Issues Before Release - Game is not yet ready

Having once played a game where the mouse WAS inverted and you couldn't put it into normal I can testify how utterly horrid it is to have all the controls the opposite of what your muscle memory wants to do. I spent a large amount of time looking at the floor or the ceiling. While it doesn't affect lots of people it should be there regardless for those that "need" it.

What ships are you bringing to ranked battles?

I'm going to play, simply for something different. Plus all those free flags obviously, nothing I need more than some more flags ;) Ship - wise I'm slightly bound by what I have, be interesting to see how many DD make it in since all the games are domination

So sort range BB damage is still pointless.

It would flood if it was below waterline. Above waterline - no flooding.

    superintendent for CV?

I suspect it will be something like: "scramble!" "50% faster turnaround for aircraft while this skill is active" Gives a boost but doesn't make them more damaging

    superintendent for CV?

*currently* more nothing. When they introduced the destroyer speed boost and the cruisers Hydroacoustic in 4.0 they stated they would be working on class specific skills for all classes including CV. They may therefore at some point get a skill with limited uses, but at the moment they don't.

    repair cost ( amagi )

Unless you're extremely good, everyone will reach a tier where they lose credits. Your choices are: - buy premium time to earn extra credits. Good if you ONLY want to play your high tier ships. -buy credits for gold. Probably the worst choice imo, but some people will do this. -buy a premium ship and play some games in that. Popular since the earnings are good and you can train up a captain quickly while you're earning credits. - get yourself a tier 5 ship and grind credits in that. This is the slowest way of earning credits, and means you have to play lots of tier 5 games to finance your higher tier stuff, but it's the option that is completely free. Depends on how much you like playing tier 5.

    Carrier Aircraft control.

You don't get to control the planes after you've died. If however you have given them an order (I. E. Attack this ship) they will carry out that order.
  8. You "spot" ships at their detection range. They show up on your minimap when spotted. You can actually see the ships when they come into view range. For example: I'm sailing along in my clemson (view range ~12km). I come into 16km of an enemy Kongo. This is within his detection range, so he appears on my mini map. His situational awareness goes off as he's been spotted. However since my view range is only 12km nothing will appear on my main screen. I'll know I've spotted something, bit no idea what it is yet. When I get within 12km of the enemy Kongo he'll appear on my main screen meaning I can see what health he has left etc.
  9. Acquisition is only useful if: -You have guns that can fire further than your view range -Your view range is very short and you want to know what you're about to encounter. As an example, the clemson has a very short view range. (Using clemson as an example, the clemson obviously can't choose to.mount this module) Means I can sail around with the minimap covered in icons but not be able to see any of them (so can't see what ship they are, exactly how far away, how much health etc). The problem comes that usually the ships with low view ranges are destroyers. But they obviously benefit massively from not being detected, so they choose that instead.

    BattleFleet Gothic - Warhammer Ship

Looking forwards to this, I had a nurgle fleet in the TT game. Wondering if it will be true to the original game and be an exact recreation (like bloodbowl, and space hulk), or if it will simply be based on the universe (space marine), or be a re-imagining of the gameplay (mordheim). Either way it looks good I miss having massed slaughter classes backed up by hades class.

    commander "Vigilance" skill

As far as I'm aware it has never changed: you spot enemy torpedos 20% sooner. So if you would normally see enemy torps appear when they're 1km away from your ship, with this skill they'd appear at 1.2km

    Only look this...

You won't like this advice, but it's brutally honest; Stop trying to play tier 6 and go back to tier 3 or 4. You will always spend a reasonable chunk of your games as bottom tier. Everyone has the same. Given they have this system in WOT and have for a very long time I highly doubt it's going to change. So given that approximately 1/3 of your games will be against ships +2 tiers (at tier 6 this goes up to +3), its something you need to deal with. The good news is very few ships are helpless against higher tiers - I've killed Nagatos with Omahas etc. However as you go up the tiers the game gets harder and less forgiving, and you increase the chance of fighting against people who definitely DO know what they're doing. So my suggestion is to go back to tier 3/4 and LEARN how to use your ship well. I don't mean get enough xp to unlock the next ship, I mean be able to dispatch DD without being torped, burn up BB while dodging salvos, quickly dealing with enemy cruisers via AP and citadels, and learning how to avoid planes. Once you have this under your belt and can comfortably do lots of damage, progress to tier 5. Stay at tier 5 until you have the same level of competence. Then and only then move back up to tier 6. Do this and suddenly that line up you posted looks remarkably like ton of squishy cruisers to be citadelled and some BB to be BBQ'd

    wows released sept 17th

I don't see what the big deal is. The game is currently available to anyone who wants to play it. You don't need to be specially picked to be in the OBT. Nor is it a game that is going to be released on disk, so it's not like there's a ton of people waiting for it to be released in the shops. Anyone with an interest in it can already download and play it. Now there might be some who have decided to wait until it's fully released before they download it but I doubt they're the majority.

    New Patch Game Update 0.4.1.1

I'd like if they had the option to use the old spotter plane (the one that buzzed around and went looking for stuff). That way you could have some ships get the extra range plane, some get the fighter, and all can instead take the one that circled looking for stuff

    The grind ...!

Things that have been working for me with the furutaka: - Don't go alone. Always go with other ships, you'll need them to support you. - Don't be the most tempting target. Part of surviving with the furutaka is simply not being shot at. Avoid being the front ship. You don't have to be miles behind, just don't be the closest target. - Avoid open waters. Your short range and lack of any terrain means you get shells rained on you. -Avoid islands. Your rudder turn + long ship length makes navigating these awkward. -Avoid enclosed areas. If you can't turn around easily and you get bottled up you'll die quickly. - The ideal area for a Furutaka to hunt is NEAR some islands, so you can use them to break line of sight, while still having enough space to move around. -Don't get into a protracted fight. Your low RoF means you can't afford to trade shells with another ship. Instead you want to shoot them, be hidden while you reload before shooting them again. See above for ideal terrain which helps with this. -You either face towards someone or away. Never side on. Practise swinging your hull while reloading so enemy volleys straddle you. - Time your turns for between enemy volleys so they don't broadside you. Alternatively time it so there's some terrain between you. - Use your torps. If you can, shoot them at a different target from the one your guns are firing at. People see you engaging one ship and presume your focus is 100% on that ship. It comes as a nasty suprise when your torps turn up. -Obviously use AP and try to citadel cruisers. HE everything else. -If needed run away. Being alive and returning is better than being dead

    WARNING, dont be fooled

I heard it was the system32 files that stops the auto aim working

    Furutaka 4.1

I don't mind the Furutaka. It's not the best tier 5 cruiser since the other two are more versatile simply due to their RoF and range. However I don't think it's bad, it just looks worse when you compare it to the other two (which compete for the title of best ship for its tier). Especially since in a 1vs1 the Murmansk and Omaha can kite the Furutaka. It's perfectly capable of putting out enough damage in the right hands. Regarding torps: I like the long range ones. You're spotted regardless but people don't always expect 10km torps from a cruiser so you can catch people out. Also if you do a yolo run then those torps do more damage. Regarding equipment, I like the steering one. Being on fire isn't as big an issue as not being able to turn to protect your citadel, or getting stuck in the circle of dying

    New Patch Game Update 0.4.1.1

The xp seems a bit stupid. I remember when the US battleships came out, and it was a x4 weekend. Played one game in the wyoming (won) and the stats page proudly informed me my average exp for the wyoming was (literally) over 9000. This information isn't really any use to anyone: people that like to compare their stats to others won't find this info any good, and people that use their own stats to see where they can improve won't have any use for it either. The yubari AA reload is of some use if you have the superintendent skill since at least then you have 2 charges

    Congratulations

Problem is that it won't solve your problem. My wife's cousin is ten. He's smart, polite and plays team orientated games. He never complains and has excellent hand eye coordination. On the other hand my old housemate was a 27yr old man child who would rage over the slightest thing while typing incoherent gibberish into the chat. Age doesn't always = maturity, so while you'd remove the kids you wouldn't necessarily remove the crap. Personally I play in a division with a mate, this keeps us both sane.

    Premium aircraft carrier

If they're going with made up stuff, there's probably quite a lot of variation that can be done: No access to TB, but Dive bombers with AP bombs in formations of 12 for massed carpet bombing. No access to DB, but fighter squads have (small) HE bombs and can do both functions. Really slow planes with huge HP and defensive armaments, but very powerful bombs. Armoured carriers that can use the BB heal ability. Carriers that have main guns (albeit with lower amounts of planes). Now these are all just made up of the top of my head, depends how far WG want to invent stuff

I for one don't like the streamlined MM

Well the German fleet is supposed to be October, and that's technically only just over 3 weeks away...
  22. Only problem is, depending on what you take you can make life bad for your team. I had to do a reinstall, forgot it had defaulted to coop and pressed battle.... in a cleveland. Result? Me, and my team of St Louis and kawachi vs the enemy kawachi, St Louis and cleveland. End result was the enemy cleveland went the opposite direction from me. I had a very easy game killing tier 3 stuff. My team were less impressed at having to face off against a tier 6 HE machine gun.

Manual Torp Drops should Go !

I'd actually like them to remove AUTO drop. Eating a bunch of torps because someone outplayed and micromanaged is one thing. Eating a bunch of torps because someone clicked a button, the Ai took over and dropped in a bizarre crisscross (from a single squadron) pattern that you can't actually avoid is another. 95% of the time auto drop is useless and incredibly easy to avoid. 5% of the time you align your ship to sail between where the torps should be, only to find the Ai has decided to make some crazy converging pattern that manages to hit both sides of your ship at once from a single unit of 6. Being sank because the AI herp-a-derped is the most annoying thing simply because you know there was exactly zero skill involved

Is MM going to mess with good players AGAIN?!?

The issue appears to be mixed claims: The patent covers 5 different forms of matchmaking, ranging from completely random, to penalising better players by putting them as a lower tier vehicle. As it stands it's conjecture as to which match making system is being used. Let's make the assumption that they are using the system for penalising better players by making them the bottom tier. This is in the patent, so no arguements as to if this exists or not. (There are of course arguments as to if it's being used). Where it falls down is that people then go on to make claims that the MM also deliberately puts low skilled players on their team in order to make them lose. THIS is the part that no one can find in the patent, and despite repeated requests, no one has ever been able to provide. When asked to quote where it says it puts low skilled people on your team to make you lose they instead quote the part about being made to play as a low tier ship, or instead quote nothing but just say you can't read instead. Further more, even if this secret not-in-the-patent match making did exist, they can't even describe how it would function. People keep claiming that WG are trying to make everyone 50% but can't explain how putting 11 noobs on one team with a good player vs 12 good players is ever going to get everyone to 50%. That system would have 23 players getting further away from 50%, and one getting closer. So here's a challenge: You have 3 good players. You have 9 bad players You have 12 average players. You can set whoever you like as top or bottom tier, but please make a 12 vs 12 game where the good players lose and the bad players win. (As the supposed point is to bring everyone closer to 50%) Genuinely interested to see the answer.

JPN Cv gameplay is broken but is not players fault.

I tried an air superiority bogue. Was against a zuiho who had one set of fighters. We were the only CV on the map. None of our engagements were particularly over AA. While I managed to stop him from bombing our ships too much, he managed to shoot down more planes than me. That's with a single unit of fighters - at one point his unit of 4 killed a unit of 4 (slightly depleted) for no losses. In a similar fashion I then tried out the zuiho myself (using single fighter) and ended up vs an air superiority bogue and a Langley (I had a Langley too). I managed more plane kills than the bogue, and that had me trying to fight against 3 units of fighters. Will need to play some more games but currently my experience is that the IJN fighters don't seem that handicapped.
