What is this?
-
If you're using the "pointless argument" card, then I guess there's nothing else to say. Very well. I'll just say this: I still claim my right to disagree, my right to feel differently than you, and I still refuse your claim to speak for all of us, ignoring those who might think otherwise. If you work with big numbers, let me just tell you that there will always be at least an odd one out.
-
So, you're saying we're a bunch of robots who think and feel the exact same things, and customers want the same things, and buy the same things, always. Alright. Science and research can show trends, but don't say that everyone behaves and feels the same way. Even if 98% of a sample group went down way A, and only 2% of it went down way B, would we be entitled to scientifically conclude that everyone chooses way A? No, we wouldn't. So, while science can show us the reasons why we like games, and what many find likable, it doesn't say that all of us find the same things likable.
-
I think it's wrong to generalize what you feel and what you like, and think that everyone thinks and feels the same. You are entitled to your opinion, but you have to realize other might have another.

Even if we ignore the fact that several of these happenings were due to agents that are not in WoWs (land-based bombers, guided bombs, mines, etc.), it doesn't convince me. Of 21 events happened in WWII, seven were about destroyers, so one out of three. Given that the number of DDs employed (and lost) during the conflict was much higher than that of aircraft carriers, battleships (and battlecruisers) and cruisers involved, these numbers don't show any particular tendency of DDs to go boom.
-
To be fair, your first post was very generic, and didn't mention destroyers at all. Not wishing to be offensive, but you can hardly blame someone for taking your statements as generic if you don't specify from the beginning that your complaint is about a specific class of ships.

Some interesting info around the world
Historynerd replied to Takeda92's topic in General Discussion
I'm still a bit sad that they said they've already been looking in the French archives, while they haven't done the same with the Italian ones. I really hoped they would release a French and an Italian line together, like they did with Germany and Russia. Oh, well. Let's just enjoy what we gonna get. And I am curious to see what we're going to see. My bet is on some contre-torpilleur. Those were nasty little ships. -
I was once detonated by a DD while I was sailing in a BB; he sneaked up to me and let loose his torps, I angled but I took one; that one proceeded to detonate me. Really random, really RNG-dependent shot. I don't know how many times happens. I just wish to remind you that this is how you feel, and to point out that I feel otherwise. I don't feel good when I get detonated, true, but I accept it in good stride.

They are not any slower than the New Mexico; and the guns and the armour are two rather big pros, in my opinion.

Right... Curse the Imperator; she has taken the niche that would've been perfect for the Dante Alighieri!

Why not? It could work, if we need an Italian Emden or something...

The guns in the same turret should shoot seperately
Historynerd replied to Pounding_Barrel's topic in General Discussion
This was a factor only in battleships whose guns were so close together that to fire them at the same time meant unacceptable dispersion patterns, i.e. the likes of the Richelieu-class (on which delay coils were mounted to ensure that the guns placed in pairs would fire one after the other). On the other ships, it was not an issue. In WoWs (when you can keep elevation in a way that would be outright impossible IRL, when you can always reload even when IRL that gun would have to return to a fixed elevation and remain there for 30 secs) we don't need this. -
I already answered to your reasons stated above, and explained why the situation in WoWs is different than the one of WoT, not to mention that Wg has already mentioned Italian ships as coming, even though they didn't give dates.

Hmmm... this might be an issue, since it's a project from an Italian company for the Russians, who didn't use it (the Sovietsky Soyuz was different), and the fan-made Italian tech tree pivots on it as a Tier 9. Others have suggested some alternatives. This looks interesting, but is it in Hungarian? If so, not that many people around here can read it, I'm afraid...

The Giulio Cesare at most can be a Tier 5; kind of shotgun-like and underwhelming 320 mm guns, decent speed, weak armour.

What about Mikasa? Sure, she's premium and a peculiar case, but she is a predreadnought alright.

It's a completely different picture between WoT and WoWs. It's not just the quality of Italian tanks, it's the fact that the Italian market is small, and there is very little interest in them. No wonder WG is dodging them like crazy. However, the Regia Marina is a whole new story, since there is quite the interest for it even abroad, and it can provide enough ships for a tree (with just a few hypotheticals here and there) without sweating. Look at this forum poll: apart from the German and British BBs, the Italians are quite popular. We'll see them.

PROPOSAL: Full German Capital Ships Line (BB/BC)
Historynerd replied to 1MajorKoenig's topic in Battleships
Um... if you reference the Cavour-road, you should remember that in their case their gun upgrade (from 305 to 320 mm) was obtained by re-boring the guns, so that, other than some strengthening (I suppose) and overall modernization, the structures and the turrets didn't require any substantial modification. Also, do not forget that the Italians were explicitly allowed to do so, since the Washington Naval Treaty generally forbade naval powers from switching their battleships' main guns with higher caliber ones. Since the Regia Marina and the Marine Nationale had weaker battleships than the best (up until they began to build new ones), they were given leave to do so as an exception. -
Don't need to craft it. Take a look at the BB Deamon93 found out for Tier X of his tree. 406 mm guns that are stupidly more powerful than Yamato's 460 mm ones. 'Nuff said. Italia OP, nerf plox.

What are the "stereotypes" for each nation?
Historynerd replied to ArchibalFinn's topic in General Discussion
Not quite, since only from the Tier 6 (New Mexico) they have it. And the high-tier Japanese BBs go in that direction as well. -
No, it's not, and it would be good if more people used it. To answer your question, WG delays that feature a month more each time this question is asked.
-
Nice work! Btw, I swooped by on the NA forum to see what people say about it, and I read something that's quite interesting, about the guns you found for the Tier 10... Just one comment: as soon as I get my hands on this baby, I'll change my nick to "Trolly McTrollerson"!
-
Sooo... given that your study-time should be over, have you resumed your work, Deamon93? Sorry if I ask, but I'm suffering from withdrawal!
