    0.5.1 HYPE (5th or 6th November?)

At the time of posting that information about gold unification, I posted without double checking the estimated/planned dates and was using out dated information. Sadly things changed after that and I have admitted already on the forums I was wrong to put a date on it. I corrected myself later in this thread. I'm surprised you missed the thread as it was both a hot topic and you always seem to so diligently follow my posts. For update 5.1 there won't be any free skill resets as there is no change to Captain skills. If you have sources that state otherwise since the patch notes have been published across all server, feel free to share them. And when I say sources I don't mean a website that starts off with "sources say" or "here is translated stuff with no source to where it's came from". Replying to you is always an enigma Pernumbra. Here you are asking a question and already preloading it with "I won't believe what you say because you were once wrong in the past" which pretty much means no matter what I say you'll not be happy. I wish I could turn back time and not have made a mistake, but I can't. Contrary to that one mistake I post accurate and helpful information weekly but hey, if you want to bring up that single error each time I post something, there isn't much I can do for you there. I can only ask you to believe what you want as it seems you're never going to be satisfied no matter what the answer is.

    BFT & AFT already decided?

Passed this on to our content team and they're going to remove the repeat line.

    0.5.1 HYPE (5th or 6th November?)

The patch notes published on the Asia portal include content that was removed/not included. Apologies for the confusion but sometimes content isn't confirmed until the very last minute. We've reached out to our Asia colleagues so that their portal can be updated. The patch notes on the EU and NA servers are the latest versions. The Commander skills are not being changed for version 5.1 which also means there is no free skill reset.

    BFT & AFT already decided?

I've just got this double checked and the the proposed changes to Commander skills will not be part of the release. The most recent patch notes can be found here - http://worldofwarships.eu/en/news/cbt/patch-alert-051/

The blatant Russian bias of the game

Your point is that RU players favour RU premium ships. (not surprising when they only just got their first branch recently) And on the RU server the RU premium ships are performing well. You even then admit yourself that for other servers it varies. If you asked 4 men if they like the colour pink, 3 say yes and 1 says no. To then go on and say "A recent survey shows 75% of men like the colour pink" or "The vast majority of surveyed men like the colour pink" Whilst both statements are true, it's abusing your demographic number to make a generalized statement like "Most men like pink". The RU server on it's own, isn't the only deciding factor for game balance. We gather statistics from all our servers and look at thinks like matches played, maps played on, team breakdowns etc etc. It's not a case of just looking at a server snap shot and making calls based on those numbers. The lower the amount of battles a ship has, the greater the variety of it's win ratio will be which can easily be used to paint a different picture. Using the past 2 weeks as example for the RU server (using the site you've linked): Marblehead has a 75% win ratio (OMG OP!) - that data comes from only 12 battles however Iwaki Alpha has a 62% win ratio - that data comes from 193 matches (and from experienced Alpha testers) Yubari - 60% from 451 matches Arkansas Beta 57% from 1757 matches. Warspite - 54% from 382 matches You can't compare like for like when your sample sizes vary wildly to start with.

The blatant Russian bias of the game

If the Warspite is "underpowered" I dread to think what players feel would balance it. The guns will happily rip through tier 8 and even tier 9 if someone is doing silly divisions. (Never faced off against a tier 10 yet but I can confirm to wrecking an Iowa who ignored me and tier 9 cruisers can be 2 salvo'd if you hit your mark). A fighter instead of spotter, faster turret speed or faster sailing would make it a monster for tier VI. It's a well balanced tier VI Battleship, much like the New Mexico. If it gets a cruiser escort like a Cleveland.... You farm credits.
  8. No I won't acknowledge that. If that was the case we'd always be downvoted, be sitting in negative rep and the forums would be a much much worse place. Again going back to my original post certain players feel their voice should be heard over others and will be negative in any topic regardless of the subject. I fully appreciate players having issues with elements of the game, however when you look through someone's posting history and it's nothing but sarcastic comments, petty digs and pessimism no matter the topic, you're never going to bring those people round because they won't be satisfied until they have their way. Much of those players will naturally try to make out things are much worse that they really are. Forum moderation isn't something I have any control over, I do pass on all reported issues to Mr_Kubrick who is out Lead Moderator. We should only moderate something when it's against our rules, we should never moderate something just because we don't like to hear it. More choice is understandable and this is been passed on to the people responsible for making those decisions. As has been said multiple times, other regions have different goals, different market conditions and different reasons for doing those things. I remember trying to talk to players in the past how the Russian Ruble collapse is a pretty major problem for the RU region and trying to explain why prices are different on that server. The answers were pretty much "I don't care, I just want it for the price they have it for". Players want the discount but totally ignore the circumstances that are prompting the change. Once again, whilst the feedback is noted, the forums are not the sole source of feedback regarding pricing. Realistically what happens on the RU, SEA or NA server has zero impact to you as an EU player. We don't have linked servers, they're different databases and you'll never play with players on those servers so they don't have any advantage in-game over what's available to you. Players are free to have accounts on those other servers and they can experience all the highs and lows of those servers that go along with having accounts there. Vanhal, on 29 October 2015 - 09:11 PM, said: That could be very easily avoided. Like, for example, regular Q&A. I presume it is quite easier to get answers from the game developers and WG decision makers for you than for us. Ev1n Q&A were great but very irregular and now they are closed. A lot of the info about the game we got from datamining or weird places. And the info about the marketing is almost nonexistent. Hostility came from the two sources: first from the feeling of injustice, both in bundles and in non equal treating of servers; and second, from the feeling of getting ignored. Notice how the uproar is getting more every time next bundle is getting released without any answer to the previous feedback. Oh, and the moderation of the previous threads, even if it was purely accidental didn't help at all. Ev1n was able to do a Q&A as the game was developing still then and it had a much smaller audience. karsun would like to do a Q&A and we're looking as ways of holding one either on the official forums or something like reddit where AMA's (ask me anything) are popular with various other different games. When you're not a Developer, sometimes sourcing answers for questions isn't instant so we need to make sure we have a system were we can answer questions promptly and perhaps have a system to avoid repeat questions on the same topics or question that won't get exact answers (such as "When is the Royal Navy coming" - The answer is 2016 and we don't have details about what ships will be present, if we had a more exact answer players would know by now). Vanhal, on 29 October 2015 - 09:11 PM, said: Hence i use the "can you" aimed a MrConway personally when i saw that MrConway is reading this As this was confirmation that at least he, among WG employees other than moderators is infact reading those threads and is not currently occupied doing work of their as yet unempolyed future colleagues. I do believe it was not demand, which would have been kinda silly as by no means he or anyone else is obliged to respond to me, but a request. About treating the forums as personal Q&A section, i always thought it is one of the forum purposes. And we don't have the dedicated forum section for Q&A, so it is kinda expected that the questions and issues would pop all over the place. But again you're still naming dropping a WG employee and pressuring them into replying to you. I read threads all the time, the difference is I've turned off my forum presence to specifically avoid posts like your one where players feel that because I'm reading something, I must reply to it there and then. Vanhal, on 29 October 2015 - 09:11 PM, said: Funny enough, it is exactly what i would like to hear. That something is happening, that there are discussions, that people who makes decisions we are questioning hear about that. That they know we are unhappy. I would want to read about everything that you could say about what is happening. To know we aren't just praying to stone idols and you are not priests that sometimes come out of the temple to preach to lowly (un)believers. Now i do know you don't have the time to do all that and probably even can't say much about that because no company ever want the clients to know what's happening inside, but you just did a tiny little speck of it. And it was certainly better. It's what anyone would like to hear because it sounds a bit like drama. It's a very very bad thing to do in any company to make out that there is rifts or clashes between staff/offices or to talk too much about what's going on inside. As a Community Manager there is a danger of getting something similar to Stockholm Syndrome and instead of keeping a level head and keeping the channels open as you talk to players and colleagues, you lash out to colleague like you're a pissed off player and lose focus of what you're trying to do. Vanhal, on 29 October 2015 - 09:11 PM, said: I would say even on most occasions it is pointless, like "WG what the **** is that?!" rants that shows up regularily or on already answered questions (obligatory daily "where is RN?" thread). But on the recurring and/or big issues you should do this. This is one of them. It don't have to be instant, but something at the lines of "We in EU bureau are looking into the matter, we asked the relevant people for the answer" - that would do a lot to quell the issue, ofc if the quelling is not the only purpose and the questions would really be adressed later. Not necessary adressed how the players want, but not ignored. Although i'm kinda torn on the recent bundle response you provided. Do players really wanted those bundles as the only means of buying premium ships? Every obtainable info and feedback says otherwise, so you can see how i took that as absolute nonsense. We do that though. We post in threads to say "We're getting this looked into" or we'll post saying "Thanks for the feedback, will update you when we have more info". sometimes however there is no new info or the issues is resolved within a short time of our message. Other times the issue doesn't really need a reply as the only reason for reply would to be that 1 person some peace of mind. New premium ships will be added to the game like with World of Tanks, and some will be available in-game eventually. For others however we have no current plans to make them available for in-game gold and they'll always be sold in the premium store. They won't always be in a bundle though. Vanhal, on 29 October 2015 - 09:12 PM, said: That's another imprtant issue which have not been answered: will it always be the packages? No new bare ships beside those few already here? No new ships ingame for doubloons? Or at least not in the predictable future (like 2-3 months)? Ha, but can we expect it at all? Or any discounts like there are very often in WoT or even that were common here during closed beta? Some ships will only be available in the premium store. Other ships will be introduced via the premium store and then will later be available in-game for dubloons 1- As a premium account holder you already get boosted exp and credits compared to a non premium player. We have no current plans to change benefits for premium players as that wouldn't be something that's game specific. 2 - That suggest has been put forward and that's all we can see regarding that. 3 - It's up to each region how to stimulate their players and run contests. Again just because another region does something, doesn't always mean it's a good idea. Players only want what they see as a benefit from another region. If your region comes out on top you will never see anyone say "This is unfair, that other region should also have what we have" It's not going to be closed so long as players stick to the topic and keep their posts respectful and constructive. I'm not the head of the Warships Community Team. My title is actually Associate Community Manager and my time is actually intended to be spent more on project work specific for the Community Team. In Europe we have a Community Manager and at least 2 Community Coordinators for each language team who are responsible for coverage on all our games, not just one. Brynd is the Community Manager for the EN team and we have Ph3lan and MrConway who are Community Coordinators. All 3 of them also post on the EN forums. Tuccy is our Product Specialist which means he's the link between Community and Producers and then karsun is our Publishing Producer for Warships. You'll also find occasional posts from Tuccy.
  9. The thing is Vanhal, we're all up for having a discussion with players, but when a discussion is presented as a list of demands, the tone is unfriendly, and the thread has a nasty feeling of "We're not listening to what you have to say, unless your answers are what we're asking for. It's not really much of a discussion and almost anything we say will just be met with hostility and snide remarks. When people are asking for help and at the same time being rude the people they're asking for help from...You have to seriously wonder what kind of reaction they're looking for. With regards to specific threads where players feel we should be posting in, please try to understand that no single player over another has any special right to demand replies in a thread from Wargaming staff members. If we replied to every thread where someone says "Hey WG answer me" or mentions one of our names, do you honestly think that everyone else wouldn't then just make the same request/use the same tags/name drop the same staff members? We're kinda getting that way with certain people thinking every time they make a topic, we have to reply to them because their issues are more important that anyone else or they are treating the forums as a personal Q&A session. We love to interact with players, it's our role here and it's not always an easy one trying to walk the fine line between company and player without leaning too much on one side. We will always be WG employees but we will also always be the people who are here to represent the voice of the players. I admit in the past I could have worded things better when trying to get a message across, however on the flip side I've lashed out probably much worse at fellow colleagues trying to get the player's side of things across. I'm known for speaking my mind and not always thinking how best to word something when I'm just as frustrated as the players are. You guys don't want to hear that though, it's much easier to assume we're being ignorant when instead our absence is perhaps due to heated discussion internally or something like gathering as much feedback from the players to convey player sentiment on a topic. On some occasions there is simply no presence because as mentioned earlier, unless our reply is giving a player what they have demanded, adding a reply to the thread doesn't actually help anyone, especially the person who created the thread. You have to pick and choose your battles and also where your presence will actually add something based on what you have to say without taking what people are saying as something personal. Now going back to the OP messages and without wanting to post a wall of text: 1: Whilst the game is still viewed in it's infancy, it's also a game which is out there, available for anyone and everyone to play, and as it's free to play it needs some method of generating income to survive. We appreciate that some decisions are unfavourable with the more vocal players on the forums, and we take that feedback on board and make sure the voice is heard. It's why we're here after all. All of the community feedback is recorded, compiled and made available to our producers and developers. 2: I can fully see where you're coming from here and I apologize to EU players if they feel they're getting the rough end of the stick. Our EU/NA/Asia/RU offices all have different structures and it's not something that's going to change anytime soon. What works in one region may work due to server populations, or it may work due to having different responsibilities. We were down a few staff members recently in EU and recruitment is on-going to fill those positions. Contests in EU will be more regular and we're taking with NA and Asia regularly to discuss how to better improve contests which have global audiences (such as YouTube videos, Twitch Streams, reddit etc etc). 3: Weekend events are limited at the moment with what's available and what can be done in-game regarding making things discounted. We also don't yet have missions in the game to use them as triggers for rewards. The prices for the Warspite and Tirpitz are due to them being limited edition ships which won't be sold frequently. Again I can fully appreciate the frustration regarding their prices, and the feedback from players about this is noted. Something which is very hard for some players to accept though, is that forum feedback isn't the only feedback we will ever use when making decisions. I know some players will be really angry about that, so I have to ask you please re-read what I said. - "Isn't the only" What I've said is that we don't make future decisions just on player feedback from the forums. I have not said we ignore the forums, only that's it's not the sole source for feedback on certain things. It's really key that players read this because I know for sure I'll be misquoted later without a source link from the person misquoting me and claiming we don't listen to players. Sometimes packages will always be aimed at players with more disposable income and other times the packages will be priced lower to appeal to a broader audience. The core aspect of the game is still free to play and you can continue to play the game without spending a penny if you so desire. The vast majority of our players do exactly that, they play without ever buying any premium content. Now in reflection of all this, I can confirm that not all future premium content will priced at the same level as the Warspite or Tirpitz. - I agree that a 30% discount on the Atago is a good discount, but it's not a discount you can expect every month. - Regarding Mech Assault, I can't really comment on loyalty schemes for different games as different companies have different objectives, players numbers, and desires to stimulate certain elements/groups of their playerbase. That's before you get into thinking about budgets available and expected outcomes etc etc. In-game economics especially cross regional ones are actually pretty complicated when it comes the knock on effect different packages and offers can have, and the reason for doing them. Discussing another game's marketing strategy is a huge can of worms I'm not going to touch. Sadly I won't be able to reply to any comments this evening as it's taken me about an hour of writing and rewriting this reply and I'm off home now. I will reply to what I can tomorrow but I have to ask that players show a bit of restraint and don't expect replies to every single comment. Read the opening post by Vaderan and note what he's asking from each of you. Discussion is healthy, it's what forums are there for at the end of the day, for people with similar interested to talk about that interest. Making demands/threats/throwing out snide remarks isn't so healthy so please lets not go there.

    0.5.1. Patch Notes

Regarding the patch notes and why they haven't been posted here, or in the RU or Asia forums; is because it was stated earlier in the Dev Bulletin the following message: Is that all? There is more to the upcoming major Update 0.5.1, but we will list the nitty gritty in our detailed patch notes closer to the release of this version You'll also note that the notes weren't published on the NA website, only the forum. We will have a more detailed list of changes published on the portals for all regions, when things have been more finalized. There is no need to get out the "WG EU pitchforks" when 2 other regions are also in the same boat.

    fps drops BUG

Hi guys, To cover all your bases, can you please make sure to open a support ticket regarding your issue. There are multiple variables which can affect performance in a game and it's always advisable to run through the basics with support. What seems like the same problem as another player more often than not is the result of something completely different. The outcome may be the same, but what's causing it may not be the same.

High tier repair costs too high?

Interesting suggestion. Without having the specific details of the in-game ecomony stats (I'd need to get that from our Producers and to be fair, it's normally a "need to know basis" kinda thing) I can't really comment on the impact that would have. I'll make sure it's passed on to our Producers as a suggestion. With the introduction of missions this may help offset the credit pinch higher tier players are feeling. The rewards for the missions could always be adjusted so what's upcoming isn't set in stone.

    What the......

The only think I can think of is a desync with your client and the server regarding where the shot looks like it landed. Were you side on to your target or sailing directly at him?

    Halloween Event?

Well I'm telling you now because I wasn't in the office for the past week and I only saw this post today. I'm sorry if there was earlier posts which my colleagues have missed. As I said in my previous post, Halloween is something which isn't really celebrated across Europe like it is in the US. It will be announced in due time when it's more relevant to the event.

    Press accounts

Are you looking to do a full review of our game based on the details above I stated? No. A press account Isn't a free pass for regular players who don't feel like playing as long as everyone else to unlock the content. Please re-read what I wrote above regarding who qualifies for a press account and why. World of Warships is a progression based game. What you unlock and have available for you is based on how much time you put into the game. If people wish to progress at a faster rate in game that's why we offer premium accounts and the option to convert exp via dubloons. If you'd rather not pay for the game you don't have to, but you can't expect to be playing tier X with barely any effort required as that's not how the game is designed to work.

tier 10 is impossible to play alone

In fairness if you've uploaded this straight from a battle it's 2am which isn't exactly peak time for players on the EU server.

    First Battle Multiplier

The game economies are different, if it was set to 2x for the first win, what you get normally in-game would need to be adjusted.

    Halloween Event?

There will be a Halloween event for EU, but as Halloween has a different meaning in various EU countries, we're keeping it closer to the actual date of Halloween.

    Press accounts

Press accounts are given to accredited journalists/press outlets and gaming related websites for the purpose of writers to review the full game. As journalists tend to work to deadlines and have limited time to play the game, press accounts are provided so they can experience higher tier content. This is because World of Warships is a progression based game, so journalists would normally never be able to experience that content due to how long it takes to unlock. That really depends on the YouTuber and the Website/Magazine author. Many of the top YouTube reviewers are ex writers for various magazines or websites. Whilst I appreciate that there are YouTubers who want to do a full review of the game, there is also YouTubers who just want accounts to play/review higher tier ships without wanting to put the time into unlocking them. The YouTuber then is able to generate content that no other YouTuber can match (as they haven't played enough to unlock all the similar content), and can enjoy gets boosted views with a fairly large content creation advantage over other editors. Press accounts are both a blessing and a curse. If we were to give one YouTuber a press account, we should realistically give all YouTubers a press account. Then we should also give the Twitch players press accounts too. Skip forward 24 or 48 hours and then suddenly everyone is a YouTube Editor or Twitch Host looking for a "press account" for their channel. Now I know the obvious answer is to then have restrictions based on who qualifies but then what is the restrictions? To give you some examples: Are they Partnered on Twitch? Subscriber numbers? Follower Numbers? Average video views over the last month? Average viewer numbers per stream over the last month? Battles played on their normal account? Win ratio on their in-game account? Quality of their channel content? Age of their channel (how long ago was it created) Age of their in-game account Did they Alpha test? Did they Beta test? It quickly becomes a messy situation to decide who qualifies for an account and who doesn't. Good content which draws in viewers will always first and foremost be based on the person who created the content and the quality of that content. They don't need a press account to do that. All of our existing contributors are where they are without being given press accounts and appreciate how giving one or some of them press accounts tips the scales way in favor. It quickly turns into a situation where anyone who wants to cover our games, feels they can't do so without a press account. That's a slippery slope we don't want to go down. I stream myself and appreciate the struggles that people go through. Sadly too many people have started to Stream and do YouTube videos recently and then act like they are in the same league as people who've been doing it for 3 or 4 years straight. They act like developers/publishers owe them to boost their channels rather than accepting they need to work at creating the awesome content first. With good and regular content comes steady viewer growth. There is no quick and easy way to massive followers/subs. It requires a lot of work and commitment.
