I have played RTS CVs extensively in previous years and quit before the CV rework. Now i'm back and noticed following things about CV gameplay:
Since you no longer have to control 4 squads at the same time, gameplay became a lot less stressful then before. Also it became much slower and more in-line with other ship classes.
Generally AA became more deadly then it used to. During RTS times only high tier US Cruisers were a threat. Now any 2 or more ships close together can reliably fight off your planes. On the other hands CV is much harder to defang now because of new airplane replenishment mechanic.
CV can no longer do obscene amounts of burst damage like it used to. You are limited to 3 planes per attack instead of 18 (for US navy at least) like it was before.
Hardly anyone ever tries to dodge CV attacks now. Back then ships started maneuvering immediately when your planes got close. Now wast majority continues moving in a straight line and just tanks your torps with their face. This is a good indicator that CVs are not as dangerous as they used to be.
Unlike other ships CVs still can pick their fights due to airplane speeds. On the other hand CVs can reliably fight only slow ships without and escort or harass solo destroyers (which they always could do just by keeping a fighter wing over them).
