As you can see in that table, only low tier gunboats with bad torpedo range and probably a lot of inexperienced players have low survivability, while IJN DD ar not even present in that bracket... so, yeah... guess that is not proof that DD have worse overall survivability...

Mine is 5 ... which I really like, since I played really low numbers of matches since karma was introduced.

Can somebody explain what the hell has happened here?
Nethraniel replied to JapLance's topic in General Discussion
1) that is why magazine detonations are stupid 2) HE splash can cause critical damage without damaging the HP pool, this does not count as a hit, because you only splashed him, but RNG rolled a one-in-a-million magazine crit. (more often HE shells destroy the rudder without hitting the DD) -
Exactly. There is only one real goal to this event: collecting 10 million pearls. If we do not reach 10m the event fails. In addition to reaching this goal, you can qualify for the lottery or the guaranteed Kamikaze R by contributing 150/260 pearls or more. So it is in the interest of everyone, who already has 260 pearls, to make sure the 10m are reached. If you did not contribute enough, bad luck.

Chance to set fire for a single HE shell hitting a section is calculated by the following formula: [ship's base anti-fire coefficient] x (1 - [Damage Control Mod 1] - [Fire Prevention]) x ([shell's base chance to set fire] + [Demolition Expert]) Damage Control Mod 1 is 0.05 if the appropriate equipment is installed, and zero otherwise. Fire Prevention is 0.07 if the appropriate skill has been acquired, and zero otherwise. Shell's base chance to set fire is displayed by the HE shell toolpic in-port Demolition Expert is 0.03 if the appropriate skill has been acquired, and zero otherwise. Base Anti-Fire Coefficients for top hulls of ships by tier (datamined from game files): Tier 1 1.0 Tier 2 1.0 Tier 3 0.9667 Tier 4 0.9001 Tier 5 0.8335 Tier 6 0.7669 Tier 7 0.7003 Tier 8 0.6337 Tier 9 0.5671 Tier 10 0.5005 Stock hulls at each tier have +0.0333 to the above number. If one does the math, it's obvious that the Demolition Expert skill is very useful, especially for USN destroyers, in which it increases the fire chance per shell by 60-75% for mid-tier and high tier ships. Fire Prevention skill, on the other hand, is somewhat lackluster, since it lowers the fire chance per shell by 6-9% at best. From the Wiki.

No gameplay impact. So shouldn't be any problem with that.
-
Hm, strange... my counter is now at 9.064.786 pearls.
-
It didn't. There are some glitches with the browser cache. Reload page should update the counter.
-
He is right that it is not written on the event page. You can find the date only on the news page.

Does your ship deserve it's tier status
Nethraniel replied to anonym_EFwxJOPWzlER's topic in General Discussion
At lower tiers, the St. Louis should be rather T4 and the Karlsruhe is not much of a T4 and could probably also be T3... -
Playing aggressively and getting left alone by the rest of the team, cuz no one wants to push with me... true for allmost all ship types.
-
Guaranteed after reaching 10m pearls. Not a second earlier.
-
February 25th is the deadline afaik.
-
yeah, didn't bother to mention that because we do have theoretically 3 sets of weekly missions to go. So 10m are more or less set.
-
Nope. 260 pearls will guarantee you the Kamikaze.

What Upgrades would you buy on the Minekaze?
Nethraniel replied to abkack's topic in Newcomers' Section
Good point. However, I had a lot of situations where I had to completely switch sides with my torp tubes, and I wouldn't want to miss the extra turn speed of the launchers. At these close ranges, the Minekazes guns can shoot, they are accurate enough. -
I actually killed already several torpedo bombers with my fighter planes. I do agree, that they are rather bad against dive bombers and fighter planes. However, from a DD perspective, I cannot count the times I cursed all the catapult fighters, that spoiled either my approach to an unsuspecting target or spotted my torps way before they were dangerous.
-
catapult fighters have exactly the same path as spotter planes, but they try to intercept enemy aircraft. That is the only time they change their path.
-
As mentioned: strongest use for catapult fighters: increasing your spotting distance (also for torpedos) and being able to look behind islands, you are sailing near to. Needs a bit of planning ahead, but works like a charm.

What Upgrades would you buy on the Minekaze?
Nethraniel replied to abkack's topic in Newcomers' Section
Yip, agreed. I run mine with Torpedo Tube Mod 1+2 and Propulsion Mod 1. Captain's skills are atm. Situational Awareness, Torpedo Armament Expertise, Superintendent, Last Stand. Fifth skill will be Concealment Expert, when I gained the missing 4 skill points. -
Is the Isokaze more fun than Minekaze? Or grind Mutsuki?
Nethraniel replied to abkack's topic in Newcomers' Section
Minekaze is one of the best ships out there. Powerful if you know how to use her. Isokaze is also nice but you can achieve higher rewards with Minekaze because of the higher tier MM, more HP to damage. Mutsuki has more drawbacks than Minekaze. -
There is a slider for co-op/random/ranked... you seem to be in co-op... under random you have more than 2.5k battles
-
Is that a "buff BB" thread? Even if it is disguised as a "nerf cruisers" thread?
-
Not used to that... just started playing a couple of weeks ago after a longer break... back then there were no dynamic stats in port, only the basic stats... ;)

my information might be outdated... I remember discussions from CBT where Demo Expert used to be pointless. However, I now found some topics from Nov 2015 where the math is otherwise. So, yeah, I guess Demo Expert is good while fire prevention is useless.
