Here's the thing if your stats really WERE something to be proud of, you'd be linking them in your description or leaving them unhidden. I very much doubt you're doing this for MMM which I don't even use. Hell I never used XVM in WoT which I was considerably better at than WoWs. https://en.wot-life.com/eu/player/DrMechano-503720384/ Stats linked for proof. That WN8 rating means in the good rating and about to crest into the very good rating IIRC. The thing is the ONLY time I look at player stats if they're a complete fail on the map (like the Chung Mu I mentioned who spent 10 minutes of the battle AFK hiding away in a corner as far from the action as he could get after he got hit once by a cruiser).

So is this them saying that CVs earn too much exp...so...that's them basically, indirectly, saying that CVs played by good people are TOO good because they're earning more XP so that needed a nerf but didn't actually do anything to balance CVs despite them earning too much exp or am I reading this completely wrong?
-
IIRC the other thing is that generally awful players will hide their stats...meaning MMM doesn't get a monitor on them. Say what you will stat hiding people BUT every time I've seen someone be monumentally stupid in game and actually cost us the match (as a Chung Mu player just did, spending 90% of the game AFK down in one corner of the map that he said to specifically after getting tagged once by a cruiser) and checked their profile...oh look stats are hidden. It's not like I'm some Unicum player either...I'm Mr Average when it comes to this game and I keep my stats open.

One of my matches earlier today saw a friendly Kleber get the drop on a Smolensk and the dude just shredded him. I've found that I tend to citadel the Smolensk at 15km and beyond in my Musashi and slightly closer ranges in American BBs since the shells still have the 'floaty diving' nature, meaning they hit enough to armour (deck and upper citadel roof) to arm. Its if you get in a close range right that because the shells go flat, it's much harder to pen. However if push comes to shove I just switch to HE for a Smol at close range, HE citadels still hurt the thing like hell and with a little luck you might blow out his torp launchers.

How does a Shimakaze deal with a CV attack?
DrMechano replied to anonym_ED57N4NbHHsY's topic in General Discussion
Basically yes BUT certain CVs have either very quick or very slow plane regen times. The Enterprise is hilariously broken because it had very quick plane regen AND huge reserves, meaning plane losses mean virtually nothing to it if played even semi-competently. Others like the Royal Navy CVs have a MUCH slower regen rate and the regen rate is something like 1 plane every 1 and a half minutes if not longer. So while you can't 'deplane' a CV, if they're idiots and continuously throw their planes away you could end up with them having, as you've seen, much lessened strike capabilities or none at all for several minutes. However a good CV player knows very well how to preserve their planes and this event is very unlikely. -
That is a great picture, never before has a battleship been able to give a "what?" emote. I shall steal it for other uses.

looks like he commited suicide...how?
DrMechano replied to Sir_Foxworth's topic in General Discussion
Hmm and it's an Iron Duke so it can't be a carrier who torped themselves or someone accidentally running into their own torps (which I have seen on the Russian DDs very rarely since they can almost outrun their own torps if they're not careful) -
There is one major disparity between non RN cruisers at low and high tier. That is that high tier cruisers get a heal while the low tier ones don't. this means if you're say, tier 7 in a tier 9 game you're already at a huge disadvantage in a cruiser on cruiser engagement as is without the fact that your opponent can also heal up whilst you cannot. Would it really be so bad if ALL cruisers no matter the tier got a heal, yes the Royal Navy heal could simply be better but it would still help out a lot at lower tiers. The same is true of CVs. A tier 6 CV in a tier 8 game is basically screwed for the main point that the tier 8 ships are balanced around the CVs they face having a plane heal not to mention AA scales exponentially meaning tier 6 AA is kind of meh but tier 8 AA, even on ships that are kind of meh about it, deal way more because plane health also massively leaps up between the tiers. Your already doing less torp damage, have way less plane health etc. so why not give the planes a heal? I imagine this isn't going to be a popular opinion admittedly, after all, who asks for CV buffs these days but it would certainly be nice for all cruisers and all cvs of all tiers to get a heal.
-
The tier 4 ships I would probably make an exception for since they can only see +1. That part is fair but the tier 6 CV should get a heal OR we shouldn't have done a 4-6-8 option with CVs in the first place and just kept the odd tiers in *shrugs* but its too late for any changes now.
-
That's what I mean cruisers of all nations should get heals at any tier. The Royal Navy heal should be better at all tiers but the rest at least get a heal. Battleships from tier 3 to tier 10 get a heal so why not have the same for cruisers?
-
Just a point but at, least prior to tier 8, the IJN rocket planes are kind of a joke. At high tiers it might be a different story.

was considering it until it is only available in an overpriced bundle and not on its own, as much as I'd like it, have to hard pass. I refuse to support the practice of popular ship + expensive bundle. I thought we had talked them out of doing it since they tend to offer ship on its own or ship in a bundle but apparently the HSF Harekaze is an exception.

Ah was reading an old guide my LittleWhiteMouse, makes sense it got changed, not sure on the choice then.
-
Don't have it but from all the reading I've done basically the hull that uses the 100mm guns, with IFHE they can pen 32mm of armour plus having 1 more set of torp launchers than the Aki, I'd personally go with smoke since the TRB isn't like the Aki/Kita/Haru TRB in that it only knocks it down to 30 seconds and not 5 seconds like they do IIRC.

Very interesting comments by WG's "SubOctavian" regarding "Russian BIAS"...
DrMechano replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
So one very minor buff compared to the massive nerfs it had, fair enough. -

DrMechano replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
As I said the main problem is that OP Soviet ships just seem to take a LOT longer to 'fix' than OP ships of other nations. Not only that when they do 'fix' those ships they nerf them into the ground but the Soviet ships get 'tweaks' and are rarely hit with the nerfhammer like other nations. Yue Yang I don't think ever recovered and hasn't seen any buffs since they dropped the nerf hammer on it... -
Italian cruisers are intentionally that bad?
DrMechano replied to Fede15thPzDiv's topic in General Discussion
It's bad enough that I actually prefer taking out the Marblehead Lima with my non-IFHE captain...a ship which is widely regarded as a bit of a lame duck (much like its tech tree sister) since it can blown up at just about any angle.... -

DrMechano replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
The other problem is, for example, the last time a ship got nerfed from over-representation in the KoS was the Hindenburg and that got nerfed pretty quickly. Meanwhile all the other Russian ships have gone bloody ages without so much as being touched. So you can understand why people are a bit skeptical about this whole deal. You were quick to nerf one which wasn't Russian but have been slow to do anything about the Russian ships. Not only that you OVERnerfed the Hindenburg so that now its considered one of the blandest tier 10 Cruisers with nothing much going for it even compared to the Zao (accuracy and fire starting along with good concealment is at least something the Zao has along with 12km Torps). -
Italian cruisers are intentionally that bad?
DrMechano replied to Fede15thPzDiv's topic in General Discussion
Lets be honest most peoples introduction to the Italian line is the Genova. Is it no wonder most people think they're utter garbage if that is their introduction? I will fight anyone in the street that says the ship is good. Horrible reload, Horrible armour scheme, no heal, no hydro, not even the Italian Smoke...just repair party and fighter/spotter. Compared to the Exeter which, sure has less guns but they also get the bonus of firing faster 203mm HE which can pen anything they face at their tier AND isn't subject to the normalization like SAP is. The Taco gets decent armor belt and Zao accuracy and the Exeter gets a heal and Hydro...the Genova gets...nothing...nadda..zip.. -
Petition to remove the "provide antiaircraft cover"
DrMechano replied to Spearhawk1969's topic in General Discussion
So you've got some DDs screaming for air cover and then you've got people like you screaming that they don't want cover... ...No wonder people end up getting confused. -
Ah my apologise Redcap, I misunderstood the direction of the thread.

The Haragumo I can understand the complaint but the Khab lives and dies on its speed like all russian DDs, sitting in caps is a death knell for the Khaba since it is also unlikely they have smoke even if there isn't a radar cruiser nearby. I will also point out that most Russian DD players are advised to ignore concealment expert meaning that, for example in the Kiev, even with a concealment module fitted, you're looking at a 7.9km detection range, they literally cannot get their concealment down to a healthy number so most don't bother beyond just the module and some don't even bother with that. Also you're forgetting that the Khaba and Harra's are the only 2 DDs left that eat more damage from AP overpen thus having them be front and center in a cap is just asking to be obliterated by BB AP so you can understand why, even with no other DDs around, they're reluctant to contest caps. Not to mention the Italian SAP is literally ONLY good on destroyers and can obliterate their health in 1 or 2 well aimed salvos meaning there is even MORE reason not to push caps these days.

Just so you know Coal ships are not considered Premium ships so they can be balanced and tweaked like normal tech tree ships.

Why WoWS creates toxic players and fix
DrMechano replied to G01ngToxicCommand0's topic in General Discussion
One thing that just peeved me off is someone with WORSE stats than me saying they know better despite having clearly worse stats and when confronted about it they get all like "well it doesn't matter." You know what I should just let it go... -
Guys, I just got the mission for Raimondo Montecuccoli
DrMechano replied to wot_2016_gunner's topic in General Discussion
Eh true...but then they never gave a flat out monetary refund for the Varyag...though I will agree it probably IS the worst ship in the game since it offers nothing unique unlike the Mikasa (just play the Bogatyr, better in every way, same playstyle) and only has its historical value going for it...much like the Mikasa.
