My first impression is : - AA is okay... ONLY on the first strike. When you get out of your first drop, for some reason the flaks seems totally impossible to dodge and you get f*cked. Dodge in, can't dodge out. Why ? - Midway TBs are useless. Period. Torps that do 5400 damage maximum, no reliable flooding chance, and the skill required to make a good drop is waaaaaaaayyyyy too high compared to the rewards. I basically stopped using them unless I find some moron sitting in reverse alone. - Which bring me with to that super stupid TB drop mechanic. Game reward your for dodging, which is a very good idea... so why do we need to attack in a suuuuuuper loooooong straight line with super slow torp and super long activation range ? Any cruiser/BB player with half a brain is absolutely impossible to TB drop. In the worse case he take 5k damage he can just shrug off. - Rockets planes deals ridiculously low damage, but they are the bane of DDs. It's a new level of harassment. They just can't play. Even with dAA, I toyed with Grozovoi. I straight up murdered an Akizuki player as well. Didn't kill him but he lost half his HP in the first minute. - Which bring me to the spotting ability. It's off the chart. It's ridiculous. - DB with HE seems the only "reliable" source of damage. Even then, it does at best 15k damage and 2 fires. You just CAN'T punish a player for a bad move with a 50k drop like in the past, and like any other classes can do. Broadside a Yamato and you get deleted. Sail in a straight line alone with your AA desactivated and Midway will take 3 minutes to kill you. - Fire chance is super unreliable again. At least give us DoT if we can't have the alpha... My last game today, we were Haku+Midway vs Haku+Midway and everything else was dead. That was one of the most boring end of match ever. We won because we had more caps. We fought each other with 0 damage bomb drop (because armored deck, heh), 5k damage torpedoes and 3k damage rockets... On the plus side : + I admit I find those CV fun. Though they kind of ruin the game of everyone else + Giving actual LOS and detectability to plane is a great idea. I love the fact you can now use islands to hide your attack strike. + The flak dodging is a really great mechanic. What I would do to improve this : > Give alpha or DoT. One of the two. But not neither like it is right now. > AA is ok but losing one half of a squadron when you get out of a zero damage drop is super stupid. You can get in, you can't get out. > Give dAA to all DDs. > Less AA to BBs. > More AA to most cruisers. > NO DOUBLE CV PER TEAM IN HIGH TIER. PLEASE. IT'S NOT FUN. CV can't farm damage at all, while everyone is permaspotted, DD can't play, everyone have to form a huge bubble... it's stupid. > Introduce a one minute delay for the first plane launch of every match, exactly like the old CV. Being able to spot the entire enemy team one minute into the game is broken. At least let the players build their opening tactic. I'll probably buy the Hakuryuu tomorrow or in the next few days.

CV Rework First Impressions (completely biased towards my own opinions)

Alright. Teach me. I really can't do big damage with Midway. Best I did today was 140k. My first impression is : - AA is okay... ONLY on the first strike.

A peu près.

ShinGetsu replied to Z7II's topic in Discussions sur les porte-avions

Way easier to angle against an Azuma than against a Stalin. And Azuma concealment may be good, it is still inferior to Zao itself. No risk of being caught by surprise. Anyway, the ship got murdered now. It was super squishy before, now it's a floating glasswork.

Why tho ? Is Henri IV OP ? Have you ever broadsided to a guy in H4 with AP and reload booster ? It's basically as painful as Azuma.

Bataille classée : onzième saison - sujet de discussion

I S S O U Montana en HE ? Mais... ROFL. -
Sigh. Guys, stop throwing insults at each others for a second. And ignore Animalul, that guy is a clueless whiner. I'll give you my point of view, as a player in a decent clan but where nobody has the Stalingrad yet. - I'm not interested in the Stalingrad. We fought them a lot this season. If I had the choice in steel between Stalingrad and tier 10 Azuma, I would definitely choose the Azuma. - Stalingrad gets a very static gameplay, it's basically forced to hug its island waifu and wait for mistakes. - Azuma was a very good flanker. It offered a good alternative to Henri IV as a ship doing big damage to armored targets, and could punish broadside very reliably at longer range. - Stalingrad would replace a Moskva. We very rarely take more than one Moskva in our team, so that means at most 2 Stalingrad instead of two Moskva. While we field between 2 and 4 Zao/Henri IV in our team. As such Azuma could bring more diversity in our lineup. - In CB there is ONE BB. That means we leave that to our best BB player as we want every salvo to count. And Bourgogne lacks of overmatch against a good half of tier 10 cruiser isn't a good option there when we can take Montana République Yamato Conqueror. ==> Not interested. I wouldn't buy a ship just for random battle. - Salem (coal) is a joke. Absolute no reason to get it when you have DM in your port. So, yeah, I was very excited when I saw CC review of Azuma WIP. The ship was balanced, interesting, and I totally was ready to spend my hard-earned steel on it. Stalingrad is interesting but it clearly isn't an exciting ship to play. Useful and fits the meta, but that's it. And there, WG straight up murder it. How can you expect me to be happy about that ? We already have more than enough choice in tier 9 ! Give me an interesting tier 10, an end-goal that motivates me to play CB and ranked. That devblog announcement just made me want to give up a bit more on the game. Sad, really.

Azuma was (sadly) a good alternative to Henri IV/Zao in CB. Basically you got a very high alpha damage ship, with accuracy, speed and some overmatch, able to citadel any broadside at any range. It was very punitive against non-angled ship while being less dangerous than Stalingrad to badly angled ship due to normalization not being improved. On the other hand it had very good HE DPM. And it was super squishy so you needed to know what you were doing. It was a balanced ship, that probably could rival Stalingrad and be used as an alternative to Henri IV and Zao where Stalingrad replaced Moskva. Bumping it back to tier 9 just kills it and leave Stalingrad as the only steel ship worth using in CB. (Bourgogne is nice but lacks too much overmatch) It's just... killing diversity. I wanted to play Azuma in CB. Now I'll take Stalingrad which I'll find boring to death. The most attractive part of those cruiser is that they are punitive at longer range than the usual heavy cruiser. Calling Alaska a bad Baltimore is a gross misconception. It's much more than that. -

REEEEEEEE I wanted Azuma as a tier 10 steel ship. Would have been a very interesting addition in CB and a rival to Stalingrad in its own unique way. I didn't want to buy Stalingrad. The super static gameplay is not interesting. And they decide to kill Azuma ? FOR NO F*CKING REASON AT ALL. GG WG.You just killed all my motivation to try hard and get some steel. You guys really are amazing. -

Which ship should I choose to fight American cruisers
ShinGetsu replied to Ive_got_the_ships's topic in Cruisers
Minotaur can compete against Worcester, because if Worcester open the angle to use all its guns, Minotaur shreds it. But since Minotaur relies heavily on smoke, it's not a very good opponent against ships carrying radars in general. -

ShinGetsu replied to Ive_got_the_ships's topic in Cruisers
For cruiser, Henri IV, Zao, Hindenburg I'd say. You can easily outrange them. Moskva can works too but it lacks the HE DPM to compete. Henri have the reload booster that can give a nasty surprise with AP as well. And of course, DM and Worcester themselves. For BBs, République and Yamato. Because you overmatch the 30mm deck armor, unlike Montana. For DD : don't. -
Need to consider that CE changes means an extra 200-300 meters detection range for the russian ships as well. IMO it's a fair compensation.
