What Were Your Greatest Gaming Achievements Today ?

I know this pretty much amounts to seal clubbing, but this Isokaze game went rather well, I'd say... It didn't help the team the fact that a Myogi was afk for three wuarters of the battle, but I guess it helped my kill score, as I don't kill that many ships that often...
  3. On NavWeaps, it puts two values for typical WWII performance of the 152 mm gun Model 1929 (although it says that the sources are not unanimous as for maximum range and muzzle velocities): Also, it is not clear what kind of shells the cruiser was firing, as in one article it was mentioned that by the end of the engagement both Italian cruisers were running low on ammunition and, having run out of HE, was firing AP. In the latter case, it would imply that the distance of the hit was a bit smaller than recorded on the Hebe's log. I had previously made a topic about this possible fact of the Montecuccoli in the appropriate forum section, but few saw it. http://forum.worldofwarships.eu/index.php?/topic/12635-longest-hits-scored-from-a-moving-warship-against-a-moving-target/
  4. From NavWeaps.com Also, it looks that the Italian light cruiser Raimondo Montecuccoli might have scored a pretty impressive hit during Operation Harpoon, with both the Italian and the British reports seemingly stating that the minesweeper HMS Hebe was hit at "approximately 26000 yds". Not bad for a ship firing on a much less conspicuous target than either a battleship or a carrier, and at pretty much the maximum theoretical range of its main armament. It still needs to be confirmed, though, so I don't pop the cork just yet.
  5. From an historical point of view, maybe you should read more carefully what you quote: "one of the longest hits", not "the longest". Game-wise... you're beating a dead horse.

    submarines? italian navy? i

I just pointed to the fact that the Dutch Navy can provide rather few designs with which to fill three lines respectively of destroyers, cruisers and battleships. Only two capital ship designs were approved, we have just four cruiser and two destroyer classes between the 1920s and WWII. Maybe I am wrong, and there are tons of usable designs and projects to fill the lines out; but by looking at the ships mentioned above, I think it's not much. As for the Russian Navy, I'd like to suspend my judgement pertaining to BBs, as I want to take a look at them before giving an opinion, but by working with existing and projected ships they managed to flesh out DDs and CAs rather well.

With all due respect, the Dutch Navy is in a more complicated position, since all the other above-mentioned navies can fill out a tree; it's going to be a lot more difficult with the Dutch ships. About the Pan-Asian tree, I really hope not; after we get a few German and British lines, I expect them to start working towards the French, perhaps together with the Italians, or at least with the Regia Marina right after them.

To what? Submarines or the Italian Navy? Or the Italian language in the game?

There's a pinned thread in the "gameplay" section, titled "PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE MAKING A NEW TOPIC", that says the following: (The dates may not be of yesterday, but WG hasn't changed the answers, so they're valid.) As for Italian language support, I'm afraid it'll be a while. If we cannot even get an Italian section in this forum, putting Italian in the game is likely not a priority.

You forgot to add an Italian ship for balance. I'll do it for you:

    New Mexico: at Tier 6?

I don't know what is going on, or what am I doing wrong, but since the update the NM seems to be the opposite of what she used to be; or at least, in these few days in which I have played here. Part of it are probably because of bad teams, or because of stupid mistakes from my part. But otherwise... my hit ratio has gone down, my damage output is down the drain, and twice I have been sunk by a torp wall coming from DDs that gave no trace of their existence. What should I do? How should I adapt my playstyle? If I go in personal, I usually get focus fired by BBs and CAs and get wrecked, if I try to stay behind some DD sneaks in and torps me to death. I'm really heartbroken...

    Somthing need's to be done

You have not done enough. Your aim and hit ratio, and conversely your damage output, aren't that good. Keep working on them, instead of blaming RNG.

    Flooding caused by BB?

^ This. It's not what the other guy in the Tirpitz did. It was what 1_Thor_Hammer did, with his torpedoless Amagi.

    Flooding caused by BB?

No need for torpedoes to be fired. And I guess that torpedo damage would have popped up somewhere, if they had been. Even if a ship is immediately sunk, ramming does in many cases give the "caused flooding" badge.

    Flooding caused by BB?

Ramming can cause flooding, I think. Having even a DD ram your BB can put quite a dent in your paintwork, I guess!

A couple things this game could learn from others.

I looked at Victory at Sea. If that's the way we can have the Italian ships, no, thanks.

  23. Aw, I got confused. I thought you were ragig at your own ship! The pleasure is mutual! I just ran into him in his Warspite, while I was on the opposing team with my Cleveland. His team lost, but he did well; my team won, but I did poorly.
  24. I just met Mindfulcrane07. He was with the Bogue on my team, with which he did great, while I was derping around with my Kuma and didn't do much. That's what happens when an amateur meets a pro.
  25. Maybe I'm weird, but I'm sometimes faced with the opposite problem when I sail my American BB (the New Mexico, as of now). To be precise, with the support being too far forward, leaving me alone struggling at 21 knots! A nice occasion, if a lone DD skipper decides that he likes making holes in my hull. I cannot say I am the perfect support when I play cruisers, far from it (I think I am too easily swayed by what looks like a promising target, so there's a good chance I might leave a BB ally on his own, although chances get down a bit if a DD was spotted nearby), but I try to keep that in mind. BBs are powerful, but they're not invincible, and if they are left alone they die; and if they die, the team is going to miss them. Of course, there is lots of players who might do better in their own BBs. Last night, I saw a BB (a Kongo, I think) decide to rush ahead in plain view; in two minutes it was all over. This does not mean BBs should be "passive", but they shouldn't charge ahead either; teamwork, if nothing else, is the answer.
