According to my maths on detonations, i have 24 in 2255 matches, so that's 1 in every 94 matches on average rounding up. As i am above average for dets, does that mean i'm less likely to die in a car accident? in all seriousness though,I cant see dets going away in this game, as it is a fact of navel warfare. As frustrating as it is to be detonated from 98% health near the beginning of a match, its best to either take a break or laugh it off and carry on. I think there may be more pressing issues with the game than detonations at the moment. If all i had to worry about was dets, i would be grateful!- 65 replies

Most of the flags i have collected i don't find particularly attractive, so i generally only fly my CBT flag on most ships. i fly the Wilhelmshaven flag on my German ships, as it seems like the right thing to do!

After the first week of try harding and still not getting enough coins with the amount of time i had to play, i started playing civ 6 instead. i am much happier now! -
If you want to play cruisers, the IJN would probably be your best starting point, The are comfortable to play without having too many drawbacks. You have a decent HE shell, The AP can hurt when used correctly. Concealment is ok if you pay attention to your surroundings. You also have torpedoes as well. All you need to remember is to make your citadel hard to hit, as it is usually above the waterline

I have both a Belfast and a Fiji. I have played the Fiji exclusively as i prefer the guns on the Fiji. i don't have IFHE on my Belfast and i don't enjoy HE spam too much. I find the Belfast's guns lazy, i simply just do more damage with RN super AP. The lack of a heal means i feel uncomfortable fighting outside my smoke. With my Fiji i feel i can play more aggressively. i can actively chase enemy Myokos and Yorkes and i never struggle to damage BBs. I feel stronger over the whole length of the game in the Fiji. In the Belfast, i feel vulnerable.

The solution to fail divisions is to not press the battle button if you don't like the thought of being up tiered. people need to be responsible for their actions. I completely fail to see an issue with the matchmaker as it stands. I am happy with the queue times and the tier spread. How many games do we actually see fail divisions anyway? the +/- 1 tier spread works fine compared to how it used to be.

Only your notifications in the bottom right hand corner of port screen, But that is refreshed every time you log in I assume your doubloons have been spent on premium consumables. you can click on a drop down on your mounted consumables to buy with credits instead of doubloons

There is no issue with the matchmaker. The issue is with players who do understand how it works. I doubt players would deliberately fail division, i am sure it is more likely these fail divisions do not realise the negative impact they have on the game. back to the OP. The matchmaker would be deliberately abused if it was weighted to the lowest tier, i can promise you that. It would be abused by experienced players with high tier captains who 3 man division with 2 high tier ships and a 1 tier lower stealthy DD who would then completely dominate the game and stat pad. It would be no fun to be on the end of that i can assure you. Just be careful what you wish for

Yes, ship upgrades are discounted. "Main Armaments Modification 1" is an upgrade. A Fuso is a new ship, not an upgrade

Just a question, is the flooding chance relevant? because each ship has its own torpedo reduction percentage, how accurate would the port rating be?

I agree in principle. Tier 5 is a little bizarre at times. But at the beginning of WW2 there were a lot of WW1 era ships with plenty of service life left in them. Unfortunately what would be considered cutting edge technology in the 1920s was already obsolete by the mid 30s. Regarding the US line, there will be a split in the future, separating CLs from the CAs, so a rebalance is on the cards anyway.

I think my first pick will be Fiji, as i seem to average a higher damage output than with my Belfast. Probably mostly down to my Belfast not having a dedicated captain though. I think having the heal will benefit me in the late game with Fiji. I only have my pre order Sims if i fancy a DD game. -
There have been several patches which have buffed armour layouts of various ships if you have been out of the game for a while. This may be why you feel short changed by some of your penetrating hits. If you are finding BBs tedious, why don't you jump into CAs? There are some tanky CAs out there that really reward aggressive play. Its not all about HE spam. the German and US CAs have a decent AP round which is certainly satisfying when you know how to use it. or if you want to live dangerously, there is always the RN CLs!

despite being on the same course and speed, you only need to take into consideration the travel time of the shot to the target. If the target is far way, you need to lead the target only by the travel time of the shot.

Yes, i am satisfied with the matchmaker. what i am unsatisfied with is fail divisions which cant be bothered to agree on which tier they want to play.

The AP is more forgiving on RN CLs as it has less tendency to bounce than other nations. But you can still get bounces when trying to deal with an angled target. My best advice when fighting with a RN CL is to look for targets of opportunity. Rather than focus on BBs, look for cruisers and DDs to shoot at instead. only engage a BB when you don't have a higher priority target to concentrate on. At medium ranges the RN AP can accumulate high damage totals really quickly on BB superstructure.

well instead of trying to change the physics of the game, or the mechanics, why don't WG just make the repair costs a lot higher for BBs? that way, the only way to offset what will be a financial loss is to give out higher rewards for capping and the potential damage taken? That way, the only way a BB can turn a profit is to tank damage, and capture bases? -
I agree Marv, but is it the progression that is forcing people into PVP?

I wonder if the XP and credit rewards should be higher in co-op. With faster progression in that game mode, i wonder if new players are feeling pressured into PvP when they are not comfortable in this mode?

You cannot restrict progression in a FTP game. The whole concept is to pay to progress. If you restrict progression you loose sales of premium time and doubloons for free XP conversion, after a while you end up with no more money to pay the devs and the game stagnates. what is lacking in the game at the moment is the balance between ship classes.

I agree that a good CV can turn a game around. and that's exactly why we need more great CV captains as the balancing factor

Is a good BB captain vs a bad BB captain game breaking? Is a good DD captain vs a bad DD captain game breaking? Is a good CA captain vs a bad CA captain game breaking? Why do BBs camp? probably because they feel they don't need to push, as the DD will cap. Most BBs these days don't need CAs for AA cover. so they cruise around at the rear of the fight, as there is nothing to make them move closer.
