OKTYABRSKAYA REVOLUTSIYA in the shop & mission
Xevious_Red replied to SteDorff's topic in General Discussion
Why do you think its such a turd? The texas/NY/ are too slow to realistically relocate if required, while only the kongo is faster than the Okt Rev. The Okt R has the most guns (that are reasonably accurate) which makes it produce reasonable results from every volley. The armour is nice and solid so you can bounce for days. The kongo/texas/NY all have soft areas that can be exploited. The DC means you can pretty much not be on fire if you want. The lower caliber means you dont really get citadels against BB, but you shouldnt be aiming there anyway against them. Against cruisers you wreck them (frequently in one volley). The lower caliber means less over pen. Also you have the lowest detection (it can get down to 11.4) so if you dont want to fight enemy BB anymore you just use your speed + low detection to relocate. Also the slightly high reload (32 seconds) doesnt matter if they cant see you for 1/3 of your reload -
A ship is OP if it is significantly better than its peers. For example the shiny horse has the health, heal, armour, and turtleback and murderous secondaries of a battleship, the torps of a cruiser, the accuracy and (almost) dpm of a cruiser and the speed/rudder of a cruiser. Which means its fast, agile, accurate, doesnt have large pauses between volleys, has a nasty alpha strike for CC, has some excellent close support secondaries while being very difficult to kill. Oh and its AA isnt a slouch either. By comparision the gneis has the speed/torps/secondaries but its main guns couldnt hit a barn. The tier 7 cruisers are made of wet paper compared to it

Use the scroll wheel on your mouse. Scrolling up will zoom you in to the normal carrier view but you'll be looking at the area where your mouse was on the global map

OKTYABRSKAYA REVOLUTSIYA in the shop & mission
Xevious_Red replied to SteDorff's topic in General Discussion
Comfirm you dont get top tier 1st game. In fact out of the 5 games Ive had, only been top tier once. However feel sorry (more sorry) for poor tier 5 cruisers when this gets into the hands of more people, from the games Ive had its pretty damn OP. For example: strike bogue with tier 6 planes, me with exactly zero AA skills/equipment, and on my own? 10 plane kills. Out of the 5 games Ive had, won 4, and have an average damage of 90k. Its remarkably tanky, and having limited DC party? Never yet used all 5 (I do obviously use SI and DCII). its comfortable brawling, and is accurate enough at range. The CD on DC is pretty much nothing, to the point where late game you can happily put out single fires if you have some spare because its pretty much always available. I only had a 6pt captain on it, but with CE it would have an 11.4 concealment -
To be fair it wouldnt suprise me if they rolled DW torps across all CV. Currently with a CV dropping on a DD is the obvious choice - it has the least AA, is probably the most exposed, and you potentially remove one of the more influential enemy ships. Battleships are low on a priority since you probably wont kill them, they have lots of AA, their torp belt reduces damage and they can heal. If CV literally couldnt hit DD with torps they'd go after BB instead (cruisers are less likely due to DF)

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?
Xevious_Red replied to Cobra6's topic in General Discussion
Always nice to see a (pleasant) forum member anyway. Sorry you didnt have a great game -
Is listening to depeche mode/T-rex/Pantera mandatory while playing parts 1-3?

Invisibility and overpowered camouflage is no fun
Xevious_Red replied to deBanfield's topic in General Discussion
Although you cant see the exact range, theres a cone on the mini map that shows your render range -

Xevious_Red replied to deBanfield's topic in General Discussion
This is true. Generally only DD have a short render range, and the OP was a battleship main (who generally have very large render ranges). It is possible though if he was playing a lower tier BB and hiding right at the back to be shot at by something outside his render range -
Same. Played a game. After game ended just returned to port. No xp gained, no results shown. Second time Ive had this happen now

Umikaze used to.do alright in beta in tier X. Mostly because it could stealth torp, there was no such thing as radar and hydro didnt exist. There was even a long running arguement as to if the isokaze (tier 4) was a better choice than shimakaze (tier 10) in tier 10 games just because of the torps per minute possible

There are several clans who exist purely to collect oil. I (currently) have no interest in TS/clan battles/divisions/etc. I joined a clan that was set up for oil gathering. I literally do nothing different to what I was doing previously, but now I have tier 5/6 ships on a permanent discount. Around about this time next week I should hopefully have cheaper repair bills.

If he TK you how come the enemy team have 12 kills between them?

The one I joined went from being started to being full in 6 hours.

Problem is 2 kids aged 1 and 3. If they stay asleep i have all evening. Or maybe I have to go up to deal with them 20x. Large amount of evenings are "ok I think they're settled lets try 1 more game....." Joined a clan that is pure oil collection based

Was tempted by scrubs. Kids atm mean i keep having to run away between games for 20/30 mins so I'd be really annoying to division with (long suffering RL mate is used to it)

Supercontainers from yamamoto don't seem to give oil btw. Got 2 daily containers, and just finished part 3 yamamoto. Daily containers gave oil, final mission super container rewards didnt

Application sent. This is what im looking for atm -
I think WG want to get back to CBT levels of class distribution - Battleships werent too popular (they had +3MM so your wyoming ended up in tier 7 games), while CV were very popular with terrible players (langly had 12 torp bombers, and the auto drop corrected the drop angle even after the point of no return). Currently WG have a surplus of battleships, a lack of carriers, and a whole ton of below average players. The below average players want to have a nice damage score, while using the safest ship that doesnt require much thought. Currently the BB fill that niche for them. It makes sense then for them to try to get a portion of those below average players to swap their BB for CV. In order for that to work, it needs to frighten BB (to make them swap), be really easy to use (just click on something), give large damage numbers (30k/40k/one shot), but not break the game by killing everything (which the CBT CV did) The AP bombs makes sense for this - it gets the big damage numbers while being easy to use, doesnt hugely influence the game, and is a direct threat to BB. I wouldnt be suprised if they released a whole line of CV based on this concept.

Thoughts after finishing the birthday-event
Xevious_Red replied to krautjaeger's topic in General Discussion
It was pretty easy to do them, I just did the ones that fitted my grinding and used duplicates to get the rest. Only thing I did different from normal play was take out the shinomone, and play 1 game in the atago -

1). They removed stealth firing several patches ago. If someone is firing at you and you cant see them they're either behind an island or in a smoke screen. The other option is your pc hasnt rendered the smoke cloud/ship in which case its a hardware issue 2). Yes some destroyers are good at starting fires. Torps coming from unspotted ships is a feature in this game. There are ships from tier 2 (umikaze) that can do this. As you get higher then a large number of ships can launch undetected. If you are using tier 8 ships the general assumption is that you probably would have learnt how to cope with this by now. 3). The only advantage to concealment that any camo gives is -3% and thats available on the cheapest camo (8k silver). Any more expensive camo juat gives bonuses to XP. Serious advice: play more games in random around tier 3/4. You played a lot in co op. Co-op bots are incredibly dumb. You're now trying to play higher tiers against actual players (who have a decent knowledge of the game mechanics) while having no knowledge of the game mechanics yourself -
I stacked the saipan mission from july (+200% xp) with the weekend win (+200% xp), with the new years camo (+200% free xp) with the ouroboros flag (+777% free xp), with the papapapa flag (+300% free xp) with premium account (+50% free xp). Pratted about shooting down some planes and killed a destroyer for a mid table result but 9k free xp. That would be more if I used the hydra flag, the ecl flag, the red dragon flag, actually tried hard, and didnt suck balls in carriers.

Different people working on things. You might find the people who do ship textures etc have finished work on the PA DD, but havent yet been given a finished model of the next ships.

Because if you see a broadside yamato you can hit it in the right place for Citadels with AP (potentially up to 12 citadels). Each citadel does 13500 damage and cant be repaired. A good volley can therefore potentially kill a yamato in one go. Even if it doesnt kill it, it leaves it on low health that it cant repair. Each HE does up to 4800 damage. In order to do that it needs to citadel. Since it doesnt have enough pen to punch through the belt it simply cant citadel the yamato. Instead it can get regular pens on softer areas like the super structure. A regular pen does 1/3 damage so thats 1600. The fires have a listed chance of 40%. A high tier BB has an inbuilt reduction tbat cuts that number in half. So your 40% is actually more like 20%. Less if he has fire reducing skills/equipment. You also cant start a fire if theres alrwady one there from someone else. Most importantly though, fire damage can be healed 100%. So even though you have 20k written on your screen as "damage done" that damage is worthless if he's healed it all up again. Its far more useful to have done 13500 that he couldnt heal

GZ test II or Graf Zeppeling testing elsewhere
Xevious_Red replied to SteDorff's topic in General Discussion
People generally dislike recieving damage in large chunks. Losing 100k from 20x 5k is a lot more palatable than 1x 100k, even if they take the same amount of time to deliver.
