Be funny is one of them is just the English flag so people can pretend their ships are RN -

This sounds excellent - glad to see we're not competing against each other and instead get rewarded as per our dedication - more time spent = more good stuff. Having the unreleased premiums would be pretty cool, hoping they have the kitakami (probably won't but a man can dream). Even if I just get some extra credits it's all good -
How the weekend doubles chanced the game for two days
Xevious_Red replied to LeonardoBlue's topic in General Discussion
I'd like to see more events like this even if I did get a run of the duffers - someone has to win, so 50% of the time someone is making extra xp and money. It's not like I lose any thing more for a loss, so it's a net gain for the community. In addition the payer numbers seemed nice and high, which is always good for the game, and some of those returning players might well buy some gold etc etc- 26 replies

How the weekend doubles chanced the game for two days
Xevious_Red replied to LeonardoBlue's topic in General Discussion
This weekend (for me) saw some of the worst play possible, not only not attempting to win but in many cases actively avoiding it. On Sunday my first game had all of our cruisers start a fight with each other. End result was 4 team kills with 3 players turning pink. Next two games we were winning by capping. Only to have the person who'd been patiently sat in cap for 98% of the capture to leave for no reason (not under fire etc etc). I was genuinely amazed by how bad people were - I was expecting some bots and AFK as people tried to get carried to victory, but this was just amazingly terrible, it was like they were trying their hardest to NOT win- 26 replies

From the look if it, it mentions bartering for the prizes in the event store. So kind of like eBay where the prize goes to the highest bidder? (In this case bidding with "diamonds"). Which means any physical prizes and premium ships will go to the people that can put the most time in - depends then on how many premium ships are available. Hopefully there'll be some lower prizes/ships that can just be bought with diamonds instead of needing to barter -
Personally I don't mind - a +1/-1 or even +/-0 MM benefits skilled players more than bad ones. If there's no tier difference then only skill matters (which obviously skilled players have). While bad players have the benefit of not being immediately killed by things +2 they also have nothing to pick on either.
-
Sadly if you removed the +2 tiers you'd get a lot more crying from bad players. For a large number of people it seems the only way they can kill something is by being 2 tiers higher than it. Being 2 tiers lower is more a problem for CV/BB, whereas CA and DD it doesn't matter so much
-
It's OK, just been ranted at and reported...... for winning. By our own team member. Myself (destroyer) and some cruisers pushed through their team and ended up taking enemy Base. About 10 secs from us winning (enemy won't make it back in range in time), myogi starts ranting that we're all idiots, and instead should have been supporting him "because he's the highest tier BB"
-
Something worth remembering is that a lot of the ships the Kongo faces are very squishy and easily over pen if you're using AP and don't hit the citadel. If you're having trouble citadelling things with regularity, then use AP against the more armoured targets like st Louis and other BB since they have enough armour to trigger the fuses. Against squishy stuff using HE does a lot of damage - not as much as a good citadel so don't expect to be deleting them but it does give you a good solid damage. Also you break a ton of modules which is always funny.

Someone forgot to adjust 'Situational Awareness' in 0.5.5

Popping smoke before you're spotted still works, and you can happily shoot from it. Popping smoke after being spotted seems to be what's affected -
Donate wg today so they can fix the MM already.

The irony is that the same screenshot could be used by the enemy team "not fair, they have 2 destroyers while we have none in domination - doesn't matter that some of our ships are higher tier, higher tier isn't a replacement for destroyers in domination games" -
Okey seriously im pink after 1 accident

For me, if you have enough awareness and knowledge to be able to immediately know/predict: That your torps will reach the enemy (not moving away, have enough range), That your torps will actually be of benefit (enemy not about to die to someone else) That your torps aren't going to hit a friendly going in a roughly straight line That your torps aren't going to force a friendly into a terrible position (forced to expose broadside etc) That the friendly isn't likely to do a 180 (destroyers with torp launchers on both sides are VERY likely to do a 180) Then you can probably torp from the second line. If however you can't accurately work out the above straight away, or you don't have enough knowledge of ships/classes to be able to predict how they'll behave then DON'T torp from the second line - you're just a burden and a hazard to your team -
I'm aware that seeding is uploading. But before you dismiss it, actually try it. With the seeding box ticked, your download speed gets throttled. As soon as you untick it, it goes to what it should be. I can literally toggle my download speed between 300kbps and 5Mbps by ticking and unticking the seeding box.

turn off seeding from the settings. My download speed went from 100-300kbps to 4.5 - 5.5mbps

What happens if you take the tier 8 equipment TAS that adds to your render range, or is that capped too?

As a heads up mine went to my junk folder (even though the normal WG emails go to my inbox). The email is only a link to www.worldofwarships.eu/en/userbonus You can redeem the bonus without the email if you're logged in and due the bonus

It's outside of their control, mostly because it starts at a random time, and lasts a random duration (if it happens at all). However no one particular class benefits or gets penalised more than another, they all gain something and all lose something. For people that can deal with change its perfectly fine - they just swap up their game play ("hey I was shooting at something 20km away, now bad weather has happened, I'll go support the cap since no one has me spotted") For people that can't ("I only shoot at things 20km away, now I can't see them") There will probably be teeth gnashing because they can't adapt

You could always just have a glimpse of a shark occasionally under the water, with them more noticeable on the "warmer" maps where the sea is clearer

[Update]Radar & Sonar GUI-Bug(most likely)

Does it still happen without a captain in the ship/without equipment? Wondering if it's tied to the vigilance skill or the TAS -
Installing WoWs program is an impertinence
Xevious_Red replied to Grandma's topic in General Discussion
You're going to love then that the patch due tomorrow compiles all the files, and is due to take a long time. To the point where the recommended course of action is to uninstall and re-install the 9gb -
The match making is a crutch for bad players. It means there's frequently someone 2 tiers lower that they might actually stand a chance of killing. So some games bad player A gets to feel good by killing a st Louis in his Kongo. Other games bad player B gets to feel good by using his colorado to kill bad player A's kongo. If there was no +/-2 tiers, then good players would actually do better (since all the ships are equal, so skill is the only descider), while bad players would do worse (since they'd never have anyone weaker to prey upon).

Some interesting info around the world
Xevious_Red replied to Takeda92's topic in General Discussion
Problem you have then is; If you put a bad player as the bottom tier ship they're less likely to balls up the outcome and thus more likely to win. However, putting them at the bottom makes them feel victimised, so they stop playing because "unfair MM". Putting them as the top tier will actually make them lose more (since they're in command of a more important ship), but makes them feel like they're getting a better deal (since they might actually now kill something) -
Should premium ships be banned once and for all from competitive modes?
Xevious_Red replied to OVanBruce's topic in Archive
I think there are a few other factors rather than just premium ships = better. The first is that some people for team/ranked simply haven't unlocked any tier 8 ships. There's lots of people who own a tirpitz/atago but are only up to tier 6 with their silver ships. I know when I played ranked and it swapped to tier 8 I used the tirpitz. Because it was the only tier 8 ship I had. Secondly, on the other end of the scale, people may no longer have a tier 8 ship. If you're at the point where you only own tier X, a tier 8 premium for credits, and a few tier 5's to doss about in, and you're required to use tier 8, are you going to use the one you already have, or are you going to buy a new port slot, rebuy a tier 8 and all the modules and equipment needed for it? Captain skills - unless you happen to have a ship of the appropriate tier (in this case 8), with an already trained captain then even if you do choose the option of rebuying a silver tier 8 and all the modules, you then have the choice of no skill captain (bad idea), or reskilling an existing one. So that's 500gold to put him in the ship, and probably 500gold when he needs to go back to whichever ship he came from. -
No CBT stats under profile, so probably a different server

Actually you can have all sorts of exciting issues even if you have a reasonable computer and a stable connection. I usually load in around the end of the timer. Sometimes however it loads me in 45 sec late. Once it didn't bother loading me at all, I could just see the match progressing on the deployment map. I restarted the client and it loaded me in straight away but I missed 10 mins of that one.
