Good guns but Mogami's guns are a bit better due to layout and IIRC fire rate. OTOH the torpedo arcs more than make up for that and then there's the HEAL... yeah, Atago ftw. I got an Atago and a Takao... mainly take Takao out for the lulz, admittedly, and I have her setup differently from the Atago. ... Interestingly enough, I think my Takao setup is better. At least, I've squeezed much higher performance out of it than with the Atago in far less time.

Flamu's vid is very much to the point as to why we're all up in arms. Still waiting for WG to say something other than the s*** they've been trying to feed us to placate us. No excuses. Moving us to NA branch sub-patch requires virtually no testing and restores the convoys. If WGEU can't do that because localization then it goofed up. And it's still fixable. Or, to put in other words, none of us care about excuses that there's not enough time. All the content has been tested. WG EU went through extra work just to prevent us from having access to it. Undoing that should be easier than not. Use hotfix processes to pipeline reactivation of Santa's Convoys. ALL THE CONTENT IS ALREADY IN THE GAME AND TESTED. Choosing NOT to reactivate is not a technical issue at this point. It's a political/marketing decision. There's still time before it will impact those who intended to grind AGS from the start. In fact, I'll just hand over the blueprint to do this without losing face towards all those who have no idea of what's going on. 1 - Rebrand Santa's Convoys into New Year Convoys 2 - Hot fix process to get it patched and tested 3 - Activate somewhere around the 27th or 28th or something like that. There. If WGEU commits to this and lets us know, most of us will set down the pitchforks and wait and see if it follows through. The question of differential treatment won't be settled, but at least the damage will be mitigated. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Fat chance, lol. I am no less incensed now than I was yesterday. WG is now officially on my blacklist for any purchases until I feel I am a first class citizen once again. This pretty much means bringing Santa's Convoys over as a minimum. The longer they hold out on them the more likely I'll just make the blacklisting permanent.

Already decided my sanction to WG for screwing us like this is closing my wallet. If the decision is reversed and we get Santa's Convoys after all, I'll relent and give them another chance. But the clock's ticking. No Santa Convoys, no more money from me. EVER.

The mob keeps the game running by paying and playing. Now we have reason to cool off some and the STs won't have reason to feel guilty they're driving it and we can't. We'll have our turn, hopefully in the relatively near future.

This is actually dirt easy, from my POV. Not only was the window on possibly qualifying for those ships already closed by the time most players got into WoWS, but they weren't hyped past the time people could possibly get them. Alabama, on the other hand, got hyped by WG. Naval Legends episode to begin with, complete inaction in informing the public they couldn't get the ship once it started leaking it was coming and details, etc, etc. We, the (paying) public, were led to believe we'd finally get a USN tier 8 premium ship, possibly in time for xmas or soon after. Not only that, but a museum ship. The hype was REAL. Nevermind that the NA community in particular has BIG REASONS to be attached to the ship. You know that school children gave lunch money as part of the drive to get the real life ship setup as museum ship? ... Yeah, think about that a bit more. And then we're told nope, it's an exclusive for a small community within WoWS and we're never going to get it. The fact is it doesn't matter if WG releases the Massachussets as a SoDak premium. ALABAMA WAS THE SHIP THEY HYPED. And we can't get it. Do you see the problem? Whoever made the call here needs to go back to PR 101. You DON'T hype stuff, dangle it before the eager paying audience and then go "Nope! Can't have it." And thank you, Hans, for letting the cat out of the bag. I personally blame only the WG senior leadership that made the call. But I suspect the Alabama issue may actually have impacted getting supertester applications. See, I'm among those who considered going for it and I hadn't made a decision either way yet. But then Alabama. I was aboard the hype train and now I can't help but think that, to start with, I'll look like I'm applying to ST in order to get a ship. And then there's the whole "Since they're going to review my forum activity as part of ST application, my very unhappy reaction to the Alabama issue will probably scuttle the whole idea anyhow" angle, so it doesn't matter how many glorious hamsters I might want to spin around the server, I may as well forget about it. Overall, however, I think the impact of the Alabama thing would have been greater if hype had been allowed to build up until patch release... at which point we'd find out and the hype train would crash. At this point my wallet is shut until I know more about how this is going to turn out and I've gotten the salt out of my system.

Yeah. Additional revenues would be enough. I mean, it's not like, say, merely as a suggestion, making it print credits and xp like a Missouri wouldn't be nice. If it also craps free xp with something like a 200-400% bonus, my oh my wouldn't that be nice. But that makes far too much sense. This is WG we're talking about. They'll hype a ship then tell its player base they can't have it.

In my personal case, it's useless for it to end up as a tech tree ship because I have zero progression in the USN BB tree. I may as well not wait and just go for the NorCal in that case. I was considering Alabama precisely because it's a tier 8 (one of the tiers I most enjoy) and it's a USN ship. (and before anyone thinks "oooh, boy, baaad idea to jump the entire line" ... I have multiple lines, BB included, up to tier 8 and a couple cruiser lines up to tier 9 and 10. Yeah, I know what I'd be going for here) Oh, and I can't stand the Standards. Slow-poke speed and bad range.... ugh. Armor is no good if you aren't in position to affect the battle, or find yourself in a bad position and get rolled over because you can't run either... The NA folks... boy, I so understand them. More the reason why it surprised the heck out of me they were doing the exclusive to ST angle. No other leaked ship that I can recall was special in the sense that it is a supertester exclusive. And a high tier premium for a tech tree that didn't HAVE one at that tier and which I'm absolutely certain a lot of people would demand WG take their money to get one. Meh, I guess I'll just keep my money in the wallet if it's not going to be made available for anyone but supertesters.

Not the first time patch notes have mistranslated into meaning something significantly different than what was intended. With that in mind, it's possible Hans could've been screwing with us for lulz and others joined in. I was merely accepting that until WG comes out and says it _here_, it can't be taken for granted either way. And I'll reiterate my issue is not with ST'ers, but with how WG handled the whole thing. If their plan all along was to use the Alabama as a reward ship they HAD to nip the hype in the bud right away once the ship's existence and rough stats went public. They didn't. Now some of us are sad we got hyped over it.

Well, my take on this, under the assumption that we're NOT being trolled by the supertesters here, otherwise it's pretty much invalid. WG dropped the ball here by not coming out and saying really fast really early it was a supertester reward ship. We've known for days the Alabama was coming, we've gotten some hints as to what it is and hype got built up. Some of us have in fact been thinking whether to open our wallets for it. And then suddenly, well, nope! No ship for us poor mortal souls who don't want to supertest or never had the opportunity to. Saltiness is quite justified over this. A note to WG, pay attention and don't let hype build over ships that you're not planning to actually release to the general public. You will get backlash, especially if it's a famous ship for some reason. I don't begrudge the supertesters for getting rewarded, just the poor handling by WG once the Alabama's existence became public. I guess I'll go shoot up some battlemechs or something to get over my disappointment now.

Oh, but it is. Trust me, Takao's a lot of fun and you're not going to get a ship of that same class unless you pay up for an Atago otherwise.

To be fair, _before this mission_ I tended to prioritize shooting at Kutuzovs. And Belfasts. Bloody HE spammer cruisers with smoke screens in enemy team must die. Quickly.

This. Anyone with a brain will look at german BBs and realise it's meant to get close and personal with enemies and play accordingly. I hate long range exchanges as a Bismarck/Gneisenau because the weak deck armor and inaccurate guns ensure I'll get the worst of it over time, but once I drop the range I'm dishing out at least as good as I'm getting if not more. The flip side, however, is that other battleships also benefit accuracy-wise from less range so it can't be entirely explained by this. The thing is, the main reason why I think german BBs tend to overperform is the fact they're very easy to screw up in and get away with it. What other BBs are there that can afford to give the broadside to another battleship and be confident they won't get nuked by citadels? The other characteristics of the ships weren't nerfed enough to make up for this. As ridiculous as it sounds, what in RL was a sub-optimal armor layout is in WoWS quite possibly the best by a wide margin. Long range fire is generally too inaccurate to compensate for the mid to short range advantages proper turtleback afford you.

Yup, mission design is bad. Best time to complete the mission was in the first two weeks... which is about when I got it done. (I got Nachi on the 16th I think) Unfortunately, actions by the OP only make things worse and aren't excusable in any way. I didn't throw matches away because there wasn't a russian ship to shoot at. Or it got sunk before I managed to nail it. Etc. I just played normally and earned the Nachi fair and square. The OP's just acting as an asshat.

Okay, let me get this straight. You are starting matches. If you don't see any russian ship on the other team, you quit the match, leaving the rest of your team down one ship. And when there's no more russian ships available to be sunk on the other team, when there ARE any to begin with, you also quit the match. Again, leaving your team down one. And you also YOLO to try getting russian kills. Yeah, I feel any "plz uninstall" comments directed at you are perfectly justified, you're ruining your team's fun. I mean, I can understand YOLO... the rest?... Nope, can't possibly be justified. Look, one last thing. Nachi? She's just another Myoko, 'cept in green. You really want her that bad you're willing to screw over your own fun AND the fun of everyone else who happens to be matched into your team? Perhaps you need to revise your priorities in life, if so.

OP, German BBs are already pretty much the strongest BBs in the game. Sure, their primary batteries' are typically the weak point, but trollish armor, nasty secondaries and speed more than make up for it. Plus, hydro at tier 8+. Buff their main guns any more and they'll be outright overpowered.
