6.12 marks the end of World of Warships
Xevious_Red replied to Charger76's topic in General Discussion
It's a tier 8 cruiser with 19km guns, with excellent accuracy, an decent fire chance, IFHE gives it the same pen as 203's, with tier X worthy AA, torpedoes, and can produce its own smoke cloud. Its very much OP, and yes I own one. It has a 50% global WR because literally anyone can buy it, including people who have never played a tier 8 ship before. If you dont think the MK is OP, which ship do you think is OP?- 233 replies

Their DD's could have got close enough to reveal us. In that game their DD couldnt actually get within 2km of us, but could have got within 5km The game was with belfasts, but it works just as well with twin fiji, leander, etc The ever popular perma smoke division is Gearing + Mino+ DM. None are premium.- 233 replies

6.12 marks the end of World of Warships
Xevious_Red replied to Charger76's topic in General Discussion
Smoke is also one of the easiest mechanics to abuse. Had a tier 7 game where me and a division mate were in belfasts. Two brothers, south spawn, standard battle. We went to the north east of our cap, and basically sat in smoke all game. Where were the counters to our never ending smoke cloud (when one was running out the other activated theirs)? Radar? Nope we were the only radar ships in the game. Torps? Nope, theres a large beach area you can easily shoot over that blocks all torps. Hydro? They had no german DD, and we had some team mates to the east. So any cruiser would be spotted at around 12km and would then need to run a gauntlet to get within 4km of 24 IFHE rounds every 7.5 seconds + our team shooting. Shooting into smoke? At tier 7 things arent that accurate. Lots cant take spotter plane to get the easier aiming, or just dont know the trick. There wasnt really any teamwork beyond plant smoke and start farming damage. I own several smoke cruisers - up to edin on RN line and belfast/MK from premium. Both the belfast and MK are some of the most passive ships going - get in range, set up smoke, sit and farm damage. I find them pretty boring to play. Im enjoying the DM atm. I might be balls at it because im highly reckless but its more exciting to stalk around an island and launch into a furious AP brawl than it is to sit somewhere clicking- 233 replies

I suspect because quite a few RN cruisers I see sail vaguely on their own into open water, come within range of enemy and stop and put smoke on. They dont really have a clue if theres any DD nearby because they have noone screening or scouting with them. Instead they just put hydro on so they can move IF torps turn up. Instead they have a little island of "immunity" simply because 9/10 players in random are terrible at shooting smoke or dont even bother, and hydro covers torps. Those players will have a harder time because all a DD needs to do now is sail near their isolated smoke cloud to reveal the cruiser. On the other hand, a RN cruiser supporting a DD, and using it to spot/screen is unlikely to be affected, as the enemy DD will get spotted way before it comes within 5.4 of you.- 233 replies

So Wargaming, new maps instead of premiums?
Xevious_Red replied to Drunken_Jedi's topic in General Discussion
More maps would be great. They should include a map with each major update. Id even be happy with some slightly different versions of maps - caps in different places, more/less caps etc. Maybe even different spawn points - how would 2 brothers play if it ran east to west, making the channel useful for cheeky flanking rather than pointless suicide into base campers -

If you dont like them you have until 0.6.14 to refund them for full price in doubloons. So technically you lose nothing as long as you dont mind having a fairly large stack of doubloons -

Xevious_Red replied to Charger76's topic in General Discussion
DD are barely affected. Have a look at the values. The absolute worst is the khaba, at 4km. The rest are somewhere around 2.2 - 2.8km Well currently you get spotted anyway at 2km. You get spotted anyway by someone who has TAS at 3km. Unless you have a profound fondness of trying to smoke at 2.5 km and then shoot him in the ~4 seconds before he gets to 2km anyway then its going to make exactly no difference to most destroyers. RN cruisers are more affected as theirs will now be 5.4/5.5 for most, and 6.5 neptune, which is quitr a big difference from what they currently have.- 233 replies

Which forum members have you seen in random battles?

Im now wishing I chose a single name with a capital (like Vladamir or something) because then I could pretend to be a bot -
Your average WR is going down, but your average tier is going up. Lots of people (myself included) find it quite easy to carry at lower tiers, but find it harder at high tiers. At tier 4 I have a 66 nearly 67% WR. This is a combination of playing in a division, plus you can carry games just because lots of the people you meet sail in a straight line and cant shoot. At tier X I have a 49% WR because I only play tier X solo, and because secretly Im a massive potato. As I play more tier X games and Im expected to carry more then either I'll get better, or my WR will sink down to match my potato-y-ness

Saw @Nechrom on the enemy team. Wasn't in a ship though. Tried shooting him down in my stock whateveratierIIIrussianplaneiscalled and got an assist :) Then our team lost horribly. -
Don't be silly, they'll just remove manual attacks. Now no-one can strafe out!

Thats working on the assumption that the GZ would be the only CV that cant torp DD while all the others can. What if the CV rework just gives deep water torps to ALL cv, and therefore reduces their ability to easily kill DD? -

Met @cherry2blost who was sailing around kicking a55 and taking names. Luckily was on my team, and had a nice little chat in port afterwards :) -
Play the same ship in a new battle, before the battle ends, after you are sunk?
Xevious_Red replied to Hawg's topic in General Discussion
As irritating as it is for me to die early in a ship im grinding and have to use another/wait, it would irritate me a lot more to have games where people just yolo forwards, fire once or twice and try for a ram to get 30 games per hour in -
Do you use "Adrenaline Rush" Captain skill on your BBs?
Xevious_Red replied to Leo_Apollo11's topic in General Discussion
I use it on any ship except CV, the only reason some dont have it is because they dont yet have enough points -
If the cambeltown and the gallant are anything to go by they're unlikely to be gunboats. Both those are hybrids, with long range but slow reload torps, useable guns but nothing special.

Theres 3 things as the contents. Theres nothing to say these will be equally weighted. You could just get prem days -
Tirpitz. Rocking somwthing like 47% WR in it after 150 ish games. I just dont like it at all and would rather play literally any other tier 8 BB
-
Yeah had this happen. Whats annoying is when it could easily be remedied as well; why do we have 2 tier 7 DD (neither in a platoon) when they have 2 tier 8 DD (neither in a platoon). How hard would it be for both teams to have a tier 7 and a tier 8
-
Try playing any of the call of duty games on easy on single player. You literally walk forward taking virtually no damage. The game snaps to target so you only vaguely have to point in the right direction to shoot enemies. They die to one bullet even if it clips their foot, while your charcter is essentially invunerable. Then a cut scene happens where some stuff blows up and you get told you're such a bad [edited]who totally saved the world. They then take this level of expectation (doing many kills, not dying, being told they're a bad [edited]), and the level of being spoon fed it, and expect that to happen in a multiplayer game. Because what they really want is to not really have to do anything, survive, and get lots of kills.

Because every other BB has worse armour - kongo/NY/texas/ID all have large 19mm sections on their bow and stern. The konig has less 19mm than them, but still more than the Okt R. The Okt R has a tiny section on the front and a tiny section on the back, and they dont even reach the water line. What that means is that all the other BB have large sections that are overmatched by all BB guns, and can be damaged by 120mm HE. The OkT R doesnt. The front and rear portions of the Okt R are 75mm at the waterline. Which means its immune on those portions to all HE spam except RN with their 1/4 rule. Other BB? Will eat full damage. The entire deck is 38mm. Which makes it immune to 203mm HE, and 152mm IFHE. Every other tier 5 BB? Large portions of 19mm so they eat plenty of damage. Even the superstructure (which can be damaged) is 3 small colums instead of one large central mass, which makes it easier for shells to miss it. So yeah it has slightly lower health. In return it simply ignores a huge number of the shells that get fired at it. I used the stats of your other tier 5 ships simply as an example since they're the closest. What would you like to compare it to? You have a 27% hit rate and 67k average damage with guns you think are weak, useless, and cant hit. How much damage would you be expecting to do if they were something you considered not useless? Id understand you thinking it was bad if you had a low avsrage damage, which is why your comments about it being a turd suprise me -

Out of the games Ive played (admittedly only 5, but you've only played 8 yourself) Ive never yet run out of DCP, and thats simply by using standard protocol of only putting out 2 fires. It has lower HP. You have 5 heals. You can make it last a long time. I would question why in a ship you say is terrible and how it would be so much easier to do well in a 356mm gunned ship, you do 67k average in the Okt R, but only 40/51k in the NY/Texas which have your prefered armament. The velocity is a bit slow, that caught me out a few times, but I found I could happily hit targets up to max range. French cruisers are a bit annoying since you tend to over pen them but everything else was ok. 60% of the games I had in it were tier 7. I find it interesting we had such different experiences in it -

It has pretty slow turrets, best in class concealment, the turrets break more than desired. HE isnt a huge threat, but fires will tick away damage since you're more hesistant to use a DC charge due to them being limited. Preventive maintence, expert marksman, adrenaline rush, super intendant, BoS, CE and fire prevention would be my desired build if I wanted a dedicated captain. Im however using it to train a captain appropriate for the moskva so will likely have a slightly different build -
High tiers do generally get higher XP. The easiest way is pick the ship that you're most comfortable with and it should be pretty easy. Either that or take out the sims, cap one point and fire your guns a bit, and get 2k base xp since that thing has a monsterous multiplier
