Let's talk about Battleships and their current state right now in the game.

Well if it's an alt account then that's some dedication, since it also has 2800~ games

    Minimap size problem.

On a similar note, it would be nice to have an option to make the map semi transparent - I have the map quite large and this blocks a reasonable portion of my view. Although there are mods, this should be in the vanilla game.

Let's talk about Battleships and their current state right now in the game.

My only 2 issues right now with battleships are their inconsistency and the how the RNG interacts with other classes. So battleships on average do lots of damage. This is fine. However what I tend to find is that instead of behaving roughly the same each game, you instead get some games where you do huge damage, and get multiple citadels without really trying, and others where everything misses no matter how perfect the shot is. If for example I'm going to have 70k average damage, I'd rather that was because I do ~70k each game rather than one game where I do 120k and another where I do 20k. This is mostly due to the dispersion that can really troll you (or sometimes give you damage you shouldn't have got - see second point). The second point is that the RNG for dispersion can give some really annoying shots for other classes - you see a BB salvo coming, you dodge it..... only to get hit by the stray shell that didn't stay with the group. I always feel guilty if I score a citadel this way - I've aimed where I think I should, they've avoided it so I don't deserve anything, but the game just grants me a random citadel hit. So I'd like to see BB become more consistent, even if this means a reduction of their alpha damage

    Carriers manual drop

I don't usually have a problem with TB and I'm primarily a BB/ cruiser player. In low to mid tiers you can turn to avoid drops - changing speed can easily throw off a drop (like slamming on the brakes). Of course you need to be familiar enough with CV to recognise the attack run and know that it's locked in. If they have 2 sets, set AA focused on one, and turn against the other. It's only IJN and saipan that have multiple sets, and they're 3 or 4 planes. If you can kill 2 of them you can dodge one drop while drastically reducing the other (resulting in 0-2 hits). Higher tiers the planes are faster so can nip around the sides more, so for that you need some support from a friendly cruiser, but at low/mid you can avoid them on your own. Luckily at tier 6 just when you start needing support, all the cruisers gain DF which can nicely mess up a drop. The ONLY BB I think "oh damn" if I see a CV is the ishizuchi, and only then if it's the hosho, simply because the AA does nothing (usually no planes killed), it turns like a brick, the turning circle is large and it has virtually no torp protection so everything does massive damage. Even the ark beta is better since it has a tight turning circle and torp protection

Torpedo soup - why it exist and what can be done

To add to the bb are actually supposed to be short range: I'd agree, they're much more deadly up close. The long range is so that while you're headed to A in support of your cruisers ( who in turn are supporting the dd ) and no enemy have turned up at A, you can be shelling people at C When interesting things show up at A you can obliterate them, and then go back to shelling people at C while your little flotilla heads towards B

I'll have a few more tests. Reason it flagged up for me is I've never had an issue brewing up a NM before with 130mm HE so found it rather funny that I could repeatably do no damage (I got myself to a safe distance, and since the game was in hand decided to see how many no damage hits it would rack up)
  7. To add to havaduck's points: I have premium time. I've also completed the 2500/2750 xp. I would consider myself average to slightly above (1k games played, grinding all trees, average ships in dock tier 6/7, 58% wr). However I haven't had 2500 Base xp. So for me the only reason I have them completed is because of the premium. The 500 mission I could complete by getting all 4 tier 1's and pressing battle before quitting back to port. Repeat 9 times and that's 40 battles done in a day. Now I'm not going to do it, but I'm sure there's plenty who already are.
  8. Given that one of this week's missions is worth 40 diamonds (where all of week one's were 20), there's a reasonable chance that later weekly missions might give more (and presumably be harder). So it may (note "may") be possible for people to get 1k diamonds without needing 500 games etc

    Quo vadis, World of Warships?

A couple of other points: The bots were raised in their ability, supposedly too much, so this is being lowered in tomorrow's (?) Patch. Random games you'll always have a level of wtf are people doing. However for every "wtf is he doing, stay in cap you idiot....gah we lose because of that!" You also get "omg he crashed his cruiser into that island! Shoot, shoot, everyone shoot!". So you can take the good with the bad. For full on my team is made of people who are awesome vs another team of awesome - that's what clan wars will be for, if and when they ever get around to.adding it

    Quo vadis, World of Warships?

Since the OP has a 60% WR in pvp after 600 games, I don't think it's because he can't beat the bots. Personally, I'm having a blast, and I enjoy playing all classes. While It's not particularly realistic, I like that each class has an equal chance - while I like Battleships, I don't think that I should rule superior over other classes simply because of what I chose, especially since there aren't any requirements to own a battleships beyond choosing to spend the xp on a battleship instead of a cruiser. The game is much better when playing with a buddy though - with 2 of you you can overcome most sitautions

Grand Naval Battles - Opened Treasures

Agreed - I deliberately don't check it on my phone in case of this
  12. If it does have a 3k xp (and then a 3250!) It should be do-able for those with premium (2k and 2167 base respectively). For those without premium that's a hard carry to achieve
  13. I'm hoping it stacks. Although that does mean next week's is likely to be play 30 games in a DD, and the week after play 40 in a cruiser. Not looking forward to the potential kill 30 as tier 7 and kill 40 as tier 8 either if it follows this pattern

I've been having the same issue with low caliber HE - lots of hits to superstructure for zero damage (although they can still start fires). With higher caliber HE (203mm) no issues, but my "record" was 60 hits to the superstructure of a new Mexico using the gremmy's 130mm for zero damage. Since the NM wasn't in any way dodging it wasn't hard to choose exactly where I hit. Swapping to AP they went through the superstructure and did damage, but the HE didn't.

    1st Game matchmaking

I don't mind doing being -2 too much. What I dislike is when there is no one else -2 as well. A game where there's 4 tier 8, 4 tier 7 and 4 tier 6 per side, and I'm one of the tier 6 is fine. A game where it's 11 tier 8 and one tier 6 per side and I'm the tier 6 is less fun. Especially if I'm a carrier.

    Brawler Credit Farmer

The tier 4 premiums aren't really useful for credits, they're more for captain retraining. The tier 5 are quite good for credits since the repairs are really low vs the money earnt. The tier 8 premiums are the biggest money earner, and the tirpitz is brawly but if you're not comfortable with tier 8 play then you won't do very well. The pensacola isn't a brawler at all and the aoba is better at kiting than brawling. The warspite is nice for brawling but there's a bit of a love hate relationship with that ship, you'll either think she's the best thing ever or hate her with a passion

    ATLANTA CRUISER

Essentially if you want to do well with the Atlanta then forget what you know about cruisers (it doesn't play like one), and forget about DD too (doesn't play like one either). An Atlanta in open water is a dead Atlanta, so you need to find cover, and fast. Similarly don't expect to sneak up on anyone since you're spotted at 11km. If you have a captain with AFT that would be very useful (I see you have a Cleveland captain - use him). What the Atlanta does do well is in "owning" an area of islands - any destroyers trying to hide there get rapid fired to death, and anyone larger approaching gets shots raining over the islands. Your AA also prevents planes being in your area. Good example of where the Atlanta does well: the C cap on hotspot

Newbie Player - Best place to start

Only thing I'd say against the US cruiser line is that it's a little like the french light line on WoT, namely that the ships at low tiers aren't really like the ships at high tiers The low tier ships jump around from the slow protected st Louis, to the torp armed phoenix and omaha before setting down into their heavy cruiser with decent AA around tier 7. Personally, play lots of different lines early on - it's easy enough to get to tier 4/5, so try lots and see what takes your fancy. Destroyers/battleships take a bit more knowledge because they're either very low hp or slow to respond but that shouldn't stop you trying them
  19. Xevious_Red

Grat Naval Battles - ship requirements question

It's 2500 in one game, using any ship or tier However, it only counts Base xp and the extra 50% for premium account. So first win bonus, the extra 30% or 50% from premium ships etc etc don't count towards it
  20. Xevious_Red

    bogue is big joke :D

The Langley 's DB are the smallest ones available. Since the ship has virtually no reserves I'd actually prefer to have a larger reserve of fighters/TB instead of a unit of DB. Bogue can have both fighters and TB - the stock load out is this. Also check the torp bombers the Bogue uses, they're tier 6 TB's. They're resilient as anything, and can happily fly around in most flak

Something wrong about Grand Naval Battles currency

It's unknown if the weekly missions will reset (like the R missions), or if they'll have new ones each week
  22. Well I've had 17 battles and 14 wins so it's not all bad all round. Personally I used the murmansk and gremmy for some of it, so I've been guilty of using premiums, but that's mostly because I have no regular tier 5 ships in port and I'm not going to rebuy one just to sink 10 ships

IJN Katori : who has played it ? impressions ?

it's the slow that bothers me. At least something fast can cap/spot/go on a suicide torp run. Something slow is tedious trudging along
  24. Xevious_Red

    Leaked info

Since they're adding in coastal defences which is likely for a PVE mode, it wouldn't suprise me if they also added non playable subs that are docked on the surface and need to be destroyed as part of the mission.

IJN Katori : who has played it ? impressions ?

This was the ship I was aiming for as I already have the tacibana and Albany. Guess I'll aim for the smith instead. I don't mind "bad" ships (I have yubari, sims and atlanta) but I draw the line at terribad ships, particularly really slow.ones
