Suggestion to fix the "sniping BB'" problem

No it's not though. XP is based on PERCENTAGE of damage. So doing 10k from a DD with 20k health (50%) will net you more than doing 10k from a 100k ship (10%). 5 times as much infact. Couple this with the fact that DD are influential to winning, so killing one is very useful, and the fact that if your target doesn't end up dying you contribute nothing in terms of points/removing guns/map control. Shooting a BB for firedamage and it not dying is just about the closest you can do to being useless both for yourself and for your team. Sure if you have literally nothing better to do (nothing in range or spotted), or can actually kill them off (or at least think your team will finish them). Otherwise youre better off doing just about anything else

Suggestion to fix the "sniping BB'" problem

This only works if they are travelling perfectly broadside parallel to you. If they are moving slightly away, or are in the middle of a turn out then doing what you are doing will give you nothing but splashes. You might be lucky and RNG dispersion makes one of your shots go high so you get a hit. Note that if the BB was more accurate, you would therefore actually hit less. Alternatively, if they are turning in, or moving on a path that is slightly approaching then your method will mean you get nothing but superstructure, resulting in 1k damage hits. You need to aim at where the waterline will be when they get there. Simply putting the line at the bottom of their ship is not sufficient. Also YouTube's have a tendency to show their best game where everything goes right, not the ones where they mess up and die doing nothing of note.

    French captains, get in!

The special captains DONT come with the skills. What they have instead is a "better" version if you select those skills. So if you want to take advantage of that better expert marksman/adrenaline you still need to spend the points to get them.
  4. I suspect it will be a patch, same as CC have a unique patch
  5. King Of The Seas. Although your version is funnier
  6. They should take a leaf from WoT books. There you have "historical" camo patterns. Ok they're not always historical, but are at least vaguely realistic. You also have the option to paint your tank bright pink with polka dots and a bright yellow turret. Then everyone has a tick box in options marked "show historical only" which means your client replaces all the god awful ones with the default camo. Lots of the "special" camo for wows is very useful for grinding - bonus xp, extra credits etc. However it's horrible, and battles now consist of bright yellow ship (school bus) + puke green (irish) + bright purple (twitch) vs massive eagles + Chinese lanterns. Part of what actually makes tier X slightly better is that most of the camo on tier X is the perma camo which looks vaguely alright. Although with the introduction of the shark/eagle worc and the 'murica DM/Salem this is being eroded

    Concealment Range changes midgame?

Your detection also goes up if you are on fire
  8. In order to "git gud" you need to learn the game. The tiers are actually quite a good learning curve, since it introduces new things until you reach tier 9/X which then has every mechanic. Unfortunately WG are handing out XP/free XP like candy, so average players get rocketed through the tiers without actually getting a chance to learn anything. Its like having 2 driving lessons and then being given an F1 car and told you're on your own.

0.7.8 Balance changes: Black Swan. Dear WG, please no.

Thinking about it, it may well be. The actual newbies get protected MM. So they will never meet the "competitive" tier 1, and by the time their protected status runs out they'll be at least tier 3+ You'll get some newer players that are out of protected status and starting a new line, but they will probably only be there for 1 game to get the xp needed for the tier 2. More experienced players starting a new line are likely to just free xp skip since it's faster than playing a tier 1 game again. Which leaves the "competitive" tier 1 guys mostly playing themselves I guess.
  10. I doubt they mean it's confidential. More that for the people at GC, here's some info you WON'T have already seen a week ago. Of course they expect it to get shared almost straight away. The difference is that if you're there you're not waiting for some kind soul to type it out along with a mobile phone pic

Why does Developers seemingly try to kill Shimakaze?

Bet what actually happens: -Gets asashio deepwater torps. -Gets torp reload booster. -Potato horde happy. -WG point to damage increase as proof of buff. -1% of shima drivers have a whale of a time torping/capping/nuking BB's -99% of shima drivers sit 19.5km away from caps being useless -Riselotte eats own keyboard in frustration

    Good tweaks (Dev blog info)

From the pics it looks like it just marks the skills that literally won't do anything - e.g. expert loader on a minotaur. While taking SE on a BB is generally seen as a bad thing, it at least does something, albeit just not the most sensible choice. Regarding it being needed or not, EU has a lot where English isn't their strong point, and there has been several mistranslations - lots of people have thought that vigilance's "increaded acquisition range for torpedoes" means their torps go further.
  13. Weirdly I can zoom on that pic, while I couldn't on the FB one. You are indeed correct, that is closer to the south spawn. What we don't know is how the HP restore will work. If it's a permanent zone that heals you then yes it will just get camped. If it's a one off repair for X% health (and X/2% for team mates within 12km) then it's worthless unless you have already taken damage. Be interesting to know if once these have been taken, do new ones spawn? Also do they stack?
  14. The new game mode looks like it could actually have the potential to be interesting. Judging from the one screen shot, couple of things stand out: - The bonus abilities appear to be equal distance from either team, which should alleviate @creamgravy's worry about one team starting with one bonus and another with a different one - they appear to have equal chance to get either. -There don't seem to be any caps/bases. So all points come from kills. This actually is beneficial for those flanking DD, since there is no requirement for them to be in a certain place. It also makes radar less useful since there is no minimap warning showing where DD are (currently you see a cap being taken, you know a DD is there). This frees up DD to go do what they want. - The bonuses don't seem to be one of each type. The screen shot shows 1x repair, 2x reload. If they are random each time it stops there being a default meta (always take this bonus at this point first) -Aggressive players get bonuses. We don't know if the bonus zones respawn or are a 1 time thing, but you need to be the ship that enters the zone first to get the bonus. No bonus for spawn campers. -Supporting teams get half bonuses. While only 1 ship gets the "full" bonus, teammates within 12km get a half bonus. Again, spawn campers get nothing. - The current standard battle rewards sitting in your spawn waiting for the enemy to come to you. This doesn't appear to. - The different bonuses will allow for weird new combinations. A super sneaky shima? Maybe a minotaur with even faster guns. What about a faster torp reloading shima with heal vs a super sneaky conqueror etc etc. -There doesn't appear to be a time limit. Admittedly I'm staring at a small pic on my phone, but I can't see a timer.
  15. Maybe I'm being a bit slow because it's Monday morning: which are the two "exceptional" players on the enemy team?

My hopes for the new cv ui

-Dev diaries lists it as being "this year". So that puts it in the next 4 month's. Personally I'd expect to see either preliminary versions rather than full finished version in that time scale. Sceptical version is we will see nothing, since 2016/2017/2018 have all been "year of the carrier" -Gamescon is in a few days. Usually you would expect to see something then. MrConway stated there will be no major news at gamescon. Either he's being coy, or they don't plan on announcing it then.

    Cruisers Update

Oh I know dude, especially since the other "point" is that the moskva has 50mm armour. Which the hindy pens with it's HE.

If they do a significant change they'll pretty much have to offer a refund (although possibly they will try doing it via doubloons).

    Cruisers Update

Got you beat on that one - his hindy has 56k average damage. Got 57k average on my tier 3 katori.

BB AP full penetrations on DDs

First 14 games were an absolute cluster -f**k. Combination of team from hell, and me trying to play the gearing like I would a fletcher. It does not torp beat anywhere near as well as a Fletcher, feels clumsy and slow by comparison, and eats damage like it's going out of fashion. I tried aggressively going after enemy DD ("It's a knife fighter!" I thought). End result was I died from hitting a torp, or I would start shooting enemy DD and take shocking amounts of damage from the enemy team. Far more than I would have taken in the Fletcher. Result: 1 game won out of 14. Next 16 games were "better" if by better you mean I was now achieving at least bot level ability. The teams had now settled back to usual some good some bad, and I had stopped crashing into every torp available. Problem was, if you engaged in a gun fight with a full HP destroyer you take so much damage in return that the trade is just not worth it. You might eventually win the fight, but would have lost 2/3 of your health doing it. Not helped by any random BB shell doing 4k damage to you. Result: 7 out of 16 won. Ok at this point I had managed the low low record of 8 wins out of 30, for a 26% WR. Radar hadn't really been a problem because I'd been becoming spotted when I started shooting the enemy DD anyway. Time for a change. Gun build went out the window, in came torp build. Fletcher torps, torp equipment, RPF instead of IFHE. Played it like a torp boat, only used guns when forced to or clearly at an advantage, or if I was in smoke and someone else was spotting. This was ok, and I started winning 50/50 my games. The problem here was that now I was just using a crap Fletcher. The torps reloaded nice and fast, but there was opportunities to slot straight lining BB that I just couldn't take because they were straight lining at the back, and I was around the cap. Also I had quite a lot of ground to make up - although I was now winning more, my overall WR was still diabolical due to the first 30 games. Did another change. Swapped from torp build to hybrid build. 16km torps were back on the menu. DF got swapped out for speed boost. Game plan was now the long play - no more trying to kill enemy DD in the first few minutes. Tactics get swapped around depending on situation, but now the focus is on conserving health, and capitalising on opportunities. Sometimes I'll passive spot while just using torps. Sometimes I'll open up at a weakened target when no-one else can shoot me. Sometimes I'll sit in smoke if someone else is spotting. Baiting radar, and waiting it out haven't changed. I'm now sat with an overall WR of 50% in it. I still prefer to use the shima or khaba, but I've made the gearing workable without needing to sacrifice cap control. I'm now ~20k base xp away from unlocking the legendary module, so will see if I prefer to use that or not

BB AP full penetrations on DDs

I have been playing pretty much nothing but the gearing recently (125 games in the last month), mostly to prove a point that you can play high tier DD in the radar meta. My number 1 method of receiving shocking high damage is doing something dumb and hitting a torp. My number two method is being hit by battleship AP. DD don't really fuss me - I can gun boat them on equal terms. Radar doesn't fuss me either - I can play around it. Cruisers are dangerous but I can dodge volleys, and if I start taking damage can smoke up and leave. BB I will lose 20% of my health if a shell touches me. If 3 touch me I'm below half HP. If 6 touch me (RNG says yes to tight grouping) I basically die.

My hopes for the new cv ui

The problem they have is pretty simply: -They want CV to be equally as popular as the other classes (presumably because then they can sell plenty more premium ones) - The vast majority of players dont really want to play an RTS. They want to make it so it feels intuitive coming from another class. Well if you look at the other classes they all share the same view point, and aiming the guns in the same. It's an over the shoulder view, aiming reticle, click to fire the guns. BB/CA/DD all have exactly the same. They then all have some consumable that do some different stuff, be it a personal ability (heal) or a team buff in the local area (hydro/smoke/DF/radar). So I'm expecting the view to be the same. I'm also expecting most of the attacking to be automated - pick a target, send planes, of they go to attack. I suspect as they have mentioned being able to "steer" the planes that you will either have limited ability to adjust their course, or can manually choose when they drop. I doubt you will have the ability to fly around freely, or if you do then only with one squad at a time. Bear in mind their goals are pretty much: -make the class popular with people who don't want to play an RTS -reduce the impact they make on a game as this is highly moaned about by lots of people -lessen the impact between having a really good CV on one team and a potato on the other. Therefore for me the expected results will be: -something BB Kevin can play as easily as his BB -something BB Kevin won't moan about too much if it attacks his BB -hated by any current CV mains. -mixed response from people who sort of like playing CV, depending on what exactly it is they like/dislike about CV

BB AP full penetrations on DDs

Generally when people tend to talk about battleship AP vs DD they tend to be referring to the higher tiers. At the tiers you are playing (5-7) the battleships are highly innacurate, vs small thin DD. Therefore the usual result is one over pen for 1k damage. This isn't a huge problem for those DD. At higher tiers the BB have more guns, are far more accurate, vs DD that are longer and wider. The frequent result is therefore volleys doing 8-15k off a DD. This is a problem when the DD only had 19k to start with.

BB AP full penetrations on DDs

If two DD's enter a cap, one or both is going to get spotted. What SHOULD be the biggest threat to them is the other DD (either because it's a gunboat like gearing, or from knife fight torps). The second biggest threat should be the various supporting cruisers that are likely to do 2-4k with a solid volley. What is ACTUALLY the biggest threat is the Montana 15km away that hits you with AP for 8-15k. Playing a torp DD is reasonably easy. Playing something like the khaba that kites is pretty easy too. Playing something like the gearing has been a lot more difficult when your job is to go into caps and fight enemy DD, yet you frequently lose the most health to a BB sat a huge distance away. Works the other way too, if I play the Montana. "Oh look.a gearing is trying to contest the cap I'm nowhere near" *click* "well that was an easy 12k"

    Bots, Cheating, Poor play

This argument doesn't make sense. The shima on the enemy team isn't a Unicum, he's a 47%. I presume you mean the Unicum gearing guy. He has 66% in the gearing, with a 50% survival, 75k average damage and 1.2 average kills. So clearly being last is not the norm for this guy. If you look at his last week in destroyers he's played 11 games in DD, of which 10 are tier 8/9/10. He has a 90% WR with a PR of 3000+ so clearly all these radars aren't exactly hindering him that much
