Favorite shipgirl (Kancolle,Azur lane, Arpeggio of blue steel,Haifuri)

Then I guess I am an exception. I dropped Spice & Wolf at volume 9. I started to find it very repetitive and I lost interest. Sure it was not bad but at some point I just felt like reading the same thing over and over again with a bit of variation. Sevens is definitely my top pick. It's a fantasy story that starts quite slowly, but some... "mechanics" of this world really were great and I loved it right from the beginning. -

I can give you some title for novel I read online (fantranslated) and I liked. My first recommendation would be Sevens tho. 18 volumes of epicness and hilarity. I can even gives you some in PDF or Epub format. -

The one I did link is SFW. Well, there is a bit of fanservice, but it's a doujin without H or anything like that. It's no more than what is usually in this thread. Still, I readily admit Yua also does NSFW, and quite a lot too. Just not the Fleet Journal I quoted. -

Nah. CV : long-ranged support. So mages. CLT : Close range berserker with axes. All about the f*cking burst ! Subs : Assassins. CAV : half-mage with close-range capabilities (many games have some like that) DDs : standard close-range DPS. BB : tanks. CLs & CAs : multipurposes with weaknesses and strenghts. Could be those DEX scrubs for the CLs or those quality build for the CAs. (Cookie for the reference) Auxiliaries : healers. EDIT : btw, I'm just done reading a kancolle doujin (SFW, no worries) by "Yua (checkmate)" and it's great. Here's the link : http://danbooru.donmai.us/pools/8259 Featuring a very lovable and trollish Hibiki, a starter ship Inazuma going all Berserk (NANODEATH) at the admiral wasting resources, and an Aoba that print the fleet journal with dangerous revelations. Oh, and the admiral trained all of them under spartan boot camp and they're all serial killers in the sea. Especially Shiranui and Kaga (and Sendai is a nutcase). Great read, the action scene are very good and detailed for a doujin, there is a good plotline, and it's a funny read anyway. -

That was MADHOUSE studio you know... one of the current best... Though I admit Overlord wasn't their best. Honestly I dropped the Overlord LN at some point because it was becoming a bit too edgy for my taste. -

Actually, not. In volume 6 or 7 (I don't remember exactly), he get into a huge fit of rage at someone, then the undead status kick him, and revert him immediately into a calm state. That's already scary enough in the eye of the outsider, but since his rage is suppressed, he gets much more dangerous and express it with "actions"... -

Overlord, a powerfantasy ? Oh boy. You can't be more wrong. I admit the first season seemed to go in that direction though. xD But the MC turn literally crazy later. Between his undead status that block emotion, his huge fear of disappointing and losing the trust of his subordinates, and him being trapped in the past of his guild and comrade... It's a dark fantasy through and through, not some power fantasy. Ainz has a really deep character. Also I'm disappointed you didn't even list Levy from Black Lagoon in your last post. Well, there are other well written female character in more recent animes, but Senjougahara Hitagi takes the cake in any case. -
How do I play Taiho Correctly? (Stock for now)
ShinGetsu replied to _Montagne's topic in Aircraft Carriers
First, you don't need Manual AA nor AFT. Get more skill for your planes (the 1 points one, except the one at the top-right which is useless), and get CE instead. CE helps positioning closer to the fleet, which means faster rotations too. You have a dAA consumable already. And only noobs will try to CV snipe. You can deal with them easily as long as you keep an eye to the minimap. Second, how to Taihou... Well, first, get the TB and Fighters, then the 2-3-2 deck, then the DB, and finally the hull. As for the gameplay itself : don't "just" spot or "just" attack ship. You have to do both at the same time, or at least to divide the works efficiently. I am by no mean a great player, but I'm decent enough with CVs to give some trouble to experienced players. Starts by spotting ahead of the main group of your fleet. While you're at it, move your CV behind them, and send fast a fighter into the enemy camp until you spot some ships. Retreat immediately toward your fleet when you see fighters coming. At that point, if you don't see enemy TB and DB after 2-3 minutes, he's probably planning to try and snipe you. It's rare but happens. Deploy your fighters on both end of your CV detection range, and harass enemy ships with your DB (baits or firestarter) and your TB (DDs killers, smoke saturation or get some damage on a big target). Keep an eye on the enemy fighters. One of the hardest part of the job against an experienced player is to spot and to strike enemy DD while preventing enemy fighters to spot yours. You need to provide vision, block strike on your allies, strike enemy DDs. Really, I personally think the core of the CV gameplay is there. Killing enemy DD and protecting allied DD win games. If everything gone smoothly, you should have cleared some enemy fighters, both by baiting them into friendly AA and by straffing and counter-straffing, and most of the enemy DD are dead or can't move agressively. At that point you turn into "farm damage mode" and you clear isolated targets or the most agressives players. As long as you stay far of the concentrated AA zone you should have no problem. Taiho have quite the reserve of TB, but not that much of fighters, so you have to be conservative. However tiers 9 and 10 CV planes are very durable, so you can pretty much attack any target with a concentrated attack of all your TB and DB, as long as there's no DAA involved at least. I usually think dealing with another Taiho is harder than dealing with an Essex. Simply put because since you have the same CV, the difference in skill is very clear if there's one. However, as much as you carry your team with you CV, remember that you can't always carry idiots. You may have the AA superiority, and strikes targets one after another, if your team really sucks and refuses to cap the objective, you'll lose. Well, there are time where your team just roflstomp the enemy while the other CV utterly dominated you, so it balances out in the end. I may have sound presomptuous there, but that's how I conceive IJN CV gameplay generally, and I think I learned a lot by playing Kaga before buying Taihou. At least it works decently for me. EDIT : I can't help you much on Midway. However from what I heard from much better CV player than myself, it is now the strongest tier X CV by far. A good Midway player will eat any Hakuryuu for breakfast. The damage potential of that ship is just over the top, and the fighters are seasoned serial killers. Also for your Shoukaku : you only played her 32 battles man. That's just not big enough a sample to draw conclusion from your winrate. You may have been out of luck for some battles, and your winrate took a huge hit. A winrate really becomes significant with around 150 battles played. -

The Kancolle anime is totally uninteresting if you don't play the game if you ask me. It's only a chain of joke, reference about past event, and trying to get some things (previously only supposed) now canon in the game universe. -

Nah, it's not like the Jukebox. You just have to click it. That costs nothing. There are other furniture like that, it's showed with a fairy and music notes in the shop. -

It's the old phonograph you can see behind Saratoga. I dunno if it's still in the shop however, it was added last September (and I got it) I'll check real fast if it is still possible to get it. You can't set it as the permanent soundtrack however, you have to click the phono again each time the song end. EDIT : yeah, it's still here. For 19450 Coins and a Furniture Fairy. -

Shut up and go back learning History, kiddo. ________________________ As for the News : I loved how WG dodged the question about how USN AP Bombs delete cruisers and just answered the part about the dispersion under DefAA. -

I counter your shameless promotion of a cheap rip-off by using my special summon : (you can even turn the subtitles) -

All tier 10 cruisers are worth playing. Moskva is hard to play. Thinking it can tank as a BB is a common mistake of a beginner with this ship. It can NOT. Or more like, it can tanks only : - if you manage to get hit on your 50mm deck - if you bait shot to your angled belt NEVER bow-tank with Moskva. Never, ever. You have to play passively in the beginning, by sniping at long range. All high-tier cruisers except Mino and DM have to do that. Moskva is fast with a great range and amazing shell arcs : use it. Playing agressively can wait for the second half of the game. Henri is more or less the same, but with a less impressive balistic and workable concealment, and it's damn fast. Once again : use it. Hindenburg is a freaking battlecruiser : tanky as hell, best ship ingame when it comes to brawling, and both HE (thanks to the penetration) and AP hurts a lot and have amazing DPM. Zao plays like every other IJN heavy cruiser, not much to add there. Other than that, tier 8-9 cruisers really are in a bad spot. I'll extend that to tier 7 too, but tier 7 have a good number of cruisers that can perform really well (Myoukou, Atlanta, Shchors). Tier 6 cruisers are all good but suffers due to constant uptier. Overall, the biggest issue is at tier 8-9 : cruiser don't scale very well with the BB they fight at this tier. Most of the tier 8 lacks the range or the concealment, and can't heal. Tier 9 are mostly transition ships to the tier 10. The lack of survivability of ships such as Mogami are really concerning when they are also not that stealthy, and there are 5 BB per side... Also, lack of utility. It's high time WG removes all cruisers consumables on BBs and give both Hydro and DAA to all cruisers starting from tier 5. And heal to t8. And the final nail in the coffin : WG REWORKS THOSE MAPS ALREADY. -_-'
-
I didn't say Mogami was unplayable. I said "near". It just need a skilled player, and a careful playstyle. Also IFHE on Moskva is a waste of 4 points. Wasting fire chance and 4 points only to penetrate 3 ships isn't worth it at all. Especially with those AP.

Expert Loader ?

Mogami needs it. I mean, Mogami is already near unplayable even with IFHE thanks to the horrible gun range. You have to play as dirty as possible, using islands, ambushing, catching DDs at close range... because Mogami can and will get deleted by any BB looking funny at it. It's a hard ship to play. Atlanta is actually easier. So you need IFHE to get those sweet 9-10k salvoes on them. At least you'll also be a threat for them. And don't mount the 203mm on Mogami...
-
DWT torp for CV is an horrible idea. In the first place, CV attacks DD for two main reasons : - Nowadays they can't attack anything else. - Killing DDs win games. I really disapprove of the spotting of torp removed and the inability to cross drop. That's just lowering the skill floor. Knowing how to position your fighters/spotters in order to spot incoming enemy torp is part of the gameplay of the CV, and it's even teamplay, so no suppressing that, please ! Starts by nerfing every other AA. CV would be able to attack larger targets, and not be forced to only focus on DDs. THEN gives all DDs lower Air detection range or something, and gives them a single-use a panic-plane DFAA maybe. But nothing else. They would be able to dodge the incoming fire in case of emergency. But spotting DDs is also part of the job of the CVs. Also, I'll add a maybe : make US DB hit DD less hard. DB are very RNG and I think seeing a CV nuking a DD with a lucky DB drop isn't very nice. On the other hand nuking a DD with a good cross-drop (or even a single TB squad) is much harder and requires some skill in dropping at least. But the biggest issue before all that, is the AA of most ships that won't allows CV to attack anything except DDs.

Discussion thread for "some interesting info around the world"
ShinGetsu replied to Deamon93's topic in General Discussion
What I don't like about KM BB is that you rely on automatic gun controlled by AI because the guns are so unreliable. That means they normalize the skill when it comes to aiming and choosing the right target. I really don't like it. You are entirely right about the positioning of brawler BBs being difficult, but on the other hand they are one-trick pony. I really dislike this. It's just that it is a gameplay much more reliant on RNG, and I believe most good player, you included, don't like relying on RNG at all. Same reason why I think IFHE was a good addition even if it is too powerful on some ship : having to rely on the RNG of the fire chance to do any decent damage was boring with very little skill involved, and made game very unbalanced between those with 15 fires and those with 2 immediately stopped. While spamming the target with a good cover and aiming at the part you can penetrate specifically is much more interesting. -
ShinGetsu replied to Hopelight33's topic in Expérience de jeu
T'as juste moins de réserve. -
Nürnberg (and I think Königsberg too) can ignore IFHE, because all german cruisers get a 1/4 caliber rule for the HE penetration instead of 1/6. That's the only exception I can think of. Any other light cruisers (except British as you said) with guns ranging from 150 to 180mm benefits a LOT from IFHE. The few fire chance you lose is largely outweighted by the raw damage your HE does. Also there's Henri IV that goes over 50mm HE penetration with IFHE, which is also interesting though with less benefits than all those gun going over 32mm.
