Where are the complaints from cruisers?
Xevious_Red replied to Syrchalis's topic in General Discussion
Generally cruisers appeal to people that want a Jack of all trades, and know they can do anything, but will always have weaknesses. Battleships have plenty of decent players, but they also attract the kind of people that think biggest guns + best armour + most HP = easy stomp mode. They think that BB should be invulnerable and then cry when they aren't. These types of people always pick rocket launchers in FPS games, heavy tank in WoT etc. Same goes for DD - plenty of good players, but also attracts the #ninja crowd that think they can always remain unseen and pick off anyone they like without realising it actually requires effort and skill. These type always pick snipers in FPS games and cry when someone shoots them -

Decent numbers. There's a newbie protection so absolute new beginners don't get totally clubbed. They only play against other total beginners, so how many players there are depends how many new starters there are. When you play enough games then you'll join the general population, and the games will be 12v12 -
-Average players couldn't get it. Our favourite forum spammer has pretty normal average stats. 800 ish ranked games later and he ended up at rank 10. The only people that managed to get to rank 1 not only once but several times are people who are capable of maintaining 55%+ WR. These people aren't average they're good. -The complaint now doesn't seem to be about a single flint, but is now about a division of 3 good players working together. How is this different from 3 good players in 2x mahan and an Atlanta? -In most people's view the Atlanta is garbage. It's frequently the most complained about ship for being crap. The flint is basically the Atlanta with smoke. -If the division of 3 decide to make some bunker of doom with overlapping smoke c/d and permanent hydro to avoid torps, just ignore it and go elsewhere. Their max range is 13.3km so if they want to sit in the middle of B, go capture A and C instead. Tier 7 maps are big enough for this.

With the bud you can kite other ships. You (generally) have longer range than them, so head towards them (unspotted), get into range, turn so you're now moving away from them (still unspotted) and start firing. If you keep yourself always above your spotting distance then you can disappear by simply stopping firing (presuming there's nothing else nearby)

I would have thought almost all CV would have taken SA anyway since it very useful for carriers for the very reason you said

Perhaps it's a teaser for their next game. He went on to do under siege 2, so maybe we'll be getting........ World of trains.- 111 replies

I find battleships the hardest to carry a bad team in. Since they're not hugely fast, nor are they really capable of going invisible they struggle to cap on their own (since any hits on them resets the cap). If the rest of your team decides to avoid the caps like the plague, BB can struggle to stem the tide in a domimation game. Conversely in standard battles they're pretty damn good at stopping the enemy in their tracks as long gone as they don't get so far away from base that they can't make it back.

Agreed with own queue part - I really enjoyed the assault mode, easy enough that you could blow off steam without getting good stressed, but hard enough to not make it a cakewalk. I wouldn't however want to play "normal" PVE since that's as dull as dishwater and no challenge at all

Glad it works for you. There won't be any more wipes, the last one was a year ago so for all intents and purposes the game is "finalised" (doesn't mean there wont be changes and tweaks and new stuff, but there won't be account wipes). Recommendation for you is to try everything up to tier 5. You learn a lot from trying the different classes, as well as how to kill them/avoid dying to them. Also the different nations play quite differently so just because you don't get on with cruisers from one nation doesn't mean you won't like cruisers from another. -
In WoWs your guns track with the target, so unless you're sat still the guns will probably always be turning slightly. The idea was to give a bonus if you hadn't needed to move the reticle (I. E. Move the mouse) - the only time this happens is if the target is sat completely still, or they're travelling in such a straight line you don't need to adjust the lead at all. I wouldn't want it to be a bonus if the actual guns didn't move; that would lead to stale camping with people being penalised for actually moving.
-
Sort of. In WoT the dispersion was a penalty for moving the turret, I was thinking it as a bonus if it's held still. They used the WoT dotted circle in steel ocean, and TBH it looked a complete mess - 7 overlapping dotted circles made it look like you'd sneezed at the enemy ship. I was thinking the reticle could remain looking the same but maybe "ping" when the bonus is available
-
Something I was thinking that would improve the game was if ships gained an accuracy boost if they held the aim point still for a certain amount of time (let's say 5 seconds). If they move the reticle the bonus is lost. This way it's only really usable against AFK, people sat still, and people sailing in straight lines. I don't think BB should be made more accurate against active players, that would make them OP, but on the other hand it's pretty silly when you can't hit something that's sat still. Bonus would apply to all classes, so it would be effective against BB that decide to become bow on islands.

The Atlanta is made of paper and the Iowa has very large guns that will over pen it if it's flat on. I also believe you can overpen citadels but not 100% on this so take it with a pinch of salt. Things you can do though: -Fire when they're slightly angled; more armour to trigger the fuses so less over pens. -Fire BELOW the waterline. Shells go through the water which acts the same as the armour, triggering the fuses. -Shoot with HE. You can citadel with HE, the thin armour of the Atlanta means it takes a ton of damage, and a good chance of wrecking a bunch of modules. Also you set him on fire which is funny.

You also have a modifier for each ship so capping a base in a fuso gives different XP to capping a base in the new mexico. Some ships have very high modifiers - the sims for example earns boat loads of XP for not a lot, which seems to be WG way of balancing them, instead of making them perform as well they're instead compensated by having very high XP earnings.

No gold unification forthcoming -- its official
Xevious_Red replied to Babykim's topic in General Discussion
The gold is annoying, the free XP is actually probably a good thing though: WoWs earns more XP, and thus more free XP. How many WoT players do you think would make a bot account on ships to earn them free XP without it affecting their WoT stats? -
It's different to the Nagato - the nagato is usually quite brawly, while the amagi is more ranged (has very good grouping). The amagi is much more like the Kongo mixed with the fuso, in that it's fast, accurate but not particularly (for a BB) armoured.

German Battleships appreciation thread, or how the meta is changing for better
Xevious_Red replied to viceadmiral123's topic in General Discussion
I'm hoping so too - previously it was only tirpitz that liked brawling at high tiers, and usually they couldn't because of being unsupported. Now if there's several brawling BB they're more likely to be aggressive. Throw in some RN CL to cover them in smoke/deter DD and it's looking interesting and less like a 20km dice rolling event -
After 4 games in the tier 3 where my team spawned on the south deployment and managed to sail directly east along the blue line until they hit the border, and then directly north until they all managed to squeeze into the top right corner of the map, I free xp'd the rest of it. Being the only person on the team that even seems vaguely aware the 3 capture areas are important wasn't that much fun. The tier 4 however is lots of fun and people actually go to caps

[Gamescom-news] World of Warships - The "Lootbox"
Xevious_Red replied to Morgan_Gorgoroth's topic in General Discussion
Battlefield 4 had that too, the boxes had camos, different dog tags and knives, emblems etc. Basically all stuff to customise without giving you any advantage. Then there were XP boosters. One thing they did do that might be popular with WG is that if you had a premium account you got a gold box every month. This might help them sell more premium time, and as long as the rewards aren't OTT then it would be ok -
I'd love conditions that affect the ship. However the moaning and teeth gnashing would be huge - imagine all the BB players that can't aim at the best of times suddenly having to compensate for sea movement
-
Yet strangely the OP has a higher average damage in it that he does in nagato/amagi/izumo/tirpitz. So it can't be that bad. I suspect you thought you would sail around mercilessly slaying cruisers and DD while laughing as they do nothing back to you, and have instead encountered the players that vaguely are aware of what's going on and aren't just going to sit around waiting to die. Since they have guns too they'll make you work for it, and can outplay you and kill you instead. But that would explain your other thread where you complain about HE being OP.

You can stealth torp anyway in lots of situations - if they're coming towards you then you can fire from further away. Means you can swing in front of them at around 13km (undetected) and launch 4 sets of torps. In the time it takes your torps to travel 10km they travel the remaining 3km to meet them. Bonus points for: -Getting back out to 13km before firing so they think they're torp safe because 13>10 -Setting them on fire twice causing them to use repair right before the torps hit. -Sailing in a straight line away from them firing AP from your rear turrets (remember to jink as they fire); your shots bounce off them and they get all excited about the fact they're going to kill "noob atago", forget to steer and eat almost all the torps. Did this once against a Yamatos who started raging about unseen DD

Personally the Atago - own both and I really don't get on with the Tirpitz - been trolled far too many times by its guns deciding to do nothing against a mid range target that's broadside on and not moving. With the Atago you don't get the big devastating strikes but you can put out a steady stream of consistent damage. The other problem I have with the tirpitz is its very good at brawling. That's it's ideal. Unfortunately frequently both teams want the engagement to happen at 20km leaving you the choice between staying with them (resulting in mostly misses due to accuracy), or trying to close the gap on your own (results in death). The times the team does want to come with you it can be glorious. But frequently they don't. With more German BB now there might be more people looking to brawl so it might be a bit better. So for me it's the Atago - sneaky enough to play as a big destroyer, accurate guns with very high fire chance, and can heal. Plus if everything goes pear shaped, stop firing and run away while healing/launching torps. 20 secs later and you're invisible again

gamescom, one more sign of how WG does not respect players
Xevious_Red replied to 313Fra's topic in General Discussion
I don't have a huge issue - it's about as annoying as bots/really bad players/people that bought a tier 8 premium straight away. However I question how wise it is to show off your game by putting people in a high tier match where they then get cursed at for 15 mins. A co-op battle with lots of explosions and sinking sounds more exciting than being sunk straight away while 12 people tell you you're useless and should uninstall -
Tell that to my SU -100y (tier 6) that's constantly in tier 8 battles. In WoT, some premium tanks have +1MM but they're usually ones that aren't very good for whatever reason - like the Churchill III that's a slow tier 5 with a tier 4 gun. Apart from CV (they suffer from the extra AA), what ship can't do anything if it ends up bottom tier under current match making? I ask because I've killed Yamatos with atagos, hunted shimakazes with new orleans etc
