Im getting very good results in low tier cruisers setting all those fat BBs on fire. And really enjoying it That's why I thought about getting Atlanta and do the same to higher tier BBs. I already have Yubari/Murmansk and want to get either Atago or Atlanta, but still can't decide which one.

Wasn't aware of this... what happened to poor Atlanta? Is it still a good ship? It still should be able to set everything ablaze? Is it a better investment than Atago?

yes and you can either use defensive fire, or that sonar thingy.

WG implemented the border this way, therefore it is not cheating, but a feature. If WG believes that it is harmful for gameplay, they have to change it. I didn't really have issues hitting anyone at the border though.

Or you just don't know how to play it? It is manouverable enough to dodge pretty much everything fired upon you from a distance of 10+km

Skilled CV captain + 3-man platoon of good players. His scores in these carriers are good, but there are other CV players who have better scores (Im comparing average dmg and average kills, as these tell you the most about strike CV efficiency) -
Day 3 after wipe... Finally got my hands on Ryujo, took me 18 games with Zuiho. In the end I was almost always matched against 2 enemy CVs, the MM is slowly normalizing. Don't have enough free exp to unlock bomber deck though, so I will have to play something else in the meantime. Probably IJN cruisers. edit:

They are good at Hosho, because enemy Hosho also has one, so you throw them at him and bomb stuff in meantime. Beside that, for nothing.

Actually it is not so bad now when we are technically still in CBT. Vast majority of players is trying to dodge, I would say like 2/3 of BBs are turning towards you / away from you before you are in range to drop. That was a pleasant surprise, but wait for OBT... oh boy.

I don't play DDs that much, so I always check detection range and torpedo range before starting a battle (bcs I don't remember them all). Isokaze has 6,1km detection range and really tends to get detected around 6 - 6,1km. So this was kind of your fail, no offence And that's how it is, BBs now have similar turning radiuses as pre-0.3.1 CAs. -
I play it as gun boat. I also named in "The pyromancer". Just zip around, shoot HE at everything. Set everything on fire. If you get less than 15 fires per battle, you are doing something wrong. I use torps mostly for area denial when there is someone chasing me, making him turn or eat torps, but I am still getting at least 1-2 torp hit per game. Rarely I get into good ambush positions for some massive torpedo dmg.

Or if he is sailing in straight line without turning, you can go at 45° angle from the back. But that is so rare.

Torpedo ranges on low tier Japanese DD-s

Isokaze is awesome - just look at the speed of these torpedoes. They are 11kts faster than top torpedoes of Minekaze. And 7km range is fine when your basic spotting distance is 6,1km -
You cannot really hit more than 2 torpedoes per one IJN squadron. I would say average is 1,5 torpedo per 1 IJN TB squadron.

I was talking about his 70% WR, I have almost double his average dmg in Hosho and triple his avg kills per game and yet I have much lower winrate. With so few games it is just luck (and / or platooning). Are low tier CVs OP? Just check other topics, imo we should wait for normal MM before making such decisions, only one CV in battle and 50% of ships being Arkansases with no AA is not normal and game shouldn't be balanced for such MM.

I assume that you are talking mostly about current situation (low tiers after wipe) Couple of points here.. 1) number of hits: my average torp hit ratio per one IJN TB squadrons is around 1,5 (means that I either hit 1 or 2 torpedoes per one squadron). That is due to huge size of the aiming circle. Please note that I am using only manual drop, autodrop drops torpedoes much much farther away - with a brain, you should be able to avoid all torpedoes dropped by auto. Hitting 3 torpedoes requires lots of skill and is extremely hard to do even for skilled players (gets easier at higher tiers where ships get bigger and less manouverable). For US squadrons, if you get hit by 5 torpedoes than you screwed up something. 5 torpedo hit (out of 6 launched!!) is near perfect score that requires enemy ship totally tunneling (again, at these low tiers, because ships get bigger and slower...). 2) Hitting more manouverable ships. I am able to hit any CA even with one squadron, but with only one torpedo (IJN CV) unless he screws someting up a lot. But it takes time, you have to dance around him and time your attack perfectly once he cannot quickly stop turning. I can guarantee you that 90% of CV players will never hit low tier CA if he is actively trying to dodge (St. Louis might be an exception, but it is St. Louis...). Hitting DD with just one squadron is nearly impossible. With two squadrons it is quite easy, just anvil him from two sides, easier than hitting CA with one squadron... 3) You want CVs not prioritizing DDs and CAs? Change experience income... Right now I will get more XP for killing two tier higher DD with two torps than sending two waves of attacks against enemy BB. -

Torpedo arming range is 300 metres, didn't read any more, no need to read fairy tales from salty BB players. -

Aerroon does have slightly lower winrate, but much much much higher average damage. I guess it depends on luck + platoonmates performance.

Umikaze has 8km torpedoes (just played 1 game in it, so I know for sure). But imo the best DD for the lolz is Isokaze with 7km torpedoes that are very very fast (!!) and 6.1km basic spotting range.

No one is making you to buy all the upgrades for Arkansas, you can play any other ship and won't have problems with money. Arkansas for some reason was allowed to have all equipment slots like Tier10 BBs... -
Need much more AA on tier III and IV

Imo playing low tier CVs now feels like sealclubbing and we are taking about CBT players with experience. Even though, more than 1/3 of players is tunneling so hard that they don't change course at all. But I don't think that making any conclusions now is a good idea. Right now there is so many Arkansases that it is not even funny, one CV per side is too often and so on. Lets wait for more ppl to get regular ships (Myogi and Wyoming actually have some AA). T4 CV needs at least 2 attacks on enemy BB to sink it. That is like 4 minutes of focus of same tier ship (that is supposed to be hardcounter to that BB), I don't see that as "OP".
