Fix this buggy garbage game
Xevious_Red replied to Svarun_SeventySeven's topic in General Discussion
he might not be lying - like I said above I've had graphical issues with ships before, frequently destroyers where the model isn't produced properly, making the ship "invisible" or consist of a flying wheelhouse. The telltale sign though is that it still has its health bar, and distance, and when you zoom in it suddenly pops into existence. I'll have a look when I get home from work, think I screen grabbed a few instances -
Fix this buggy garbage game
Xevious_Red replied to Svarun_SeventySeven's topic in General Discussion
I've had graphical glitches before where ships would be visible in binocular view, but be invisible (or consist of a few pixels) in normal view. Meant I could shoot them but had to keep going into binocs to see what they were doing. -
Legitimate question: How did you nearly get rammed in your destroyer? They're fast and nimble and can avoid just about everything else with ease. If it was another destroyer, how can you be sure he was the "idiot" and not that you were in getting in everyone's way? When I play DD I actively avoid other friendly DD since they need room to manoeuvre and dogfight, and therefore having multiple DD I'm one area means they all get in each others way and potentially block torps/get hit by friendly torps. If I see another destroyer going where I want to go, I'll go somewhere else instead.

Make sure the "locked" reticle is on the ship going behind the island and you won't have that issue (assuming your guns can achieve enough elevation to clear the island). If the target isn't locked it'll just shoot at whatever the cursor is over. I.e. island. Regarding it not knowing which target you're aiming at, it's not too bad but sometimes it can come up with some howlers. Using X on the keyboard you can lock/unlock which overrides the auto lock. This let's you lock onto the correct target rather than waving the reticle near it and hoping the game works out your intention

Except we don't know what the gun's range, damage, or RoF is. Nor do we know what the turret turn speed is. We can guess that they'll be about equally effective since they have been both given the same rating. Similarly we don't know what the torp speed, range, damage, detection, reload or angles are. Since the gearing has its torps rated as "37" while the kiev's are only rated as "15" means they're highly unlikely to be as good. Just because they have the same number of barrels doesn't make them the same - the Wyoming has the same number of barrels as a fuss, doesn't mean they do the same damage or have the same range
-
Although the Kiev has the same number of tops, I'd expect them to be slower and shorter ranged. The guns will be similar - the gear g will have faster RoF while the Kiev will be punchier. Judging by the lower concealment, the Kiev will be spotted sooner, and can't take the concealment module. Since the range of the tops is unknown, this might mean she can't launch unspotted, or at least has a very narrow window to launch in.

New Aim Mod (No, realy, this one is new)
Xevious_Red replied to Wischmob_von_Eimer's topic in Archive
The worst part is all the hackusation that starts flying around. In CBT when the aim mod was available then, you shot anyone you got accused of aim bot. I can honestly say have never used any mods on Wows (used to use xvm on wot, but been running wows vanilla). I have however been accused of aim bot multiple times, and it's usually over the most stupid crap shots. Like the guy that was sat unmoving. Or the destroyer who sailed in a straight line 5km away from me. Inconceivable that those shots could be made "normally". In CBT I only encountered one person who was obviously using it (I got stuck on an island due to bust rudder, and was stuck fast. - if I put engine on full forward he shot about 3km in front of me. If I put engine on full reverse he shot 3km behind me despite me clearly not moving at all). That's going to be the most annoying part, not that 1% (number guessed) can shoot better, but because of the massive amounts of accusations. Going by how much toxicity there was in CBT over it in game you'd think 99% of people were using it. -
For CV players: when using manual aim, they literally can't put the aiming reticle near the ship. So manual drops have to be done from a long way out, which are very easy to avoid. For non CV: A ship travelling normally goes in a straight line. If it slows down it takes a while to decelerate, and a while to accelerate again. In addition the smoke from the funnels shows how fast it's going and if it's accelerating etc. Someone sailing directly into the border remains at the same speed, so their smoke stays the same. They then depending on the angle of their rudder slide sideways. Using the rudder they can charge how fast or slow they slide and direction. This let's them accelerate and decelerate significantly faster than if they were sailing normally.

Suck at the game? Cant hit anything? Terrible scores every game?
Xevious_Red replied to _x_Acheron_x_'s topic in General Discussion
I expected the punchline to the thread title to be; "Endlessly open threads complaining something is OP" -
for all these WoWs player, which tell their teammates, that they suck...
Xevious_Red replied to JohnBrannigan's topic in General Discussion
Just had a "fun" one. Guy sat in a myogi as far back on the blue line as possible. Game was domination. Not only did he not support any caps, he also didn't hit anything either. He did remember to shout idiot team in all chat, before going on to attempt to ram our other battleship (which was on 2 kills and had been supporting). The one I don't get however is when we're winning, we winning very well and in the last seconds before we take a comfortable easy victory someone (who's usually done nothing) insists we're useless noob [edited]. I understand people who are bad and seek to blame others. That at least makes sense (in a twisted sort of way), but to accuse people of being crap because they've just won...... -
At the moment we don't know what the issue is. If it's something actually fraudulent (bought something for £10, they charged him £1000) then best of luck to you sir. Similarly if they failed to deliver an item (bought the Tirpitz bundle, never received it) then equally best of luck. If it's because you bought a ship and they changed it you might have a harder time because it depends on how it was promoted. I.e. if it said "fires 20 rounds a minute!" And they lowered it to 15 rounds a minute you could argue the product no longer matches the description. If however it said "fires lots of shots!" It could be argued that 15 rounds a minute is still lots of shots. If however it's simply that you don't really like something you might have a harder time. Lots of companys DO do refunds on stuff you don't like, not because you're legally entitled to it, but because it's simply easier for them to give you back a few quid and have you go away rather than go to court over it.

While I won't call for a map to be removed (more maps is always good), I'm aware everyone has their least favourite. For me, ocean is that map. Regardless of if I do well or not, or I have a ship suited to it etc I find it tedious. It might be because I quite like having scenery, so having a flat blue just doesn't do it for me. It's also because I like brawling, so having (almost) every engagement take place at maximum range is also quite dull for me. While I won't ask for it to be removed (since I appreciate others like it), if they ever introduce a option to avoid certain maps, this is the only one going straight on that list. Put it this way, I'd rather play on hotspot with the old diagonal deployment (the one everyone hated) 100 times in a row than have to play ocean once.

Played 3 games tonight. First two I was a destroyer, myself and the other destroyer agreed which caps to take. We quickly managed to take our caps. Unfortunately the rest of the team managed to translate the slightly simple plan "stick together and head towards A" as "sail in completely random directions, try to hide on the baseline and ram into islands". Despite therefore owning 2 of the 3 caps we lost (enemy team didn't even try decapping). Myself and the friendly farragut couldn't do a huge amount since the enemy team were tight nit and had lots of clevelands, so firing and being spotted would be a quick death. Third game I took the warspite out, and despite us being outnumbered in terms of destroyers we sent our stealthy destroyer to take B. In this time the enemy took A and C with theirs. Their whole team went to C, ours went to A and quickly chased off the destroyer there (spent the rest of the game invisible trying to torp us). We then owned A and B. Rest of game involved shooting anyone attempting to capture B, and it was victory. Will try some more tomorrow but so far my experience (only 3 games) hasn't been that the people who get the caps first win.

Captain's Skill and AA mod - 20% range
Xevious_Red replied to woodyudet_17's topic in General Discussion
Actually even better. The first adds 20%. The second adds 20% to the previous total, which is more than 40%. E.g. 5km AA. Add on +20% module takes it to 6km. Add on +20% captain skill takes it to 7.2km -
I kept all progress after release. (?)
Xevious_Red replied to StaticDK's topic in General Discussion
Game was never due to be wiped at release. Last wipe was CBT -> OBT -
Well there's the new longer lasting Hydroacoustic Search, designed entirely for ferreting DD out of smokescreen while not getting torped that gets completely ignored by most cruiser captains

Farming close quarters expert flags
Xevious_Red replied to Xevious_Red's topic in General Discussion
Yeah this is the problem I'm having; most of the flags just happen from normal play (apart from the ramming one), but playing normally hasn't and probably won't net me this one. Unfortunately I don't want to play ultra derpy just to get a flag, and the rare situation where you get something non threatening (CV/AFK) within range is so rare it's not worth attempting. Currently the plan is to try to get high - ish rank in ranked battles (I'm not that good, so probably won't ever hit rank 1). If I can get to rank 10 then the prize includes 50 of this flag, so that's my goal. -
Hi all. Recently I've been playing the warspite lots, and loving the secondary guns. The fact that they're all HE so they blow up modules and cause fires, and do decent damage regardless of target (no over penning or bouncing AP here!), along with their decent range and RoF makes them a charm to play. So obviously I'd love to put the close quarters expert flag on - why wouldn't I want them to be MORE accurate, have an extra 5% range and reload 5% faster? However here's the problem: I can't get the achievement to grant the flag. The problem is in order to unlock it I need to do 20% of my HP in damage to an enemy ship using secondarys AND be the one who sinks it. Since the warspite has 53800 HP means I need to do 10760 damage to a single ship with the secondary weapons and sink it. Now unfortunately, destroyers aren't a problem (killed 3 with secondaries once), but they generally don't have that much health. Even if I find one that does have enough health, I don't really want to wait around with it trying to torp me, so my main guns tend to claim large portions of its HP. If I did decide to not fire the main guns and instead dance with torps waiting for the secondaries to do their business, there's no guarantee someone else won't put a volley in meaning I can't do the required 10760 damage. So clearly destroyers are out. Unfortunately everything else doesn't like coming close enough, and since the warspite isn't the speediest, the secondarys don't usually get the best chance to do enough damage. The few battleships that do like to close to alarmingly close range usually tend to be quite easy to citadel, so again they die slightly too fast. How then (for people that get this achievement) is the best way? I could just deliberately not fire the main guns while trying to sail around an enemy BB but that seems a bit derpy. I could also use a different ship with lower HP, meaning I needed to do less damage, but would need one with decent enough secondarys. I wanted the mikasa for this purpose but didn't get it when available (hoped it would be available for gold). Anyone able to help?

In addition you can tick the tick box marked show team listing (iirc) which puts a list of each team down the side of the screen meaning you can quickly see from the icon what type of ship they're sailing. Useful to know if the person asking for assistance is the destroyer or the carrier.

What ships are you bringing to ranked battles?

What ships are you bringing to ranked battles?
Xevious_Red replied to SomeoneYouKnow2's topic in General Discussion
Can't find the quote but yes, if someone has a 5% chance of starting a fire, and you have a 5% reduction to fires they don't cancel out and become 0%. Instead, if a fire is started (5% chance), you have a 5% chance of it automatically failing. Making the end calculation 0.05x0.95 (chance of the fire actually starting) meaning that 5% fire is reduced to 4.75% That's assuming your ship doesn't have its own modifier - some have lesser chances of igniting. The only exception I believe is the demolition expert which adds it as a flat bonus e.g. 5% + 3% = 8%- 60 replies

Currently there are more premium ships that are not available than ones that are. Other ships you might see but can't currently purchase; Tirpitz - limited time sale (8 days?) Warspite - was in testing in CBT, due to not make it to OBT. Fan base wanted it, so was on sale for about 2 weeks at the start of OBT. Sims, gremmyachy, yubari - pre order ships, could only be purchased before OBT started. Diana, Minehead, Tachibana - promotion ships, available when you bought certain model kits or graphics cards Iwaki Alpha - given to alpha testers as a thank you Arkansas Beta - given to beta testers as a thank you Albany - handed out for free via a code that lasted about a week Mikasa - on sale for about a week Kitakami - reputedly withdrawn entirely, but patch notes keep mentioning it and people claim to have seen it. Likely only staff accounts/press accounts atm

What determines how much coin you make from a match?
Xevious_Red replied to fletch67's topic in Newcomers' Section
Don't think anyone has found the exact formula, generally anything that gives a ribbon counts for xp/money It seems to be based off % damage - so doing 9000 damage to a destroyer with 10k health is worth more than doing 9000 damage to a BB with 60k health. Stuff that seems to produce money: -High % damage (see above) -Damaging tiers higher than you -Citadels. Not worth a lot of money: -Capturing stuff -Killing planes -Shooting people lower tier than you. -
Depends on if there are big changes. If they just decided to change the MM table, unlock ranked mode and give a new version number then I can't see why they would do any testing. I'm hoping the German stuff is there, but since it's not October yet I doubt it.
