Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Xevious_Red replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Met ictogan in his Kiev. Much laughs were had when my team started ranting to report him for aim bot. Met T_H_O_R in ranked. His team melted and left him playing hide and seek with 6 of ours. Luckily he got top of losing so no star loss Saw Dropsiq in ranked in an indianapolis. Warned team about him being quite good. Managed to kill him myself (although some nice angling from him) -
Big ranked battles compilation thread so we dont have multiple other threads discussing the same thing.

Because when you get the last star of rank 2 you are rank one, an that can't be reduced (and you get all the prizes etc). However for those that like competitive 7v7 they can continue playing using tier X only -

I'm enjoying it so far. Lost a few games but only 2 of them have actually lost me a star. It plays very different to normal games, you have to pay a lot more attention to the map/caps and you can't leave something for other people to do. Which means having to go into caps with battleships and cruisers and not running away to the edge of the map. The few where I've had idiot teams it's been super easy to get top (just simply do something useful, that'll do it) so you at least don't lose a star. -
There's two types of planes: Fighter planes and spotter planes. Fighter planes just circle overhead and attack other planes. Spotter planes increase your range and change the view to higher view point. Most cruisers have fighters, most battleships have spotters

Not true - first battle with entirely stock ryujo with captain in retraining gave me a tier 8 game with me (and enemy cv) as the only ships not tier 8

I'm just amazed at the people who turn up with either an obviously completely untrained captain, no camouflage or no detonation flag -

Realistically: Don't get your hopes up. Some people just press battle as many times as possible and hope to be carried, figuring that they might get "lucky" and win more than they lose. These are the people that tell you with a straight face that win rate is all down to luck. Then you get the armchair admirals that THINK they're amazing and clearly deserve rank 1, which are the first to shout noob team even though it's them that are causing the loss but are so self absorbed they can't accept that. Then you get the elite pros that think 60% wr = win every game and never lose any of them. Expect butt hurt and blame for daring to be on their team. Especially if they're used to being in a division and farming damage. Mixed in with that is some vaguely normal people that will try to act as a team. -
For the public test: Use gold, that's why they give you 30k. Also.feel free to experiment with different skills and re-spec to try different things. For the live game: Depends how much you like having him in retraining. I'd probably do it for silver for some and gold for others.

One thing I like about the new camera is it takes advantage of all the shell camera/following planes etc that look really cool but you never used in game because you were too busy actually playing
-
Really enjoyed the camera. Realised I'd been whizzing around following planes and swooping over islands for 10 minutes

OK that's not bad, opens up secondary builds for other high tier BB other than izumo/yamato. Means a nerf for nagato and warspite since they were secondary heavy and can't take that module
-
it would be odd "We want to encourage auxiliary weapons, so to do so we've added a tiny barely noticeable buff to all the ships that weren't using them and still won't, and added a decent sized nerf to the few that do"
-
Would be interested to know which are the "correct" values. Did they write the patch notes but the PT is using older adjustments that aren't as good? Did they decide at the last minute that the new equipment is too good and to tone it down from what it was going to be? Or just that one person wrote the patch notes and a different person wrote the code?
-
Agreed, you'd be better off removing all equipment and giving a refund in silver of it. I quite like the idea of the new acceleration one for some of my DD. But they currently have the turning mod. So my choices are lose a ton of silver selling or destroying the existing, or lose a ton of gold demounting everything. OR not bother using the new stuff. Random extra thought: Is there any reason why as you go up the tiers you get box 1, then 4, then 2, then 5, then 6, then 3? Why don't they just add an extra box on the end instead of tucking them in the middle. Now seems like a sensible time to make this more uniform
-
So the plan to encourage using secondaries involves nerfing them? My warspite just took a knock then, losing 1km off its secondaries
-
I always try to brawl with mid tier US BB. However I found that if they're bottom/mid tier then without it they simply don't get in range a lot. The slow speed means that anyone that wants to just simply kites them. I've had games where I've gone at full speed directly towards the enemy and they've simply ran away. The only thing allowing me to shoot was the added range - they didn't want to come and play! The accuracy is terribad at long range, but I'd rather have a chance at a hit than not be able to fire at all. Given that the other choice ATM is extra AA range, which in some games is literally useless, and in others doesn't matter since carriers avoid you anyway
-
The mid tier US BB (5,6,7) will take the extra range simy because they have a really short range otherwise. IJN cruisers that are already pretty accurate (and frequently use HE so are only aiming for a rough area anyway), use their torps defensively and don't really use secondaries/AA would be more tempted by faster turning turrets since a 15 sec reload would now only be 15.75 in return for +15% rotation. I would however agree that the penalty seems fairly redundant - just make all the choices equally good as you'll get a mix of who takes what.

Some interesting info around the world
Xevious_Red replied to Takeda92's topic in General Discussion
it's also interesting because while the AA module got boosted (now +25% instead of +20%) it will compete with -16% dispersion, which might be enough to tempt people away from full AA builds on US BB -
Will have to see if it's available to the warspite since not all ships have access to all equipment. But I hope so
-
Warspite would like it. Also from the opposite side of the coin, ships that take extra range like mid tier American BB now get better secondaries. Will have to see what the other choices are
-
Well the obvious bots are obvious. Go to any stat site. Find the people that played 150 battles in a day (at approx 10 mins per battle that's 24 hour gaming) and the day before, and the day before etc etc. Now someone might be able to go on a gaming marathon and play it straight for 24 hours. There may even be someone who is mad and managed a 48 hour gaming session. But no actual human can play for 24 hours straight for a month
-
Brian is playing his midway. 2 players report him because carriers are dumb and he should play a real ship. 1 player reports him although he killed all the torp bombers except 1 this player didn't bother dodging the remaining torp. This is clearly Brian's fault. Brian kills a ship. This angers someone because they'd decided they wanted to kill it. Their entire division reports Brian because they can. That's 3 more reports. Brian is the last alive. The person that died first reports him because he should have sailed at full speed into the centre of the map. Etc etc I'm all for getting rid of bots but the amount of reports you can rack up from complete idiots is huge. Especially if they know it will get you banned

Actually a way of testing that theory atomskytten would be to get a good player that has no massive peaks/dips in their performance. Then get that player to play on someone else's account who has very poor performance. If the dispersion is the same, then the good player should be able to achieve the same as he does on his own account (obviously +/- a bit). If the noob account is given a buff to dispersion then the good player should be able to clock up some monster games. So to test: Convince wife/gf/child/next door old lady to make account. Get them to play about 200 games enough to ruin the WR. Then play a few games on their account and compare to your account

They changed it (finally) in WoT so it's now reduced xp if the platoon is not sensible. This doesn't stop people trolling though. What I'd like to see is either; You can't make a division if the ships are different tier. Even +1 still means you can get a kawachii into a tier 6 game to face off against fuso, so limit it to same tier. Or; Let people make whatever divisions they like, but prevent them playing random unless they're the same tier. This way they can show off their yamato to their mate who's just started in co-op Edit: I had them in half my games yesterday - karlsruhe in tier 9, clemson in tier 8, kawachii in tier 6, chikuma in tier 7, Atlanta in tier 10, St Louis in tier 8...... Needless to say they were all utterly useless in every game (the karlsruhe even tried escorting the CV for AA) with each of them simply feeding the enemy team

The problem with "do you notice" is that you will always get confirmation bias. You can try it at home - buy a bottle of vodka, pour it into two glasses. Tell your friends that the first glass is a cheap vodka, and that the second is a top brand. Most people will tell you the first glass tastes worse despite it being identical because it's what they're expecting. If you asked them if they noticed that German tanks get a higher chance of being the top tier vehicle after 4pm on a Monday they would probably also confirm that this is the case. Same with if you thought artillery were more accurate on a wednesday. The problem with looking for patterns where there aren't any means you can invent conclusions that are false. I have a friend that I play a lot of dice based games with. He's convinced that he gets better results on the blue dice if he rolls the red dice first. This is clearly nonsense since dice are not affected by each other but he'll roll the red one first every time. He'll also point out with "see, see?" If the blue one happens to roll a 6 Now there may be a secret formula
