How to report hackers outside of game or post-limit reach?
Xevious_Red replied to Hades_warrior's topic in Archive
Battlefield isn't server side. Literally Google it and you'll find a bunch of pages where people complain about it not being server side. Regarding the destroyers hitting you with torps @15km ~tier 6, entirely possible. Mutsuki has 10km torps. These travel at around ~60kn. So in the time it takes these to reach their full distance (10km), a ship travelling half that speed (30kn) will cover half that distance (5km). Therefore if he fires when you're 15km away he can hit you since you close 5km of that gap as the torps reach their 10km. If you use slower torps and a faster ship then the distance can be even bigger -
The "Birthday Achievements": here is a list of how to unlock each achievement, and the rewards..

I got the king of the party one without getting all the others. Only thing I'm missing now are being complimented and playing against bots. I don't like asking someone for compliments to complete it, that seems a bit scummy -
Cruisers are a support role. But they support the whole team; - they pour HE onto battleships who are otherwise engaged to help friendly BB win faster - they shoot destroyers that get spotted - they help friendly DD flush caps - they cap when they can get away with it - they kill enemy cruisers to help relieve friendly BB/DD - they torp enemy ships where possible - they intercept enemy bombers - they give friendly DD a safe haven to run to if they have fighters above them so the DD can go invisible again -they help spot DD that are hiding in smoke by using hydro/radar -they disrupt bomber drops using defensive fire/float fighter so that friendly ships can avoid them better. What people seem to think they should do however is glue themselves onto a BB who farts about at 20km on the off chance that some planes or a DD turn up.

PLEASE change Manual AA Captain skill to include Autofire
Xevious_Red replied to RedStorm1's topic in General Discussion
Haven't tested it fully but the original patch notes for 0.5.3 had it where they didn't fire. This was changed so they'd fire normally; Q: So, the new skills related to AA guns and secondary armament will disable auto-fire A: It is true for the secondary armament, but not for AA guns -
They too that out of the PT notes at the last minute and it wasn't in the PT. So sounds like something that was being given tested/considered that made it into the notes when it shouldn't have.

Main use for it is to see which ships have citadels under water and which are above, and which ships have a really armoured section (usually the bridge) as part of the super structure.
-
Well the first step is to admit you're obviously wrong. Your eyes are playing tricks on you because it's well known that all HE shells against BB do maximum damage all the time. However, yeah you get lots of non pen with HE against BB superstructure because of the reasonable amount that you can't penetrate. It's usually worth using HE until you get a fire or two, then swapping to AP, only sapping back to HE when the fires go out.

I suspect that the RN cruisers will be highly complained about. The people that "get" them will get on well, and will be the cause of plenty of "OP, nerf smoke, nerf HE" threads. The people that don't get the playstyle will instead complain that they're crap and utterly useless

I got to des moines. I will be honest, I played a game in Isokaze instead, got 10k XP (bless all those BB) and just converted it to free XP. Can confirm that the radar is indeed halved on its reload. I'd like to have seen if the faster reload really affects DD's ability to cap, but there weren't any. So the radar testing produced 2 results; - It makes a satisfying "bloop" noise. You can now do this 2x as fast as before. -If a battleship sails behind an island you can make him appear again. Just in case during the 10 seconds he would have been hidden your team somehow managed to forget about him.

To answer the question: Yes you can. However, as said above its a bad idea. Game changes as you go up the tiers. Yes the ships get bigger with bigger guns, but your opponents get those too. As you go up the tiers it becomes less and less forgiving. Trying to learn how to succeed when you've skipped all the basic learning, are facing people who know exactly what they're doing, and the weapons being used can wreck you incredibly fast if you mess up is a bad idea, especially since at high tiers the repair bill is hefty and can chew large holes out of your credits

Reward players for playing deficit classes.
Xevious_Red replied to Kazomir's topic in General Discussion
I didn't get it from anywhere. It was a made up example since someone was asking what a deficit class was. From what I understood of the OP's post the idea was if the queue consisted of 600 of one class and about 1 of the others, some kind of reward for not playing the overly popular class -
Reward players for playing deficit classes.
Xevious_Red replied to Kazomir's topic in General Discussion
As in if 60% of the population are in BB, and 30% are in destroyers, some extra reward for people that take cruisers/carriers. -
Premium account: it gives +50% credits and +50% XP, so you can unlock new stuff faster, and earn more credits, so I can afford new ships faster. Also applies to world of tanks (one premium account covers both) which I also play. I have a premium account, I generally go for the annual one, and pick it up when it's on discount around Xmas (gives the best value for money). For me it's worth it because WoWs and WoT are my "go to" games if I'm playing on the computer. Premium consumables: set them to replenish using credits rather than gold, but mostly yes. The better cool down and extra charge means you can be alive longer and do more damage which earns you more credits, which then pays for the premium consumables. Repair, heal, smoke and radar are always premium ones for me. Both the planes are never premium. Hydro/defensive depends on ship and how likely I'll actually need it. Premium ships: depends what you want out of it. Some are great credit earners so a few games on an evening with one and you have several million credits in the bank. (Atago) Others earn lots of XP and make good crew trainers, while some are just unique and have different playstyle. With premium ships it's worth knowing what you want from it AND being an appropriate level to be able to handle it. Don't therefore buy an Atago (tier 8) if you've never had anything over tier 3 since you'll just die, repeatedly.

Win/loss rate when a division is in the team
Xevious_Red replied to SkybuckFlying's topic in General Discussion
Depends really. A division of anyone average and above will be beneficial because of the added benefits of communication and working together. A division of significantly below average just means instead of one dead weight you now have 3, and if they happen to be all of your teams top tier that can be hard to carry -
I doubt many people would trade in CE for JoAT. Although you can have faster CD on radar it eats into the ability to get close enough to a DD without them just running. It also means you get spotted before all the other cruisers, so will get focused more. Going to try to test it more on PT with both set ups, but I suspect I'll keep CE
-
Testing in a cruiser is incredibly masochistic atm. In addition to the new mode being brawl mode (that's OK), and the 10 enemy BB having a hard on for you, your team also expects you to go stop the cap while they sail about trying to shoot the poor sod on the other team who chose a cruiser. However, going to continue and try to get some stats in for radar in the new mode

Confirm on the laggy torps, and the choppy 3d model of ship in port. Closing the client and reopening resolved
-
The torp markers have changed? They now don't move smoothly but instead move in a jerky fashion? Thought it was lag at first, but every torp was doing it and nothing else was. Will play some more games but not a fan of it so far

But that's then a realism thing in an arcade game - in RL you probably wouldn't get a fire from hitting the top of a flag pole. But then you also wouldn't be able to instantly put out the fire and repair the damage. It's worth pointing out that you can achieve similar stupid results with AP - just shoot the tip of their bow, the top of the flagpole, and the hoist on the stern. In RL that's some minor damage. In game that's 3/4 dead

Wargaming and the other way of enabling us in our own personal data is stored at a very high quality service in WoT. I think this was the phone's attempt to warn us about data security
-
It's worth waiting till games have become a bit more normal - at the moment it's hard to tell if team Nassau is better/worse than the south carolina because all games are 11 nassau + 1 destroyer vs 10 nassau and a pair of unlucky cruisers. Therefore there's lots of HP available, more than you would normally see so you can get some really high damage scores, and the WR are messed up (since half the nassau win and half lose).
-
The numbers are probably quite skewed at the moment though simply due to the number of BB at low tiers - there's a LOT of HP floating around at the moment, more so because they can heal. So the average damage is going to be a lot higher.
-
I suspect it will actually make a large number of players play worse. Currently the Budy excels at kiting at long range - keeps it out of range of other cruisers, and BB dispersion is so bad at that range that most miss. If they now go charging in to try to get within 8km for their 15 sec radar (getting spotted at 12km) I suspect they'll just end up dead, since they're a huge citadel. Currently it's rather unneeded, so it's probably a pre-emptive for when the RN cruisers (which WILL be popular) start dropping smoke everywhere

The tier 6 seems a bit odd - presumably they'd lose the spotting plane for this? Don't think it's really that needed, mid tiers seem quite good atm. Although the radar 1 was pretty long (probably too long), the radar 2 with appropriate skills/flags is going to have a very fast reload - with JoAT and flags that can get down to 96 secs (dunno how popular JoAT is on cruisers, but probably more so after this). Fighter group change seems redundant - from tier 7 upwards people don't really take fighters anyway unless they have to, and on the tier 4 they already stomp the IJN ones
