Okay guys be it luck or skill i reached rank 10 and this means the end of my ranked season, needing nearly 400k exp till my first tier X ship i have progressed as far as i can so i will do a little unbiased review of ships in ranked and if buffs or nurfs are needed. all data will be used from https://wows-numbers.com/season/id,9/ and the only stat i am really interested in here is Win Rate as that is really the only stat that counts in ranked battles, doing 200k damage and losing might keep you a star but it wont earn you 1. Aircraft Carriers: okay i lied i said i was gonna be unbiased but in my opinion CV's are in there worst state ever taking the AS from the US line and giving it to the JAP line has destroyed the US CV they are always out gunned in terms of fighters due to multiple fighter squads which gives not only air superiority but spotting as well. but lets seee what the stats say. Lexington W/R 43.99% / 56,793 average damage Shokaku W/R 52.67% / 52,139 average damage Enterprise W/R 58.06% / 68,574 average damage Graf Zeppelin W/R 59.94% / 81,553 average damage that is close to 16% win rate difference between the top performer and bottom performer. It is quite clear that the Lexington is in dire need of help hell i would say the Lexington would struggle at tier 7 let alone tier 8. interesting that the $$$ ships are preforming so much better than the standard grind ships. and its intresting how so many people hate the graf zeppelin yet look at that win rate and damage and people say it ain't OP? Battleships: i wont list them all just the top 3 and bottom 3 performers. Richelieu W/R 51.87% / 60,405 average damage Alabama W/R 51.52% / 62,056 average damage Amagi W/R 51.09% / 61,340 average damage Monarch W/R 48.98% / 57,194 average damage Kii W/R 48.3% / 53,235 average damage Gascogne 48.03% / 54,596 average damage not such a massive difference this time ranging from ~52% to ~48% could a few of the lower performers do with a small buff? perhaps but for the most part i would say battleships are reasonably balanced Cruisers: ok on to cruisers, i dont really play cruisers in my own opinion there role as anti dd/AA/supporting fire seams to me a bit of a jack of all trades ship but master of none. again i will list the top 3 and bottom 3. Kutuzov W/R 53.31% / 60306 average damage Atago W/R 52.24 / 45153 average damage Prinz Eugen 51.76 / 41,717 average damage Admiral Hipper 48.6% / 37,519 average damage New Orleans 48.77% / 33,749 average damage Mogami 49.6% / 41,590 average damage Interestingly the Kutuzov out scores the vast majority of battleships in terms of damage with a average damage of 60306 a full 15K more than its closest rival the Atago (45153) she looks like a prime candidate for the nerf bat a cruiser that out damages battleships on average is just wrong. Destroyers: again i dont really play dd's to often though i have played them often enough to know how to play them. Loyang W/R 54.03% / 28,510 average damage Akizuki W/R 53.48% / 34,589 average damage Kidd W/R 53.33% / 29,533 average damage Hsienyang W/R 47.92% /27,073 average damage Harekaze W/R 47.03% / 25,499 average damage Ognevoi W/R 46.25% / 24,023 average damage well at first glance it looks like a few dd's could do with a little buff and the akizuki's damage looks a little high compared to the rest where as the ognevoi looks like it might benefit from a little buff. over all the ships in the most need of help is clearly the Lexington, battleships and cruisers seams fine though the Kutuzov seams a little op to me destroyers seams ok a few ships with damage that seams a little to high this is my opinion from season 9 love to gauge your guys opinions

    i use HE depending on situation if a cv makes his target known to the team i tend to switch to HE and fire at that target with the whole intent on him catching a few fires and using his DMG CON so when the cv does his strike the potential for massive flood damage is there not to mention the fires from dive bombers are a lot more deadlier if your flooding as well

    traditionally with WG premium's tend to have slightly worse stats in exchange for better income and crew/captain trainer and lower repair cost's (i.e a credit earner) if a premium ship is out preforming that it should get nerfed just because you brought it don't make it immune to balancing. and on to the can't part look at wot there re-balancing the kv-5 at the moment

    i would wait until WG™ has sorted out CV's in there current state they are so unbalanced i am surprised WG hasn't suspended games for CV's or at least banned them from ranked. with tier 5 (non manual drop/strafe matched up with tier 6 (which can) gives such a massive advantage to the tier 6 it ain't even funny. not to mention the state of the US carrier line at the moment CV's are in the worst place they have even been in even in my opinion. i like playing CV's but taking my Lexington into a ranked battle just makes me feel like i am gambling for my whole team stats dont lie. https://wows-numbers.com/season/id,9/ 4 cv's to chose from at tier 8 the Lexington (win rate in season 9: 43.99%) the Shokaku (win rate in season 9: 52.67%) The Enterprise (win rate in season 9: 58.06%) The Graf Zeppelin (win rate in season 9: 59.94%) as you can see the Lexington is so far behind on win rate it a joke and the reason is simple every other ship there has at least 2 fighter squads and once the fighter war is lost they can strike with impunity while the lex has to play safe and take opportunistic strikes where they can not to mention the extra spotting ability with multiple fighter squads. so as the op asked does strafing need removing? probably not. do CV's need a ton of work to even make balanced at this point hell yes, do we ever get feedback from @MrConway about the abysmal state of CV's and WG™ plan to fix them? no and its unlikely we will. they no its massively unbalanced like i said stats don't lie.
  5. lemming trains can work if they are given a target for them to hit there is no point lemming training 1 way or the other if there isnt a clear objective often lemming trains dont even head for a cap but rather the red line a large force all heading for A with the intention of once they cap A they carry on to B can work a large force that heads for A the lead ship takes large amounts of damage and pulls back the whole train follows them is gonna fail a large force that sails off in a random blob with no target set is just gonna fail lemming trains only really work well if you communicate and focus fire on a side note when in a cv i often hate seeing large groups of ships with overlapping aa so yes lemming can help vs aircraft however as a dd i love just spamming torps into those close together blobs that crash into each other trying to avoid torps the panic it sends breaks up the lemming train as well as causes conflict on the other team as they start blaming each other as to why they could not dodge the torps because the person next to them in there slow turning bb couldn't move out the way in time. so yes there are pros and cons in a clan battle and even ranked to a extent lemming trains can and do work, in randoms getting 12 players to actually agree to a plan would take longer than trump convincing mexico to pay for the wall he wants hell we would probably have colony's on mars sooner

    to be fair a commonwealth tech tree seams more of a valid concept with the likes of Canada, Australia, new Zealand, south Africa, India ect In fact my commonwealth tech tree would look something like this a amalgam of cruisers and destroyers HMCS Rainbow From Canada as a good low tier cruiser (Tier 1) HMAS Anzac From Australia would make a good entry level destroyer (Tier 2) HMAS Australia Again from Australia in at (Tier 3) HMAS Australia same name different ship this cruiser looks good at (tier 4) INS Delhi From India looks good at (tier 5) SAS Jan van Riebeeck From south Africa look like a choice at (tier 6) HMNZS Bellona from new Zealand looks a good choice at (Tier 7) HMAS Arunta a nice little Destroyer from Australia for (Tier 8) HMCS Ontario from Canada this former Minotaur class looks good at (Tier 9) HMNZS Royalist From new Zealand looks to be a good contender for (Tier 10)

    Battleship change/rebalance

    I think your completely wrong, yes from a player and gaming standpoint you want the bb's to tank as it were but from a ship point of view the whole reason nations kept making larger caliber guns was so they could kill the hostile before the hostile got into range. hence in game longer range the higher the tier you climb it makes sense the problem is WG wanted a historically correct game for the most part which kinda means bb's are almost designed to be sitting at max range, even if that does mean they only land 1 in 5 shots. because if the enemy your shooting cant reach you, you will win eventually the whole reason nations kept making larger caliber guns was so they could kill the hostile before the hostile got into range. from a game point of view it kinda sucks because its counter intuitive we are given a ship with the most hp, best armor, great survive ability, with secondary guns that are capable of dealing with destroyers on there own and then we give them guns that have the best range. one set of stats say push in and tank then the gun range says wait a second his guns only have a max range of 20km mine are 23km why not just sit here and take pot shots he cant hit back. the only way to fix it to bb's tank is to reverse the ranges of cruisers and battleships but wg wont do that because of historically correct reasons not to mention it will leave bb's to fight dd's as cruisers will be sitting at max range instead spamming h/e rounds but this can be easily fixed with heavy cruisers and light cruiser split 1 class made to sit at max range 1 made to hunt dd's in fact while i am thinking about it that kinda a fixes the issue hear me out a sec 1. swap BB and Cruiser firing ranges around (will naturally force bb's to push to be able to hit back) 2. make heavy cruisers a rapid firing dd nightmare with firing range a little worse than bb's. ( the good armor of the heavy cruiser will allow it to take a hit from a bb) 3. give light cruisers best range but awful dispersion. (long ranged fast firing but all over the place) leave dd's as they are as for cv's well leave that mess for another day. job done battleships will be forced almost into pushing heavy cruisers with there limited range will be forced to support light cruisers with there non-existent armor can stay and range and spray and pray. and to hell with historically correct. at least that's how i would do it
  8. while i don't usually say dd's are under powered due to my lack of experience in them but i took my Omaha out just now and it was stupid 1 shell hit red dd lost his engine he repairs instantly which is the right thing to do in my opinion a sitting still dd is a dead, yet next shot 1 shell hit and again he loses his engine and is rapidly sunk, later on in the battle i encounter another dd and guess what happens.....nope your wrong 2 hits that dd loses his engine and his rudder but as he had just put out a fire he was then a sitting duck. so my question is with bb's able to delete dd's at will with random insane over pens combined with the dd's rather exposed engine and rudder should dd's have a buff to there engine and rudder hp to make them a little more sturdy in battle. p.s this ain't a whine thread i don't really play dd's this is purely from a observation perspective
  9. post screen shots of personal good games which the team somehow managed to lose in ranked battles for me this 1 from today at least i didn't lose a star but kinda felt my performance deserved a star, on a side note the roma was down to 2k hp i just needed 8 seconds more

    ahh the normal jump to conclusions wish i had the replay but at no point was i less than 15km away from any cap point apart from the start and i capped my and the princz went b encountered there whole team the rest went c and for some reason they were firing at c and ignoring me and the prinz completely for the most part only firing on us when we contested cap granted i wasnt doing much spotting the princz was there for that

    I personally was what a lot of people might call afk for half a ranked battle earlier in my lexington for the simple reason my internet went down for 10 mins unexpectedly, having a ship afk sucks but ultimately real life issues such as internet going down shouldn't really be punished as its outside the players control

    my argument to you saying if your not equipped with it you shouldn't use it is simply this, in a real world situation ships that can smoke will always smoke up valuable assets that cant smoke up its a bit like saying if your playing a FPS and a team mate flash-bangs a enemy you shouldn't shoot them.

    yeah its a shame we had to sink the belgrano but hey thats war, i truly hope all that were killed rest in peace and my condolences to the family. That said a Argentina tech tree just wouldn't work, The vast majority Argentina warships were either brought from other country's or built in other country's. Take the ARA Veinticinco de Mayo, it was just a old British colossus class carrier that was first commissioned in 1945. a lot of Argentina's ships that would fit into the time frame of world of warships are to be quite frank second hand obsolete decommissioned warships from other nations

    I see nobody is even answering the op's question and just dribbling on about armor, speed and what ever else you guys are going on about. the question is why can the New york class ship at tier 5 reach a max range of over 20km something that is matched after until tier 8

    I guess the crux of the matter is simply this if the X makes no impact what so ever then what is the point of it being in the mod in the first place, all that time and effort to code it seams a pointless excise if it brings no value. If it does in deed make a difference which i personally believe it does (after watching videos and indeed trying and using the mod for the last 2 days) then it quite frankly needs to be banned as it offers players using this mod a added advantage regardless of how small or large that advantage may be. The only other solution would be for WG to add this to the vanilla client. i am not against the X so to speak but it should be available to everyone.

    for me its not fire damage its fire chance thats the problem. for me BB's should for the most part be ~10% excluding RN BB's Cruisers should be ~10% as they can fire a lot more rounds per min they have a much greater chance to start fire's for DD's i would reduce this to ~5%/~10% depending on torp boat or gun boat. it would still make all class's balanced crusers get there H/E fire damage back as do dd's while bb's still got a ok chance to start a fire

    i am guessing google is lying to you buddy real warships in real life of this era we play have a top speed of like 35 kts and i can promises you right now we certainly didn't have warships sailing the ocean doing 64,820 km/h which is about 40,277 mp/h dam to avoid getting bombed by planes you would just whack it into full speed ahead and accelerate away from them. in fact that works out at like 18 km/s you couldn't go full speed you would be going faster than the speed required to break away from earths gravity and break orbit which requires a speed of 11.2 km/h FYI a kt is 1.852km/h as opposed to the 1,852 the decimal instead of a comma is rather important here

    personally i would like it if they expanded upon islands and address island hugging make it that you can run aground causing you to taking damage in the form of taking on water as you have just ripped open your hull on coastal rocks. the bigger the displacement the quicker you run aground make situational awareness a thing. BB's should run aground at say 1/2 a km cruisers 300 meters destroyers 100 meters CV's 800 meters

    If im playing a map where i am in a cyclone with limited range and i am spotted by a single cruiser and i am in a bb guess what i am gonna engage that cruiser. the X however will allow others that cant see me to open fire as well, granted a lot of guess work will go into them hitting but it gives them a base marker to aim at. a marker that players not using this mod don't have

    that looks like the Edited though half the battle he dont appear to even be looking at what hes shooting, though i can tell you this mod is very much banned and you will likely lose you account if you use it also last i heard you had to pay a subscription to use this garbage

    tell that to this CV that just got blind-fired and citadeled, granteed the cv would have still probably died but he might have got 1 last attack off this X took that away from them. also when your detected you go into a more defensive posture zigzag change speeds ect when your not spotted you guards down they cant see you no need to worry then blam from blind fire. though i think they should remove the detected mechanic anyway after all hows the captain of your ship suppose to know hes detected when he cant see anything detecting them its just stupid, though this would buff and nerf dd's depending on the situation

    well i watched your video op i installed the mod pack played 2 battles blind firing i got 1 hit using the X watching for fire in smoke i got 2 hits so watching for me is more effective, however using the X marks the spot in combination with leading my shots i noticed a massive improvement at hitting ships sailing away at at a angle for some reason was it me just getting a little lucky those games i think not
