Why stats in random games doesn't matter as much as you want
Lemasive replied to Lemasive's topic in General Discussion
Alright, I understand that you don't see the point I'm making. The point is that random games, is not and will never be a place where you prove how skilled you are. See my analogy right above this. -
Why stats in random games doesn't matter as much as you want
Lemasive replied to Lemasive's topic in General Discussion
So I knew going in that this would meet a lot of resistance, usually people tend to not actually look at the argument as it stands. It's a flaw most people have, where they don't understand that arguments stand on their own feet and that's just how the world works. So since it's hard to understand I will make an analogy. "Jim plays football in the sunday league( for happy amateurs), he is reading up on strategy, tactics, he eats well and he uses the best equipment available and makes sure he trains out. Jim is doing really well against the amateurs, and thinks he is a big shot, a superstar. " Has Jim proved that is he s a good player compared to the player in Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, or is it likely that he is just good against amateurs? -

Started what? You have to be more specific, because it could mean several things. Again, I'm not making assumptions based on nothing. I'm doing it based on behavior and responses that are aligned to the thread. You're just making stuff up, based on some dude you met before that you think had the same argument as me :D -

You make a lot of assumptions about me, without having any context. Often people do this, because they are filling in the gaps of knowledge with their prior experience with people that they assume are in the same "box". It's not your fault, that you're doing this though. Most people can't really think critically to save their life, and you're one of them. Other then that, you did not drive the discussion forward at all. -

It's a good thing you wrote this, a lot of people will think as you. That this is a contest at the highest level, when it's in fact just public random games. At least you tried, amarite? : ) -

Right, but when people write I play the game for fun it's usually not in the context of high end performance, tryharding. If that was not implicit, then I should have made it clearer. -

Could you point out the specific fallacies? I'd love to see you take a crack on it, and I will reply to the rest after you have proven it's fallacious. -

You don't know and that's the point, you have been easily played in this thread for everyone to see what you really think, and what you really are like. You're adding a lot of thing that have negative connotations to "strengthen" your argument, but anyone with the slightest skill in rhetoric knows that it's a sure sign of a weak argument. That does not mean it has to be, it's just a sign of it. I like the part where you brought up Flamu (I guess it's some dude you follow on youtube?), and then you argue as if I brought him or some specific event up. Did you know thats a strawman, another fallacy that most people who are not good at arguing or debating bring up all the time. Really, I'm not surprised that you got offended, but you're not really advancing the thread into a good discussion as you are only interested to defend yourself, and slander anyone who doesn't agree with you. I will refrain from answering you anymore, as I want a healthy good discussion about this and you clearly can't have one. -

At this point, it's obvious that you have taken personal offence, thus going into the poor judgment of trying to assume my motivation and mental state. This conjecture really gives it away, and based on flawed subjective empiricism you have shown us what is truly important to you in this game. It's all about getting that status while sealclubbing absolute noobs or people who don't care. We can also see that you assume you're better than others based on quite arbitrary parameters, and it's clear why I made this post. Wherever I go, I can't help but put down smug people that have nothing to show for it. It's strange though, that since you're sooooo good you have these stats in ranked. I guess you have to rely on dat prem Massa to win you games eh? -

Lets see here Anecdotes, ad homs and sealclubbing in "clan brawls". The only useful thing you wrote was this And that shows that you confuse being a skilled player, with having a skill. So to summarize, your argument was ineffective and lacked insight into what makes a good player. Not to mention you missed the title that says random games stats, and answered something else. Thanks for participating, shame you didn't get it right.- 242 replies

So I've started playing my Yamato again, I used to play it only during drunken night with secondary spec and just had fun with it. Now that the new skills have arrived, I've started using deadeye. It's extremely accurate, so much that I honestly think it should be nerfed as I can hit a DD on over 28km. Anyway, the problem with the reporting system is that when you are fulfilling your role and doing damage most people don't understand what is going on. It could be a CV doing their thing, and a teammate gets angry because the CV doesn't spot for him and thats a report, or the thunderer that is sniping in the start/mid game as he should and gets reported because someone suicided into a cap. You should only be able to report a player after the game, and that report should have little consequence based on how people are using it.

Change the reporting system, it's being abused

Yet my ranked stats in the Kurfurst beg to differ -
There are just too many cons with the entire idea, rather than promoting team play it causes people to do the opposite. So the question is why it there from the start, what is the intention behind it? Pros It makes it easier to rank up for certain types of ships You should not get punished for playing well Cons People avoid helping the team, instead they focus on what gives them the most exp What gives you exp and what doesn't give you exp is skewed to favor certain ships Most players are not concerned with winning as much as not losing a star, as some losses are expected. This creates scenarios where people rather lose the game and perhaps save a star instead of trying their best to win.

I never complained about chatbans, even though I think it's a sad state gaming today. So obviously your're missing the point, as usual. -

Where did I whine? I don't think it's working properly, and I do think you need a safe space. Look who asking for a mod, like a baby. Your insults make no sense, what does backbone have to do with a non function report system lol. -

Look at the poor baby, needs a safe space or he can't function :D -
What are you even suggesting, that the people should police themselves not to join ranked? Here is a tip for you, people don't do what you want in life. Stop assuming the best outcome.

Is it really so hard to read text? I never said you played selfishly, not once. Yet, you respond as if I had. So now we have another strawman. Does it ever end? -
Change the reporting system, it's being abused
Lemasive replied to Lemasive's topic in General Discussion
There is the real issue, your assumption of how one should play is narrow minded and selfish. In a ranked match, I can understand one would report a person who doesn't participate. However if you do that in randoms, just because you don't like the play style you're basically being toxic. Because they don't live up to your standards or what you want them to do, you will report them for your own sake? It only shows that you take a basic PvE game way too serious and it's most likely why you are so obsessed with farming stats. It defines you as a player, and you want the status from it. It's pretty sad, not gonna lie. -

It's pretty clear you don't know what a strawman is, so why are you trying to correct it? :D -

I never said I wondered why I am being reported, I am saying it's being abused and should be reworked. Why are you strawmanning?
