One of the other problems is that their natural enemy, DDs, even if they DO manage to sneak up on them have spotting from air being a problem and then this is followed up by the constant spam of planes. in the RTS CV days the CV had a fairly sizeable cooldown on getting flights into the air. This means that if a DD gets spotted they're under a constant barrage of rocket planes. Not only that but high tier carriers are surprisingly quick, some able to keep pace with DDs which means that you're unlikely to catch them once they're moving away from you, forcing you to spam your guns which means your spotted which means that CVs can just keep sending wave after wave of rocket planes at you.

Tier 10 BB's are cowards, why is that?
DrMechano replied to DarkPhariah's topic in General Discussion
Actually I suffer from the reverse, I know I'm TOO aggressive in BBs and try to push when I really shouldn't, it's a learning experience but this wasn't even me over extending, I had literally barely got out of spawn before I was lit up and melted down by HE. -
Tier 10 BB's are cowards, why is that?
DrMechano replied to DarkPhariah's topic in General Discussion
Just had an enemy team that had 3 Smols and a Haru, like hell was anyone pushing in to that, I barely even left spawn and proceeded to be melted by HE Spam...and people wonder why BBs don't move forward.... -
You think it is stupid, I, for one actually like that Jingles managed to get in that infamous trait of his. Here's a thought? Don't like it? Don't use him, he's a RN captain with no skill bonuses and the only unique thing about him is the voiceover.

DD roles vs actual incentive todo those roles
DrMechano replied to UncappingBadger's topic in General Discussion
Hmm I'm kind of curious, in World of tanks if you're the one spotting an enemy tank and they take damage, you get credited half that damage towards your own which means that you earn XP and credits just by being a good passive scout even if you don't fire you gun (and you get lucky). I thought it was the same deal here in WoWs but I'm guessing that it isn't (since otherwise carriers would rake in the credits from spotting I assume...maybe...I don't really know just a guess). -
economic Buff Rewards Ships Economic Potential.
DrMechano replied to aN00Bis_6VI6's topic in General Discussion
Tell you what I would like them to buff, the perma-camo for under tier 10s. for tier 10s its a -50% to the repair costs but for tier 9s its a -20%, that is quite the large amount of saving. Is it any wonder that people stick to their tier 10s if the other tiers camo is kinda meh... -

DrMechano replied to aN00Bis_6VI6's topic in General Discussion
I would argue that a presence of a heal at a tier where cruisers don't typically get it (if they're not royal navy) definitely helps the Eugen out preform its sister ships, letting it actually do the whole 'Battleship Hipper' schtick a whole lot more than the Hipper does. -
Currently got her unlocked from having played the Kita (a lot), I'm just curious if I should upgrade to the Haru, is she worth it in this current CV meta?
-
Yeah I've had the Kita (along with a perma-camo for her) for an absolute age it was only just recently I went "oh...yeah..the Haru...completely forgot about researching that..." So I was curious about buying her. However as many have pointed out the Haru is kind of like a side-grade not an upgrade, it's easier to spot and even more sluggish (The Kita isn't the most nimble of DDs) in exchange for 2 more guns. So yeah, I'll pass on picking it up for now.

How do you direct a message to a specific player ?
DrMechano replied to Pametrada's topic in General Discussion
This is how I tend to do my target call outs, hover over an enemy ship, press B and then flick up. It feels a lot quicker than fluffing about with the F keys. -
Italian cruisers are intentionally that bad?
DrMechano replied to Fede15thPzDiv's topic in General Discussion
The thing is I kind of wish they'd just done the running smoke as their gimmick and just not given them SAP, it just feels like worse HE most of the time. -
*goes to raise a finger* Erm...yeah wrong forum there buddy. Also you complaining about Arty now? You do not know the horrors of the old version of arty, imagine getting one shot out of the middle of nowhere with very little chance to do anything. Sure the current stun mechanic is annoying as heck but it's better than suddenly taking 1700 damage from a 203mm HE shell.
-
Ah I will probably keep the Kita then, I completely forgot she takes full AP pens.

How much XP does Lion cost ?
DrMechano replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
That is a fair point, didn't take those into consideration. -
How much XP does Lion cost ?
DrMechano replied to RenamedUser_92906789's topic in General Discussion
This was my experience with the Lion the accuracy is positively GERMAN, the combination of utterly terrible accuracy combined with the now raised citadel...oof...I know people say the FdG is the worst tier 9 BUT it's got more advantages than the Lion. Sigma value on the Lion: 1.8 Dispersion on the Lion: 249m. Sigma value on the FdG: 1.8 Dispersion on the FdG: 247m. So practically the same gunnery, sure the Lion can fire 6 guns forward instead of just 4 but the FdG is also a LOT tankier than the Lion now it has a raised citadel. The Lion also gets better HE but...well...that's if you hit stuff with it... I think we might have a contender for the 'worst tier 9 Battleship'. Edit: Damn I did not know the Alsace got a horrendous 1.6 sigma but then it does have 12 rapid firing guns so...shotgun bote I guess. -
HSF Voicepacks consisting of Several Voices ?
DrMechano replied to Sunleader's topic in General Discussion
Yup the HSF captains are the only captains that actually has the correct crew (aka not just the captain reporting everything) reporting in when certain things happen. For example floods, fires and engine/steering damage are actually called in by the engineering crew lead and not the captain. I believe plane and torpedo spotting warnings are called in by someone else, the Captain you hear is the one giving direct orders, you know like an actual ship. -
Well it's a close contest between Azuma, Georgia and the FdG (who apparently is REALLY good in AL unlike her WoWs counterpart)
-
Oh I'm very aware of what AL can deliver...I mean just look at the captain we got from the collection Sweet lordy those are some large flotation tanks...Hell from what I can tell she actually puts most BATTLESHIPS to shame with those... This little diversion has been sponsored by the Tig Anime Biddy's brigade, we'll now return you to actual proper discussion.
-
Funny thing is KC actually already HAS western ships. One is ridiculously popular, Iowa, because she's...well...just look at her... Not only that look (she has the biggest...flotation tanks...even bigger than the Yamashi twins) but also because she's considered on-par or slightly better than the Yamashi sisters apparently. Then you've got the old Warpsite So there are already non-IJN ships available (Kriegsmarine, US, RN, RM, MN, VMF, Hell they've even got a single swedish navy ship!) which makes it even stranger that they seem actively hostile to a western market.

So, according to pretty much all the data we, as players, have access to we can conclude the following points. Shortening the skill gap: Failed...good CV players will still outpreform bad CV players by a country mile. Increasing CV player numbers: Partially failed. After the big spike back when the Rework was introduced the numbers are now down to a very small fraction of what they were once again but more than pre rework CV levels. CV balancing: Failed. While a CV can nolonger just instantly delete ships in a single salvo they're still a poorly balanced mess with Tier 4 CVs being ridiculous, tiers 6 and 8 ranging from godlike to mildly annoying if they're top tier or bottom tier and AA (which I will include in here as part of the CV rework) has been reduced from 'You can't attack a minotaur EVER unless you want to lose all your planes for a single strike' to 'at least one strike will get through no matter what and if the CV player is smart, they can avoid large chunks of damage'. This has also nullified some key features of certain ships being their AA. The QE, for example, was the best tier 6 BB with regards AA and, with an AA spec, could fend off even tier 8 carriers. Now the QE is a shadow of her former self and barely tickles those same tier 8 CVs. So...pretty much the big three things the rework was meant to address have failed miserably, not only that but we had nearly a year of constant CV balancing and reworking on live servers which has caused the CV hate to rise from 'they're very annoying but very rare and have counter build options' to 'I hate them and I definitely want to see them removed from the game' (to be fair those always existed but nowhere near as much as we see now). Unfortunately we're at the stage of no return. It will take YEARS for Wargaming to go back and rework CVs again because that is openly admitting failure. As much as I hate comparing Arty in WoT to CVs in WoWs they both suffer from the same problem. The majority of the playerbase dislike or are indifferent to their existence. Because of EU and I'm assuming US laws they cannot simply remove them from the game since that would require actual cash refunds on Premium carriers, something WG is NEVER going to do because that would mean they lose out on sweet money. So we're stuck here, suffering arty and CVs that neither side seems to be happy with and now they're thinking of adding in Subs to the game...which has got the playerbase beginning to wonder just what it is that WG are smoking since they can't manage to balance all the classes they have in the game currently, let alone adding in another one.
-
Wow that was overkill..considering MMM has nowhere NEAR the prevalence that XVM does in WoT, like I don't think I've ever heard anyone go "match is lost, Monitor says the enemy team has all the good players, GG guys..." but, well, dearly departed user who won't ever see this post...god speed I guess.

Actually that's a fair point High School Fleet is closer to GuP in regards to Wot. Both had a successful series AND a movie (which is what I'm suspecting the return of the Harekaze may be about) but they release material slowly compared to AL. The main thing that will keep AL and WoWs going is that both provide content to each other. The AL guys provide captains and the occasional ship that is usually just a retweak of a silver ship with special camo and WG provide non-historical ships as new girls in AL (Azuma, Georgia, Roon, FdG (who, rather amusingly, is hilariously OP in AL but terrible here), Neptune, Monarch and a few I'm probably forgetting). I imagine that they'll continue since we've got things like RU DD, CA and all tier 6+ Battleships. Conqueror and Thunderer, Kurrywurst, Hidenburg and numerous others are optimal material for the AL guys.

Yeah the KC dev team are NOTORIOUSLY unfriendly with companies outside Japan IIRC, preferring to keep as much as possible in Japan. Hell they announced and English version after, what, 4-5 years of the game being in Japan. It's why the chances of the KC team doing any sort of collab with Wargaming are virtually nil. As for ARP well it only got one season and then vanished off the face of the earth it seems, It had numerous collabs with both World of Warships and even KC itself but nothing really followed up after that. Meanwhile Azur Lane seems very open to cross over with companies outside of Japan and seems to be going strong BECAUSE it's willing to do things like actually release to western audiences without the need for a fan patch. Azur Lane is to WoWs as Girlz und Panzer is to WoT.

Why are BBs hanging back and how to fix that?
DrMechano replied to 66Schwifty's topic in General Discussion
One of the major differences if that you're clearly in a division which can massively swing the odds in your favor. I hate to ask but do you have a video example of when you're solo for us less skilled captains. -
The thing was for ages tier 4 CVs were about as useful as a chocolate teapot and equally as fun as trying to our a nice cup of tea out of one BUT this was balanced by the fact that they rarely encounter much AA resistance. Remember they use to only drop 1 torp at a time, had terrible rockets and their bombs were largely kinda meh (especially the AP bombs) Then they got rather massive buffs which resulted in them being absolute terrors. Not to mention the Research thingy caused a lot of people to reset their lines forcing them into low tiers again, where the low tier CVs were waiting to feast. Now low tier CVs with constant 4 CV games make life miserable. Before it was tolerable because they weren't much good but now...
