is surly the counter to that? And besides, i don't understand how it will end IJN DDs. there is no change to IJN DDs camo or spotting mechanics that i am aware of. So they are just as invisible as they ever were. Just because there is a way of sometimes knowing which direction they are, doesn't mean that's where the torps are coming from. nor can you tell accurately which way the ship is heading. If anything, surly this will hit US DDs harder, like the Benson which can have a sub 7k detection range, and relies on its guns more than its torps?

Free Graf Spee was mistake. WG take it back.

An AGS will not do well against anything that is fast moving and close. It was designed to counter cruisers, which it is good at with a decent alpha potential. unfortunately she has to expose a lot of broadside to get all 6 11" guns to bear, and the rate of fire isn't anything to get excited about.

Free Graf Spee was mistake. WG take it back.

Is my history incorrect in thinking the AGS was designed to out gun other cruisers? She was designed to outrun things she couldn't out gun, and out gun things she couldn't out run?

I'm confused. What is your problem with the AGS? So the ship i just spent 3 weeks waiting to earn, you think i am not entitled to? The AGS fired 11" AP at you, and you were not angled against him? In 4-6 weeks time just how many AGS's do you expect to find in a random battle? It will be like the ARP ships, an idle curiosity that you will see maybe once every 3 or 4 games soon enough.

    Implementation of RDF

I am predominantly a cruiser captain. so i would take the skill if it becomes available. I am unsure at just how "game breaking" it will be until it goes live. I can see concealment builds becoming more common with the patch, so i assume this is a counter to that. But just because you know what direction the reds are, doesn't mean you will see them. I have a vague idea where i can expect DDs to come from, as i do play them myself occasionally. It will hopefully speed up the end game when there is only a cv hiding in the corner, or a DD kiting the team round the map. Of course it may have the opposite effect in domination, when ships take RPF as a skill that don't need it, and then spend the whole game ignoring the caps and chasing DDs that they are not quick enough to catch round the map instead of capturing objectives. I'm open minded to it at the moment, and willing to try it out.

    Player response about RDF

I Haven't tried the skill, so i don't know. how i will like or dislike RPF. I am willing to try it out. I don't see why people are down on the RN CLs and the anti DD abilities. I have a certain degree of success in them. I haven't had an issue with dealing with DDs in either my Fiji or Edinburgh. The rate of fire is good, the shell arcs are good inside the detection radius of most DDs of this matchmaking spread. Hydro gives the upper hand in torpedo avoidance, and i play the RN CLs like any other ship. Bow on to the DD and use my front 2 turrets. It gets trickier when you get double teamed, but why should i win against a 2 on 1? What's the worst than can happen? 0.6.0 goes live. 0.6.0 is deemed a disaster. 0.6.1 returns everything to normal again.

    Player response about RDF

I would like to answer your poll, but i can't. I would like to take RDF on my CLs and DDs and continue playing the game please.

RN Smoke: Bugged or just strange mechanic?!

I think the Perth mechanic would work well too. At lease that way we would be able to tell if we are going too fast for our smoke or not. Would still be able to shoot into the middle of smoke for blind fire. but at least it would be smoke to rely upon. I have never noticed the bug in my Fiji or Edinburgh. Maybe i have been lucky, or maybe i just play over cautious as i usually wait till i am nearly stationary to pop smoke.

Planes Without Names, Only Tier Info :(

I liked having the names of the planes. I miss it, and would like to see them back I know they don't add anything to the game play, but i don't see why they cant be there as a part of the display options.

    Am I the [edited] here?

Whilst i admit to feeling frustrated when i have engaged and done 7/8 the damage over a couple of salvoes on a ship only for someone else to come along and pop them off with a shot, i have never taken to chat to berate that player. I swear out loud, then move on. It works both ways. i am sure i have ninja'd a kill or two without realising that the low health ship that is now just in gun range had been engaged for some time by someone else who would have liked that kill. i am suffering at the moment from high damage, no kills, its frustrating from a stats point of view, but when i look at the credit / XP gains i don't mind so much. It all depends on the intention of the player. withholding shots to secure a kill is a different attitude to just trying to rack up the damage total and taking enemy guns out of the fight.

What is the reason to play American crusers ?

In regards to the New Orleans, She was a great AA and DD hunter in the early days of the game. She is far more situational now. If you want to persist with the NO, i would recommend a concealment build, and exercise caution and good fire discipline and not shoot the first thing you see. Her AP is great against other cruisers. I just feel she needs a slight RoF buff to keep pace with all the new DDs since release. I still have her in my port, but the German cruisers caught my eye, and now i'm grinding the RN CLs so she has been gathering dust for a while now.

    Invisifiring - A simple solution.

My best invisi firing DD is my Sims and my Besnon. Im an average player, and i try to play DDs as smartly as i can. My sims is best at invisi firing as i have a 15 point captain shared between the two ships. My sims has a 28% hit rate, and my benson has a 37% hit rate. Please define

    Invisifiring - A simple solution.

I am really struggling to get my head around this, and why it is dragging on so much. I play DDs, CAs CLs and BBs. Yes i have been killed by invisi fire once or twice. It didn't bother me in the slightest. I could have moved further away, or i could have moved closer. I blamed myself for being in that situation, not the other guy who took full advantage of the situation. I really don't like this "in real life, and "historical accuracy" being chucked around all the time. This is a WG product. historical accuracy isn't a high consideration when creating balance. I don't want to play a naval simulator where my ship is pitching around on the sea, the target is over the horizon and i would be lucky to hit 1 in 10 shots with a huge reload time. i am really not interested in that at all. I don't want my navy combat to last 3 or 4 hours without a decisive outcome! I like this 20 minute intensive combat. Am i alone in being happy that the game isn't like real life? I tried Warthunder, and didn't really enjoy being one shotted all the time, so i went back to world of tanks. Spotting mechanics are a cornerstone of WG products. Apart from flight sims i cannot think of any game that realistically portrays distance correctly. In most games, everything is compressed to fit so you don't spend most of the game just trying to get somewhere to then be one shotted without even knowing the other guy was there. I am very happy to be corrected, but i am highly doubtful that the game mechanics are going to change and invisi fire to be removed. All i can say is if you don't like the idea of the mechanics of spotting distances, i suggest you don't play a WG title!

    Invisifiring - A simple solution.

I have an idea to counter invisifire. move closer.
  16. I think I would stay even if it was free. The time difference wouldn't suit me. Whilst I agree the lack of communication regarding EU is frustrating, I don't ever have any technical issues with the game itself. And that means more to me than getting some free stuff. I enjoy the challenging game play on EU.

    Another question if I may?

You will need to start each nation from tier 1. If you are enjoying the British cruisers, stick with them, as at higher tiers they are serious fun. They are fragile though, so care will need to be taken i would suggest trying several different cruiser lines up to tier 5 to see which one has the right fit for your play style. as they all play slightly differently. Up to tier 5 shouldn't bankrupt you in credits, and the XP requirements are not too taxing.

    About Cruisers

As a cruiser captain, my advice is to exercise some fire discipline and don't go shooting the first thing you can see. Most higher tier cruiser captains, myself included, value concealment modules and captain skills. If you can learn when to disengage, and when the best times to start shooting, and to stop shooting, you will do well in cruisers. It is best practice to avoid one on ones where possible if you do not have superior health or a fire power advantage. It is very easy to keep blazing away with the guns when you could stop shooting, regain some concealment and get yourself into a better position to pick a better fight. Try to avoid being broadside to anyone, as you are easily damaged this way. Cruisers are a great class to play. you have potential to kill every class in the game, and are very manoeuvrable. Use your speed and fire power to position yourself well, and you will have lots of fun i am sure. Just be aware of what is happening around you.

    Totally new player

Glad to see the game is attracting new players who take the time to come to the forums to learn! As others have said, take your time, and don't rush through the lines.Tiers 4, 5 and 6 should be where you should concentrate your efforts. These tiers will help you learn the game, and should be enjoyable, and profitable at the same time. Try several nations if you can, as they all play differently, and you may find that one nation suits your natural play style better than another. If i had to give you 1 single piece of advice, don't pick fair fights! Disengage if you need to, and try and focus your fire on a distracted enemy, or one who is sailing broadside to you. Best of luck with the game, i hope you find a line that suits you well.

Emerald tier5 cruiser worser then Kirov

I found the Emerald difficult to extract its full potential, and found myself only getting the big damage games if i found something the other side of an island to torp. It was tough, i struggled, i even dipped into Co-Op to avoid being the XP pinata when these ships were new and every one was farming damage with anything flying a White Ensign. Long story short, Emerald = Pain, Leander = Worth it, Fiji = Totally worth it, most fun i have had in a cruiser since CBT I found the grind a pain, but if you stick with it, you will really appreciate what comes after. In a way, I'm glad i stuck it out, and didn't free XP it, it felt good to earn the Leander and Fiji.

    newb with questions

You can of course fire each turret individually, so you can fire a ranging shot with your first turret and make adjustments, or you can spread your over an area along your targets predicted course if you aren't feeling too confident about a first time hit. RNG will always take away from your accuracy any way
  22. I cant honestly say that i enjoyed the RN CL grind all the way, the true turning point for me and my style of play was the Leander at T6. I didn't feel like the Emerald had enough fire power for me, I felt too reliant on torps for high damage games, which made it feel too situational for me. The Leander made it all worthwhile though, and the Fiji is as much fun as I've ever had in a mid tier cruiser. it is just a riot of unadulterated damage if you play well and don't do anything stupid. To me the Fiji feels like a French autoloader in WoT. if you can stay out of trouble and last the length of the match, its a complete assassin at the end of the game to CAs and BBs that have burnt their heals. I am on the cusp of the Edinburgh but i have decided to take a break for a while, and play a bit of Civ 6, as i feel i have burnt out a bit on WoWs, grinding the KM CAs to T9, the KM BBs to Tier 8 and the RN to T7 all back to back without a break! I am sure you will enjoy the RN line if you give it some time, and respect the strengths and weaknesses. The mid tiers really are fun
  23. i can only comment on the Warspite, the Tirpitz and the Arkansas Beta as they are the only prem BBs that i have I like the Warspite, but you need to plan your actions quite a long way in advance, as the turret rotation make a glacier look rapid. other than that its a good ship if you are happy for it to come around on sale again I only recently have joined the Tirpitz brigade, as i managed to pick up one cheap, and it has good credit earning potential, and i can share its captain with the Bismark. I am at the moment still coming to grips with it and i am certainly not getting the best of it yet. Other choices would be the USS Texas or the USS Arizona. These both seem well liked by their owners. i stopped the US BB line at the New York, as the slow speed of these ships didn't inspire me to follow the line any higher. Regarding the RU DDs, i enjoyed the line up to the Kiev, but i am struggling to like the Tashkent at tier 8 as i find it in every way more unforgiving than the Kiev. Regarding the IJN ships, the Atago would be the way to go if you wanted a premium with earning potential. I don't have first hand experience with it, but i have faced many. My one observation of it would be make the most of its good concealment, I have no problem finding its large, above the waterline citadel. Its quite a stealthy ship, so i would recommend good fire discipline, so you don't expose yourself to too much damage. You could train your cruiser and BB captains in her and earn some credits in the process.
  24. Regarding cruisers, The Zao is still relevant, A disclaimer though, i don't play Japanese CAs, but there are still plenty of them about, so i see it as relevant. If you want a cruiser, take your pick based on your preferred play style. The US have strong AA, Ammunition wise, acceptable HE and a hard hitting but slow AP round The IJN have good Torps, and good HE The Germans have great AP, but poor HE ammunition The Russians seem to be good all rounders but lack protection and dont turn very well The Royal Navy have no armour, great rates of fire, and no HE, but have a buffed AP round which is devastating to softer targets. The Line only gets good at tier 6 and 7 though. DD wise, Russian DDs have great guns, but slow turret rotation, so need to stay at arms length to be effective. The best knife fighting DDs are still the US, the Benson is a beast with the concealment mod, with a 6km detection range. German BBs have a 25 second reload on the tier 7s and 8s. I don't have it, but the Scharnhorst is a popular premium, with a decent rate of fire, but only has 11" guns, so more of a cruiser killer than a battleship brawler. The Atago is also a very popular premium, handy to have if you were thinking of going down the IJN cruiser line

    Remove CVs from the game!

I don't play CVs at all, i tired them in CB, and realised they weren't for me. When and if i play my NO, i love to see a CV in the team line up, as it means some extra XP and credits. If I'm not in a NO, and i see a CV in the line up i am happy that at least there is less likelihood of boarder hugging or bow on reversing BBs. So despite not being a CV captain, i am not too blind to see the use they have for balancing the game.
