  1. I'm a happy Giulio player. The kind of odd guy that got all Italian ships because he loves the Regia Marina designs. But what I love the most about Giulio is she is T5. This is one of the most relaxed matchmaking I ever saw. Battles are cool, short as maps are tiny, and there is no radar/hydro/tricks forcing the rock hugging meta of the high tiers. It's an honest and daring rushfest to the caps, a more active and energic gameplay. I love that. And being put into T7 matches is no big deal. (With her anyway.) When she got released, I saw Battleship, Italian, Tier 5. Immediately fell in love at how cute this ship is, and at its performance. Tho I admit, She needs some nerf. But uptiering?! This is way too much. Why not increase the reload? Why not reduce her pen? Or give her a less OP concealment at T5? Really, what is fresh about her is her tier and the MM that goes with it. If they bring her to T6, she'll loose this mid tier flavour that's part of her charm.

Mes 2 centimes.

    Is Roma worth the buy?

Not with the current MM. With these 380mm rifles in tier X battle, which counts for 40 to 60 percents of your games, you'll not have a good time. Tho, with equal tiers, she feels quite good and tanky. Indeed, she's super comfy to play, these guns, the way she turns, the range, the spotter... Everything is made to have a smooth gameplay. Everything, except the gun accuracy. They derp a lot, Bismarck style. And about overpens, yes. The best comparison I can have is with Dunkerque in this regard. Sometimes, she'll citadel everything that passes, sometimes, it will indeed be an overpen fest. Armorwise, it's comparable to american battleship, with even more tankyness thanks to her extra plating on the nose. Get broadside, and likely you'll get citadelled if the ennemy is closer than 12km. AA wise, from bad she became meh. You can't prevent an attack, tho the CV will have losses if he tries to redrop you.

Do CVs belong in Clan Battles? (Poll)

Seems like people don't want them. Though, the change in the meta would be huge and welcomed! I do not understand those who say they don't fit in the meta, as they never were tested in clan format, even moreso in this state. Plus, Metas have always been subject to changes over the courses of updates in other games. So I voted yes, and we'll see what changes they bring in this season. I'm kinda interested to see where it will go, and how clans will have to adapt. Up to WG to revert. For me, they HAVE to test.

CV vs DD: further nerfs needed

Easy way to go unspotted by (now useless ) rocket planes is to deactivate your AA and TADAA. The squadrons have to fly above your hull to be able to spot you. Then, when they turn away to try and attack, you disappear again. And even, now these terrible, horrible, fearsome, dreaded rocket fighters have a worse turning radius than dive bombers and torpedo bombers. And while aiming, they have even less margin of maneuver than torpedo bombers. With the last patch, I honestly never bother with them anymore, as hunting DDs with HE bombs became way less tedious and much more fun/rewarding.
  8. It looks gorgeous! I wonder how the gameplay will be, and if premium and microtransactions will be the same. I'm not much of a console player, but I can sense the potential in the controller gameplay. And about CVs... I believe Mr Conway, as this game seems to not have any repercussion on the main PC one. They already showed us with Blitz that the connection between platform was not impacting each game developpment.
  9. Hello there! I'm trying to swap the plane models between carriers, so that we can have more historical/pleasing loadouts on them carriers. I tried the basic swapping/renaming of files, yet it just ends up in infinite loading when I select the carrier. Do someone here have some knowledge of a swapping procedure? What tools to use, what things to modify? I saw there are some strange files, .anca, that I assume are the different moving parts of the plane, landing gears, payload, etc. Are they what prevents me to successfully swap? Thanks to the ones that would want to explore this with me!

There is a difference between losing planes, and losing them so quickly you're denied to even consider firing at this target. Losing SOME planes is just fine, yes.

I'm playing DDs too, but in a Kagero in a tier X match, even if the CV is here, I can still hope my torps will do something. Heck, I don't go to cap in the first minutes and hug close to my friendly AA ships. Tho I agree that Shinonome in T8 may feel helpless too, indeed. And for the patches, I still got stealth swatted by AA speced mino/desmoines even today. (By stealth AA'd I mean that the moment I spot them, I'm in range of their AA. So I have to turn inside of their long range bubble, which unfairly makes me loose planes over what isn't even a placement mistake.)

    Sea Fury and Graf Zeppelin

I tried to make some model swaps exactly for the same reasons ZWC stated! Now that we can see planes, I'd love to see the most relevant ones on my carriers! --I tried to give Kaga the plane complement she had for Pearl Harbour, and Shokaku her normal complement of Tenzans and Suiseis.-- Tho for now, as they added some animations/specific files for torpedo placement and landing gear, this is not this simple yet. I hope someone with more knowledge in modding than me can do something about it, but it seems very much possible! --And the first thing I'd do when I can make it work, is to give Zeppelin her Stukas back.--

I'm guilty of suiciding twice as a lexington, but by going to cap the point instead of using my planes on me. I committed seppuku several times by my own depleted squadrons too, but these were cases there was just no chance to win anymore. I believe it's what happened to your infamous ennemylexington. Why then? Because when it's the fifth time in a row that you're one of the two tier 8s in your tier X team, you just want to try and be more productive. Doesn't mean I can't perform, I have several 100K damage games in TX Lexington. Yet, for me to get these games is heavily dependant on stupidity and lack of teamplay from the ennemies. It's just that Carriers are the worse ships to be uptiered with at the moment. To get good result in them requires a focus, dedication and planning that is nowhere near what is needed to score in a cruiser or a battleship. You have to be aware of the no go zones... And more often than not, attacking a tier X ship means you'll loose at best half your squadron. It's the only shipclass I ever felt helpless in. And so, CVs are the only class in which your ammunition are limited, and limited fast by these sneaky AA cruisers that love to fill up the enemy team's gaps. The problem of players losing their will to fight (or just finding unfun to be put against such unfair opposition over and over again) can be solved by a +1/-1 MM for carriers, or by balancing AA more, so that just spotting a minotaur doesn't mean you get 3 planes in yellow before it even appears. I'd actually find it quite more fair if WG reverted their nerf on the spotting distance on cruisers. I really find stealth AA disgusting.

Matchmaker Discussion Thread & MM Balance

    1) Since at least half a year (I'm sure it's more), divisions are almost always mirrored when possible. It doesn't mean that they are always, but it tends to minimize the disadvantage. 2) This is confirmation bias. The matchmaking isn't subtle enough to take your own little name and stats in account and make you personally go more in losing teams. Try to really make statistics of your losses and you will see that you're just remembering your defeats more than your victories. 3) Agreed on the uptiering. Right now, I feel like I had 3/4 of my matches in Lexington against tiers X, I remember having been in a low tier streak 5 times in a row, multiple times. (Two times this week) The occasional top tier matches happen twice in a row, usually. And I don't enjoy my Roma anymore, for the same feeling of serving as a sacrificial bait for angry Tenth three battle out of four. Tho, it is explained by the number of captains playing TX at the moment (end of 2018, TX became the most played tier, supposedly because of the legendary upgrade farms and other bonuses given by playing the Xs). Yet, the worse about being uptiered isn't the frequency. It's that when it happens (at tier 8), the majority of other ships are tier X, these poor 8s are just used as gap fillers. If there were a majority of low tier ships in these battles, they would feel way less helpless (Depending of the class of course). So just try to avoid tier 5 and 8 until WG does something about it. 4) Meh. You know, as an old alpha tester, I can't help but prefer mid tiers to the static gameplay of high tiers, and I'm sure a lot of other players feel like it. Furthermore, we all have these little ships we loved and like playing as a relaxation. Kongo, Furutaka, Fuso, Warspite, Aosta... --I can go on--. There are a loooot of other reasons to go low tiers, and this isn't just to go bully these poor newcomers. Kinda paranoid. Seal clubbers ain't always sealclubbers, but just people relaxing in lower tiers, where the game is funnier and less scripted! 5) Meh. Question of point of view. Camping doesn't make you win games, but a daring move to cap does. From my experience, making a play is rewarded. It just has to be calculated. And these red line hugging BBs are just again a biased memory of the one or two you saw do this in all your week's games. --Spoilers, they surely didn't farm much damage doing so, with their accuracy and everyone pointing their bows at them.--
  15. Personnellement, Cleveland m'a bien aidé.

Which is your most hated camo by looks?

For me, it's all of the unhistorical green japanese camouflages, premium or not. If not grey, give me at least a japanese pattern based on different shades of white and grey. Japan just started painting mooring ship green to hide them, in 1945. It's not a battle camouflage in any ship, even for the CVs. I can bear the historical ones, like on Nagato and... ... ... And that's it. They even failed it on Zuikaku and gave the good one to Hiryuu, whom never was painted.

Coupon for being top xp earner?

So many restrictions... It's like you enter the shop, you see so many good things and the reduction ends up being on the last shelf with the stuff noone buys anyway.

    Azur Lane Collab

People nowadays overreact so much and are being offended by so many irrelevant things, they won't have any sort of thinking before they associate the image and the pedo stuff. You just have to see the reaction towards the safe and innocents HSF artworks. Hence why I think either they stick to capital ship, whose representations are mature, or it will stay on the Asian server if WG wants to use destroyers artworks. The average westerner will not be ready.

    Azur Lane Collab

Too bad for the Kancolle collab, but at least we got something with shipgirls going. On a side note, and that is what surprises me, KC seems to have been following WoWS news for quite a bit it seems. I remember when WG announced Gangut, and 2 weeks later she was announced in Kancolle too. As much as I don't like AL for some chara design simplification / exaggeration, some of their chara designs are interesting when you stick to capital ships. And, compared to KC game, AL game have a sort of gameplay too. So, let's se what's out of this collab. And I wouldn't fear the pedo effect, it's surely something WG thought of, they'll do something about those kintergarten destroyers. (like, not using them at all and focus on heavy ships.)

    Ships that need a buff

I played Mikasa yesterday... This ship is just no fun, dispersion all over the way, and secondary that are both too short and too inaccurate. Heck, I passed at 300m away from a Emden, landed 2 hits in the full secondary salvo. (Yamato captain 19 points with manual secondaries.) Furthermore, the ship is slow and sluggish. Once you have a cruiser at 9km, you're done for and only have to search for a cover, you'll not be able to hit him with main battery. Mikasa doesn't even have access to upgrades to secondaries, even tho her playstyle is entirely based on it. There is a middle ground to be found between a risk of overperforming, and being blatantely and laughably unable to fight on purpose. And if the announced russian pre-dread can have access to secondaries upgrade/have a better sigma, something will have to be done.

    Akizuki AA nerf?

Making way for the premium one maybe? Silver ships are not allowed to have nice things nowadays.
