  1. I've played 13 games now and I'm yet to even meet a carrier.
  2. I played one game with the enterprise. Won (obviously). Reported. (Obviously). Dullest game ever, immediately went and played a different class

Year of the CV full recap

Ironically not actually. The old RTS style you could use autodrop (as bad as it was), so bad players could literally left click on a ship and let the game do the work. The new style you have to lead, initiate at the right time, and not flare out the aim reticle through sudden movements. While this isn't exactly the hardest thing in the world, its significantly more involved than simply clicking on something. Because of this, the terribad are plumbing whole new depths of failing. The average player is doing ok, since you know don't need to multitask and the enemy cv isn't a threat, and the good players are still roflstomping anything they encounter.

0.8.11.1, Ranked Sprint: Tier VIII Duels

I will point out that the people who play a class on the test server aren't always the same as the people who play that class on the live server. CV are frequently tried out on the test server by people who want to see what they're like. Presumably your plan would be to yolo the CV - Personally I don't think I'd have an issue killing off a single DD that's going as quickly as possible towards me - A dd can be taken out in usually 4-5 good rocket strikes. Something like the enterprise can launch 4 strikes from the first wave. Similarly with good aim/a little RNG, the lexington/saipan can do huge damage with HE bombs

CV wont bother even trying to cap. Game ends when the one enemy ship dies. So you just kill that ship.

0.8.11.1, Ranked Sprint: Tier VIII Duels

The competent CV player. His planes didn't get any weaker, but you have zero supporting AA. None of the tier 8 cruisers have sufficient AA to hold him off. The only silver lining is that theres no other threats so you don't have to worry about showing broadside and therefore will dodge torps better. Majority of CV players are semi-terrible so you will probably do Ok against them, but against a competent one you will sink.

    Carrier Career

Nowhere have I recommended converting free Xp for real money. You earn it as 5% of your XP, boosted by flags and camo. You also get it from the more resources container. You CAN convert it for real money if you really want, but I wouldn't recommend it. Tier 6 CV are fine in tier 8 as long as you have a bit of sensible target selection, and are able to fly around the black clouds. I also don't think it's a particularly long grind for the tier 8 either. I've just finished the Furious (arguably the worst tier 6), and it took 27 games which I don't feel is a huge amount.

    Carrier Career

Things to bear in mind when considering XP: You get the base amount for playing/winning. Having premium time active gives +50%. While premium costs real money, you can get it for free from various missions (usually 24hrs) First victory gives a bonus. There are various flags that give extra XP. If you don't have these, then selecting the camos/flag daily container is a good idea. Alternatively the more resources container frequently contains the +50% flags. For the rarer flags, these are usually rewards - participating in ranked usually earns them, as does trying out the public test server (PTS) when it's up. These really help with XP earning. There are camo for ships that give extra XP. These frequently are rewards from various missions so keep an eye out for missions that give camo. You can use free xp to help unlock a ship. Selecting the more resources container is a good source of free xp. Similarly there are flags/camo that boosts your free xp earnt.

Submarines Test Iteration #3 - Feedback

Ok feedback from playing them/playing against; -Subs being able to attack other subs is good. -Subs being able to keep other subs spotted by pings is good. -Subs being able to keep surface ships spotted by pings is bad (see DD in smoke footage) -Torps able to chase other subs is fine. -Torps chase surface ships too well. Suggest either less tracking, or have a larger gap between the torps so you can steer between them. -Subs not being able to surface is ok - it separates their play style from DD and stops them auto spotting everything. -Ping shouldn't go over islands. -Battery for ping is an OK idea. -Battery being able to recharge while sat still deep underwater means subs technically never need to come any higher than 50m down. This means if theres no DD/Sub/CL left alive then the sub is functionally invulnerable.

Current homing looks too strong - the test 2 torps were ok; homing but not too bad. These look like they really steer.

    SUBMARINES - discussion, feedback, opinions

From initial glance at the changes; -DD, cruisers and other subs can now kill "deep" subs -DD and cruisers can hunt subs as they now both have the marker/depth charges -CV/BB will continue to kill subs at periscope level as long as they're spotted. -Radar now spots them at periscope. -Not "forced" to come up at any point -Attacks from deep look difficult due to having to essentially blind shot the ping -Cant just keep attacking from deep due to running out of battery. -The closer to the surface they get, the "easier" it is for them to attack, but the more risk they put themselves at. Will need to play to see If things like detection range has changed

legendary/unique upgrades becomes research buru only

Looks like they're relenting a bit; Commanders! Please pay attention to additional information and changes regarding latest DevBlog post about Unique Upgrades. First of all, we thank you for your feedback and suggestions. While moving Unique Upgrades to Research Bureau is a necessary step to evolve this system, we decided to prolong the existing Unique Upgrades missions for the whole year 2020. That means that you have plenty of time complete them at reasonable pace without the fear of loosing already received progress. Also, as initially stated, you still can receive these missions until Update 0.9.1. What's even more important, we appreciate your concerns about big changes to the gameplay aspect of Unique Upgrades themselves. We're happy to clarify: there are none. Unique Upgrades are meant as a way to customize your ship with a fair trade-off, and we are keeping them such. What we want to do with the announced changes is: - To introduce the long awaited new upgrades for some tier X ships that don't have them; - To finally revise the existing Unique Upgrades - some of them might be a bit too strong, and some of them might be to weak or overly specialized; - To move their delivery method to more flexible Bureau - while it may require some additional changes to Bureau in future, this system is much easier to sustain than the increasing number of combat missions for each ship. We will surely keep you updated on specific changes as they are being designed, but again, the core concept of these upgrades is absolutely the same: they offer some alternative playstyle, and do not work as direct buff. Thank you for your attention and input!

    Developer Bulletin 0.9.0

I have 18 tier X. Due to previously there being no timescale I have currently done 2 of the legendary modules, because I enjoy playing other tiers as well. The remaining ships are somewhere between stage 1/5 and stage 3/5. Quite simply I will not complete these for the remaining ships in the 3 month window. I have no interest in re-grinding lines. I have no problem with there being unique stuff available via this method (ships, new modules etc), however by changing how these original modules are acquired has moved the goal posts. This has left me with the unenviable position of; 1). Grind multiple hundreds of battles in a 3 month period. At a rough estimate I think it will take me approx. 1500 battles (takes about 150 per ship, need to do 16 ships, but most are part done) 2). Lose all progress and and re-grind them using a method I do not want to use. 3). Simply lose all progress and never have them.

    Unique upgrades in RB?

I have about 18 tier X. I have completed 2 legendary upgrades as I like playing lots of different ships/tiers. I had never rushed it before as it was promised to have no time limit and therefore could be done at own pace. There's no way I'll complete these in time. I hate the idea of resetting and re grinding a line. If these were "new" upgrades then that's one thing. But this just feels like moving the goalposts and [edited]me over

The stated intention was 1 sub per side when it's on the live server. Dunno if that will be a soft or a hard limit though.

Are you going for the Alaska+ (AKA PR)

They crunched some numbers on reddit - in order to achieve it, you would need to complete every directive within 3 days of it becoming active. That sounds ok until you realise that some of the missions will take a very long time. That's not "hope I get lucky", but just huge numbers. For example one is earn 150K base xp. If you somehow play at unicum level every game and earn 2k base xp a game (most people do NOT earn 2k base xp a game), then that will require 75 games. At an average of 15 mins that's 19 hours needed IF you can play permanently at unicum levels AND have a 100% WR. If for some reason you're thinking 19 hours is doable in the 72hr window you have, that's only one mission. You need to complete 6. The others are equally long, and theres almost zero synergy; so nearly every mission needs to be done seperately.

Even CCs complain about Puerto Rico grind

I'm yet to see anyone be positive about this. The CV rework might be hated by lots, but there's plenty who do enjoy playing them. Subs might be hated, but there's people stoked about having them The usual free boxes/grind have people complain, but are usually countered with "not actually that hard" etc, or it's only a box. This I've ONLY seen negative stuff about, nothing positive, and not even the usual shills trying to defend it.

    Upcoming WG stream today evening

I think I can see the transcript now: "Oh this ship building looks so cool, I'm really excited by this" "Oh I got some free doubloons from these Santa crates" "Those crates are so good aren't they?" "I'd buy so many" "Let's use the doubloons on this booster!" "Wow look at that go up!" "Ok we've got a question from chat" "Notatallawargamingemployee wants to know what the best captain skills for the PR are" "What a great question notatallawargamingemployee - why not try different skills? Remember that's what the re-spec for doubloons button is there for"

WG Just removed their latest video

Annoyingly last year I was burned out from grinding and had a 2-3 month break. This year I've been taking it steady, and had actually been semi excited for this grind. Had set aside time to play some ships, earn some coal/steel, and hopefully get a free ship. Instead it's a resounding eurgh. I'll probably get the steel from the snowflakes via coop but that's about it.

    Saipan, Kaga or Graf Zeppelin

This depends how good the player is. The Saipan hits like a ton of bricks, but its unforgiving with losses, so you really need to know how to dodge flak, fighters and not take too many losses etc. Kaga has weaker planes, but with 96 if them it doesnt really matter if you fly through flak/fighters etc. So Saipan gives great results for good players. Kaga is noob friendly and doesnt punish plane losses.

CV: Always blamed for the loss of a game

The secret is to not get wiped out pretty quickly. Your play style will be different (lots of kiting), but this isn't always a bad thing.
