Also tier 5 gets all the tier 7 games, which hits newbies in the face like a brick wall. Oh you like the kongo? Why not get Kaga'd. Omaha your taste? Enjoy Scharnhorst tearing you a new one. Just bought the minekaze? Bam! Suprise Belfast. Because tier 7 also happens to contain the most "extra-balanced" premiums

I will pay no more for this game
Xevious_Red replied to TridentOfNeptune's topic in General Discussion
Or the opposite - every ranked season I play about 1-2 games to get the bulk of the free flags. My ranked rating is always therefore somewhere around 18-23. My division mate never plays ranked so he is always unranked. So if you were to see the pair of us as an unranked and a rank 18, in the bottom league clan we joined for oil benefits you might assume we're 45% bots. Now while Im pants on head bad with some ships (looking at you yamato/DM), you might be pleasantly suprised to find we're 57%/60% overall -

I *highly* expect CV rework to be nothing like current CV. As in my expectation is for it to no longer be top down RTS but instead play more like the paragon class from fractured space (YT if unsure what i.mean) -
Your progress towards Adm Yamamoto & DD Shinonome

Finished and easy. Didnt bother playing any differently, just found whichever task was the easiest to complete with normal play (usualy get xp/credits) and repeated that one to get enough stars. -

Why not use the emblem system to promote "play the objective"
Xevious_Red replied to hgbn_dk's topic in General Discussion
Interestingly you see lots of the cruiser/BB/CV emblems but not many of the top nation emblems. Guessing either they dont like them, want to announce which class is their main, or not actually as good at winning and being top 3 as they are at damage farming -
This puzzles me; You have played lots of high tier, so you know that radar exists. Its not like this is a new unpleasant suprise for a tier 5 newbie encountering a belfast for the first time. You know that radar goes through islands. Given how many games you have high tier Id like to think you know what ships have it and their radar ranges. Given how many games you have I'd like to think you know by now popular spots that radar cruisers go/where on the map you might get a susprise radar. Why do you keep getting caught out by it?
-
Because what they don't want is something like "increase langley fighter speed by +2, give hosho 4 more reserves." What they instead want is what it will take to get average joe potato to play the class. Click on stuff appears to be the popular answer judging by tiee 4 frequently having 2 carrier per side games, and what came out of the GZ test.

I actually expect the rework to be incredibly dumbed down, and not even RTS. For reference look at how the paragon works in fractured space - the view is the same as other ships, you target lock enemy, and then you press 2 to launch bombers at them. The bombers go off and auto attack. Similar for fighters. So im expecting that, with the "secondaries" being main guns for them to shoot

Because apart from a very few select ships, radar ships can't get into range without being seen. Which means if you put your smoke in a place where they can sneak up on you unseen, or if you cut off your own LoS because you dont have any way of spotting near you then you are using your smoke wrongly. Similarly if you havent positioned yourself in a way to quickly and safely leave smoke in the event of torps/charging radar cruiser then you are also using it wrong.
-
The reason no-one sensible uses the 20km torps regularly is not because they're 20km. Its because they get spotted at 2.4km which means literally everything has time to spot them and avoid them on their own. The only people that get hit by them are people that for whatever reason cant move out of the way, or oblivious people. If the 20km weren't useless I'd happily use them. As it stands with the shima you sacrifice too much to get the extra range.

After the Kappa-Captain, this month, Twitch-Prime gives away a free Texas.
Xevious_Red replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
The twitch give aways arent really to reward wows players, but to entice people to sign up for prime, or to entice non players to try playing it. For the existing players, texas is going to be more popular than marblehead/krispy kreme. For non players, texas is a known ship (so more enticing) that isnt going to get triple citadelled/ganked by a CV first time they play it, meaning they're more likely to stick around as players. Yes it does mean there'll be some total novice "what does this button do" players at tier 5 for the next month. -
Neptune brings the dakka and the zombie heal. Minotaur brings so much dakka, and (for me at least) a level of fun that probably shouldnt be legal

Games with 1 BB are..... incredibly unusual.

Xevious_Red replied to MrFingers's topic in General Discussion
Its going to be worse: to get the twitch permanent camo for it, theres a bunch of missions. Which need to be completed in the texas. Which only have 1 month to complete. So even if people werent planning to play straight away, they probably will now to get the perma camo -
Yeah your team are pretty passive here which isnt great. A good place for RNCL is tucked up to an island, to use and abuse your gun arcs. The edinburgh is pretty much the low point in the line at higher tiers if its any consolation
-
If you dont mind me commenting on your smoke placement; -Baltimore and missouri have 9.5km radar. Where you are positioned gives multiple locations they could reach, undetected, and radar you from safely. Essentially they can sneak up on you. -You have no hard cover to hide behind/fall back to. You're in open water. -You are facing towards the enemy. To leave radar you would need to go towards the enemy, turn around (deadly), and then try to leave. Instead try facing away from the enemy, this way you just need to accelerate to leave. -You have been reversing (speed is -6.6). RNCL have great acceleration but only from 0. They're very sluggish going from -speeds to 0 which leaves you a sitting duck -Where you're positioned puts you in an easy place to be torped from anyone in the B cap. You dont have a team mate spotting, nor hydro on. The enemy DD arent spotted so you dont know where they are positioned.
-
To echo the git gud/play around it; -Try to find out the positions of the radar ships before committing to anything. Except chappy, minotaur and pa dd, the other radar ships have worse concealment than their radar range. -don't do stuff that gives away your position before you know where they are. Capping/smoking announces your position -dont sit in smoke if you arent sure they're dead/on the other side of the map, or have someone spotting for you -hard cover = your friend. It doesnt matter if they radar you if noone can actually shoot/torp you. -if you can't have hard cover and need to sit in open water then it needs to have open line of sight. This means they can't sneak up on you and catch you without you seeing them early and in time -position yourself on caps facing back toward your own spawn/team so you can accelerate away if a radar cruiser shows up and you need to leave -Learn what ranges they have, and what ships can have it -If caught on the edge of their radar range then simply leave. -Most radar ships are reasonably squishy and like to hide behind islands. They generally dont tend to chase you. If they do try to kite them into your team. Teams love shooting a wild des moines. -if you know they have radared you know you have a safe duration after it has run out
-
This will be different depending on if you play solo or division. Solo you have to rely on your team shooting the dd/cl that you spot. In a division you can lever a good advantage against enemy Dd by keeping them perma spotted, as long as you have someone competent to actually shoot them. The Asashio would probably pair well with a cruiser - leave a smoke screen for your cruiser buddy, then spot while your cruiser shoots them. The long range fast torps dissuade any BB that would threaten your cruiser.
-
I dont think the BB camping is a huge issue: BB have used every excuse under the sun to hide at the back, from torp walls, smoke, repair costs etc. This is just another excuse for them. The asashio can actually spot/stealth cap. It can't fight its way out of a wet paper bag if it gets seen, but it can try stealth capping. Problem is it most likely wont, because I suspect as the OP says it will be mostly bought by people wanting high damage safe mode. Ultimately though, i dont think it hugely matters - we get bad DD players anyway who go off on some tour of the borders as it is. This will just have the same bad dd players, but in a different ship. We will also probably get some bad bb players swap to it, so they can find a new way of being useless. The really worst part though? I know its no good at doing useful dd stuff (cap contesting) I know it is useless against 2/3 of the enemy team I know the only people its good against will be in positions that dont affect the game I know its a one trick pony that will probably get boring quickly Yet somehow I kinda want one, and this probably makes me a bad person

If its the high school fleet ones then yes I would contact support regarding them, since they were purchased with real money

Division Anchoring: Yuro presents a cool way to get around sucky matchmaking
Xevious_Red replied to FixCVs_Nautical_Metaphor's topic in General Discussion
The 788 CAN get into tier X games, if the MM finds another 78 of 788 cv division to match it with. This means the more people try using this exploit the more people who are just going to take a tier 7 cv into a tier X game. Secondly, it doesn't guarantee the 8's as top tier. It can still put you into a tier 9 game, and some of the AA at tier 9 is fierce. Baltimore/neptune/Iowa/Missouri dont care about saipans. You can actually do worse with a 777 game -saipan atlanta and flint is horrible amount of AA and can have tier 5 opponents who dont have any AA -
My main issue is I have the perma camo for tier X. So while I probably wouldnt have spent 8k anyway, im definitly not spending 8k after already spending 5k
